Beware do not deposit money into a NEFCU atm. I finally received the money their atm ate a week later and without a call from them to tell me the problem had been resolved

I have just joined this credit union and I am in the process of refinancing with them. They have been extremely helpful, friendly, and efficient. They offer so many useful services. I could not be happier!

Better than most banks around, I’ve been with this credit union for so many years now. They are always helpful when it comes to personal loans and auto loans.
Now for the negative. I’m in North Carolina now and I’m trying to purchase a house. Needless to say I went to NEFCU for a home loan in Vermont, but at my $ 50K salary I was told I could only afford a $ 100,000 house. I had three loans on my name already that only estimated to be $ 300 a month, but that didn’t matter. Nothing like being told you can’t afford almost any house in Chittenden County, but the cost of mortgage is how much the average rent is in the Burlington area, so maybe the home loan department needs to not be so judgmental and uptight. With that being said, I moved out of State for better living. In the process of buying a house I require check copies from when I paid rent. Asking for these checks was like pulling teeth. The lady on the phone had nothing but a stuck up tone the entire time, and when she couldn’t pull one of the checks (because NEFCU charges you $ 2 per check after 2 months) she asked if I really needed it. Being nice on the phone I told her I do because AGAIN like I said, I’m buying a house. She sighed and kept her typical uptight tone and said it would be another day before I get it.
Charged $ 2 per check because your credit union decides to attach fees to its account users instead of just offering this as a service is pretty shady. Now they changed their website and I can’t view anything prior to February 2015 unless I look at individual month edocuments. So sad, this credit union is just not a place I wanna bank with anymore.

Removed a star because I was told I would receive a copy of a check on Wednesday by today. I had to call the credit union because they didn’t call me and was told it won’t be until next week for my copy.
BE ADVISED, IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GET A LOAN FOR A HOUSE AT ANOTHER BANK BECAUSE NEFCU WONT DO ANYTHING WITH YOU, YOU WILL REQUIRE COPIES OF CHECKS YOU PAID RENT UNLESS THE LANDLORD GAVE RECEIPTS. MEANING THIS CREDIT UNION WILL JEOPARDIZE YOUR ABILITY TO GET A MORTGAGE ELSEWHERE BECAUSE THEIR LACK OF KEEPING YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION EASILY ACCESSIBLE LIKE OTHER BANKS AND CREDIT UNIONS. DO NOT BANK WITH THESE PEOPLE IF YOU EVER INTEND TO BUY A HOUSE.

I’d give negative stars if I could. I WAS a 15 year member & went to them on 2 occasions and had a miserable experience each time. The first time was for a small motorcycle loan and it was a fast process but the ultra conservative nature of their procedures made it not worth it for me to continue. I walked away in frustration since they were very unhelpful.
The 2^nd time was for a mortgage and this was also a terrible experience. After submitting everything online there was a delay for a rep to contact me of 1 week. After I supplied them with what other detail they needed, I didn’t hear back for over 3 weeks then I finally contacted them asking WTF. They hadn’t done anything at all and had no updates. Mortgages are very time sensitive, who knows what they were doing with my financial info and the worst part is not knowing what is going on.
They are nosy, weaseling into what they shouldn’t be, ultra conservative, slow, disorganized and impersonal. You are just a number to them and as a result, I pulled my money from them to go back to a BANK big enough to properly serve their account holders. I was happily serviced immediately by another local lender and am closing in a few weeks.
It was so impersonal it was almost laughable, you can’t even call these guys and get help, they have auto reply emails and you’d be lucky if they ever call you back. Absolutely unacceptable.
FYI: Credit score in the low 800s & had about 15% down.

The staff has always been very helpful and well versed in all financial issues. They have processed several loans for me with stunning speed. Online banking site is well done with enhanced security steps that will annoy some. Great locations. I’ve been a happy customer for many years now.
