Grapes Real Jamaican Cuisine

So, the jerk chicken is the best I’ve had and I’ve had them in Jamaica. Rice and beans were fantastic. Unfortunately, the other sides (cabbage and Mac and cheese) were edible but not great. I was the only customer at noon and service was slow and unfriendly. Kind of made me think that they weren’t too excited to be selling food. There is also a 50 cent surcharge for credit card use.

My bf and I went here on a Saturday night between 7 – 7:30pm, and service was slow. There were 2 – 3 people waiting ahead of us. They only had stewed chicken & fried chicken left, so we said ok because we thought maybe they were closing soon. Before we finished ordering, she took a phone order, not a problem, but it was a problem when she told us its not enough stewed chicken left and that’s what they ordered on the phone. I said lets just go somewhere else, but bf asked her how is that fair, when we ordered first, he told her to call them back and tell them they’re all out. She asked us what sides, they didn’t have what we wanted, they didn’t have it. Bf asked what sides do you have, cabbage and rice & beans, he said why even ask us what we want if that’s all you have. Now on to the food, it was decent, the rice was a little too soft, borderline mushy. Could’ve been sitting in a rice cooker too long. The fried chicken and stewed chicken were decent, I enjoyed the stewed chicken much better than the fried. I think the fried was just sitting too long also. Cabbage was good. Also the there’s a picture on here with the hours listed, but it doesn’t always match what it says on Unilocal.Although first impressions can be everything, I believe in 2^nd chances. Sorry if my extra long review sounds whiny, it’s just honestly I was disappointed. It’s hard to find consistently good Caribbean food around here.

If you want Real GOOD Jamaican food with great service to match… Grapes Is where it’s at!!!
Haven’t had anything that was not good… Fried Chicken, Curry Chicken, brown Stew chicken or Oxtail… All were good to me… And I’m pretty critical when it comes to Jamaican food.

Amazing AUTHENTIC Jamaican food! Best in delaware. Must try the curry chicken and the fried chicken is fried to a perfect crisp. Hidden gem, but most definitely worth looking for.
