I got a lot of suggestions to check out Ceviche’s. We ended up making it in right before they closed down for renovations. When we went, a rain storm had just been settling down and spitting a little bit. We had about a 20 minute wait. Everyone was so friendly. They let us get a beer and a Sangria while we waited outside. I am excited to see the renovations, but it was very small inside and packed. We had to wait outside and even that was pretty tight quarters. They had heaters on and had an awesome guitarist outside too. The vibe was great. Very friendly and relaxed. It was a Friday night and we felt like it was a perfect environment to just relax. It wasn’t loud which was very nice. We got in and got seated on a very small table. I think this is probably my biggest issue. We really wanted to try some different variations of food, but our table was so tiny. It made our dinner a little awkward when you can’t really enjoy your dinner because you are trying to be careful with the small space you have to work with. Now on to the main attraction… the food The food was awesome. It was very fresh and the flavor on everything was delicious. We shared the Los Camarones ceviche, Ropa Vieja and Platos de Casa. I highly suggest the Platos de Casa. It is their appetizer dish that you get to try a little bit of everything,(Empanada, Yucca Fritas, Patacones & Arepas, served w/jalapeño aioli & mango ketchup). The coconut rice is very good. I wish we had saved room for dessert. We were so full! It was a bit expensive, but you get quality, good and unique food with a fun atmosphere. We look forward to going back after the renovation and trying some more dishes. My recommendations try the Platos de Casa and some ceviche first. This is plenty for a party of two to try out. The Sangria was good. I think perhaps putting some different fruit slices in it, might elevate it a little bit. It was missing something. This restaurant is fun and unique and a great gem in Wilmington. P. S. As we were leaving there was over an hour wait, so try to get in at a good time or call ahead!

Always the best food and service. I have gotten different things on the menu many times and have always been beyond impressed. This place is definitely one of my favorites! Be sure to get there as soon as possible because it sure fills up fast!

First rate experience. Really fresh seafood really well prepared. I was always dismayed that a place like Wrightsville had no one that could make a good ceviche. The ceviche de corvina is exactly what I used to have when I lived in Peru. I have eaten here at least half a dozen times and have yet to be disappointed in any dish(although I always order the corvina).

Was so excited for this place to open. I gave it 3 tries hoping it was just a one-off experience but I’m afraid not. Great concept — Wilmington desperately needs a Caribbean/Central American cuisine — a few good menu items — a truly wonderful breakfast fruit juice! Staff is lacking — an older woman — I’m assuming an owner? Spent 30 incredibly obnoxious minutes flirting with some college guys at the bar. Restaurant is small so it was a little hard to ignore Kitchen/owners are unwilling to accommodate food allergies, gluten aversions, etc. Price is high for what you get and we sort of just left regretting our choice of restaurant

I visited this place with a good friend of mine to get a little snack and beverage and man was it tasty! Sam is an excellent chef that puts out tons of creative tasty meals. I got mahi tacos in special and they were perfection! We also shared the mexican street corn and it was delicious as well but a little too salty. Definitely recommend this place!

We really enjoyed sharing the cerviche sampler! All four were excellent. Thick chips and tasty fried plantain are filling. Décor transports you to Panama.

Excellent food, fresh, well made and delicious! They also do an incredible job of handling food allergies. Great service too! Try the BLT!

A sign of a great restaurant is when the specials sound so amazing, you don’t even look at the menu. This was our third time here and all 4 of our party agreed that it was the best meal we have had in recent memory. We had seared tuna with tomatillo cream sauce over arepas, tempura fried avocado stuffed with ponzu soy marinated tuna and pumpkin spice empanadas for desert. Yes this place is tiny, yes you will probably have to wait and yes it’s worth it. Packed on a Tuesday night at 8. This is one of the best spots in town without a doubt.

Put simply; this is the«best place I ever ate.» It’s outstanding food and service in an intimate space. The food and service were fantastic. We ordered appetizers, ceviche of course and deserts. It was all very tasty. It’s one of the few places I’ve seriously thought about ordering more than planned. The main courses were great, just as good if not better than we’ve had at established five star restaurants. As others have recommended get the sampler. The sangria, order that too. Staff were friendly and attentive. Very professional considering the size and how busy the place was. Get there earlier rather than later of course. The people of Wrightsville and Wilmington are lucky to have such a great little place to eat at. I wish it was up here where we live.

This place serves some of the best food in Wilmington. That’s saying a lot since the majority of food I’ve tried in my three years here has been unbelievably disappointing, especially the seafood, which is ironic since this is a coastal community. I had the jerk snapper last night and almost ordered a second, it was that good. It was on special but I really hope they make it a regular item! I see a lot of people complaining about the size of the place but honestly, I think that is the vibe they are going for. It also limits the number of tables but they are serving spankin’ fresh seafood and providing a more personal wait service. My advice? Get there early on a Friday and Saturday night and quit complaining bc your taste buds will be wowed.

Eaten here several times now. Never been disappointed. The ceviche is so delicious and so fresh. We have tried them all. The sangria is also reasonably priced and always tasty.

This is the second time I’ve come in and I love it as much as the first. I had the special with scallops. The fresh sweetness of the scallops with the avocado cream and chipotle drizzle, and fresh salsa, perfectly complimented each other. I loved the fresh little cubes of pineapple. We both absolutely loved the chicken empanadas, and I thoroughly loved the cumin flavor in the filling. The crust was so fresh, and I couldn’t get enough of the cilantro and pickled red onion that took this appetizer to the next level. I had the sweet plantains with syrup and whipped cream, and I tried to eat more of my husband’s beignets with caramel and whipped cream, but he ate all but one bite he let me have.

The reason we started going here was my wife’s love for their sangria. We have tried a few menu items since starting to visit this establishment and it has been just ok across the board. The empanada’s were good, the rice/chicken was ok but like I said the reason we have gone here in the past was the sangria. The staff was nice but the owner seemed to monopolize their time two out of the 4 times we have been there. I get it though, its a small place and you want to entertain your friends. It just gets a little old when attempting to get another drink and the owner has the staff catering to his table and basically ignoring everyone else. Nice guy and all but the way it hurts the service just got old. With that being said I guess it would be a 50⁄50 shot that we would go back but in all likelihood we will not.

This unexpected little place rocked my world. It was small and cute inside, and very polite servers. Ceviche was simply delicious, and the blacked mahi tacos were perfect. Pair that with the white sangria and you’ll have an excellent meal.

Coconut ceviche was spectacular, mild; like the best thai coconut curry dish without the curry. If you’ve never had ceviche, try this. Delicious. Los Camarones were also great, mild, delicious. Great yuca fries. Great tortilla chips. Very good empanadas. Plantains were a little disappointing, I’d like them crispier like chips, or more soft and moist; these were halfway in-between. Very loud, they could use some rugs to dampen the noise(metal ceiling in a tiny space). Can be a long wait, but this place is fun and very good. No draft beer, but decent bottle selection.

Excellent food, fantastic service! So glad we came. Had an appetizer special of shrimp stuffed fried squash blossoms. Great entrees — mixto ceviche and blackened tuna with pineapple rice cake. Yum!

Okay, most would rate a 4 because everything is a 4 for shit sake and there are soooo many 5’s but, there aren’t people. This tiny place serves incredibly freah, kick ass ceviche, with a General Noreaga twist. C’est es Panama! That said, it’s f’n tiny which means seating takes a while and be a use the kitchen is so small they are, how say you say, slooow. Again, food= outstanding. Service = really good Time to get served? If you don’t get water you’ll be drunk

There’s a few great things at Ceviches, namely the cecivhe, the Sangria and the intimate inviting atmosphere with some genuinely unique and tasty menu items. We stopped in for a late lunch and tried a good bit of the menu. This place is fairly new and we live close, so we wanted to make it in and see if it lived up to the other good reviews and we were pleasantly surprised. Little room around the small bar and a few other seats makes this place intimate, and the décor is pretty cool as well. A good place to chat with your neighbors or take a date. Service was friendly and attentive. The biggest criticisms I had were regarding the food, not so much because of the portions that have been mentioned before,(everything we had was a decent size– I didn’t feel like they jipped us, as I know others Unilocalers have) but more so just because of the variety and setup of the menu items. The appetizers and deserts were the standouts, by far, the langostine ceviche we had was great, but sadly despite the quality everything else was on the bland side. The appetizer platter was huge, very authentic, and had a nice variety of stuff, but all the flavor profiles were a little dull, and nothing gave me the«wow I am coming back here for this» feeling. Other menu items were also just a little too bland for me as far as the main courses go. And there were also few to be had. The ceviche we ordered as an app was great, and so was out dessert, but I don’t think ceviche is what most people think of getting as far as main plates at restaurants. I see myself coming back here for appetizers and the sangria, but I would like to see them take more chances and do some more as far as main plates before I would consider coming back.

This is a great restaurant/bar with Panamanian flavor owned by Hunter, a Balboa resident of the Panama Canal Zone. Awesome food selection, but you must try the Ceviche. Ceviche de Corvina is my personal favorite. If you like to spice up your food, ask for Aji Chombo. You will not regret it! I bought a bottle of Aji Chombo to take home.
