TRYTHEPIE! My meal was the Chicken Maryland, which was outstanding. The gravy and sides were very delicious. And then they ask if you had room for pie. Well, no but i will try it anyway. So glad I did. The home made pies are to die for. Very pleased!!!

This place is a tradition for our family. We eat here at least once a vacation. And if it’s a day trip this is were we meet for dinner. Home cooked dinners, good prices a slice of southern comfort at the shore. Save room for the pie!!!

So the rating I gave here is definitely inflated because it is a beach restaurant on the boardwalk. Prices are way too high and it has plenty of flaws. However, the main entrees we got, the service, and choices on the menu were excellent. The prime rib(not fatty enough but very delicious anyways and perfectly cooked), blackened mahi(great rub and fresh fish but a bit overcooked), fried shrimp(what you expect which isn’t bad but ask for tartar sauce), crab cakes(excellent in every way) were all good. The potato soup was shockingly good and hammy flavored and I would never order that normally. The crab soup was good and a bit spicy as well. For dessert they weirdly were giving away pie for July 4th weekend(and bdays) and had mostly cream pies. The choc one was good though, as was the apple pie. Service was excellent and you can tell they’ve all been working there a good while. They even let me come in the back to hear up my baby’s bottle. Wait wise try calling ahead and they will seat you right away. They don’t allow strollers but will lock up downstairs.

Went here on a Saturday night with my wife, daughter in law and 2 small grandkids. Surprisingly there was no wait. Waitress was great. Everyone liked their meals, even the kids. This is not gourmet but is good family dining.

A solid 3.5 stars. Extremely friendly staff and service. Food was fresh and very tasty. Once again, given the tourist area it was a little over priced. The homemade pies are also very good. Most meals come with 3 side dishes which is a great value.

What a great place! When we walked in, I thought it didn’t look very promising because of the family atmosphere and many children. But the food turned out to be delicious. I had sea scallops, which were so perfectly broiled, candied sweet potatoes, sweet carrots, and sweet and sour cucumbers. It was all fantastic. My friend had the seafood sampler which included scallops and crab cakes, among other things. Her dinner also came with 3 vegetables. She said that the crab cakes were amazing! Our waitress was very nice too. This was the best meal we had in Wildwood.

Nice spot a few steps off the boardwalk. Very accommodating when we rolled up with a sleeping baby in a large stroller; found a spot for us to bring it to our table. Wife enjoyed the seafood sampler; daughter liked the dog, fries, and corn from the kids menu; and I had a nice simple house salad. Super nice waitress. We’d come back.

Every year my family would come here while vacationing. I don’t know if it got taken over by a new owner or what but the quality and service for their prices drastically went down in the past 4 years.

A Wildwood institution — around since like 1925. My folks ate here some 30 years ago. We went on a Tuesday evening in June. They are only open from 4 to 8 p.m. We had 3 generations at the table and all loved it. I enjoyed the fried scallops, while my wife and mom had the broiled scallops. My son had the fried crab cakes.(I also enjoyed one of those). Your meal comes with THREE sides. Between us we had mac and cheese, fries, applesauce, baked potato, sweet potatoes, corn, carrots, salad and a cucumber/onion dish. All were very good and nice proportions. Nice size dinner rolls. Since we were on vacation and my teenage son saw the size of the pies, we indulged. The coconut crème was awesome. Lemon Meringue alrnight. The Black Bottom was heavenly. Price is what you would expect at the shore(about 30 per person). The atmosphere is very dinerish and old fashioned and that is cool. Staff was delightful.

My niece and I love this place and we have a special dinner together here every year. They give you a ton of food… an entrée plus 3 sides and bread. I always get the scallops and they are delicious. My niece usually gets the fried shrimp. You have a list of sides to choose from… we always get the mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes. I also get the pepper cabbage, which is yummy. We usually go on a weekday so we don’t have to wait in line. The pie is pretty decent too, although my niece loves the ice cream sundae. This place definitely serves comfort foods.

This place was expensive, so I only ordered a crab soup. It was good soup with actual real crab, though a little salty for my taste. The place is a decent size, but it somehow felt a little stuffy. Perhaps because it was a nice day and the place is fully enclosed. The décor and stuffiness makes it feel like a grandmother’s house. It feels like the sort of place I might enjoy eating at in the winter, if I had the money. Also, if I wanted to be at grandma’s. Keep this in mind.

Overall it was a good experience. The food was good and we have come here every year for years now. The only downside was the soup. We used to crave the New England Clam Chowder it was soooo good… but now the soup is very watery and not nearly as good in the past. When we mentioned this to the waitress she said that yes they have started making it more watery. The soup was disappointing but the rest of the meal was very good.

Eating here is like going back in time 40 years. Been eating here with family all my life and enjoying every dinner. The food is just like home cooking or Penna Dutch type cooking. This is a must visit every vacation to Wildwood we take. And will be for years to come. The restaurant is maintained at an impeccable level. Its museum quality.

I’ve been going to Groff’s since I was 5, I’m now 45 and the place hasn’t changed a bit. Home cooking with a shore atmosphere. Consistent food is the key with this wildwood landmark. Try one of their homemade pies! Fantastic!

I honestly don’t know why this place doesn’t have a straight 5-star rating. This place has been around forever. The lines are long, yes, but they turn tables quickly. The food is always great. they give you free pie, and the black bottom is amazing. the prices are a bit high, but it’s totally worth it. never a bad meal here.

Overall, I thought it was diner-ish quality food for a fairly high price. The pasta and salads served as sides were nothing to write home about. I had the surf and turf, which consisted of a lobster tail and 8 oz. steak and seemed rather little given its price. My father had the veal parmagiana, which was more reasonably priced, but the main entrees were generally rather pricey. The free pie slices were meh. I had the peach glazed pie, and it was alright. Despite not being at full capacity at the time we were eating, service was rather inconsistent. Overall, it wasn’t really terrible, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Groff’s is probably one of the only restaurants in Wildwood where you can get family, home cooking. It has limited hours during the week, so get there early if you want to eat here because there is usually a line — especially on peak weekends. The grilled pork chops and roast turkey are delicious. I also really like the many different choices for sides. There’s pretty much something for everyone on this menu because it’s packed with family favorites. Come hungry when you come here because it’s a lot of heavy food. I always try to save room for dessert though because their apple crumb pie is the best I have ever had.

One of my favorite restaurants down the shore! Food taste like it is home cooked and everything is very fresh! Their soups are outrageous and their pies are fantastic! You can download a coupon from their site for a free slice of pie or obtain one from the information building on Schellenger Ave & Boardwalk. They are only open from 4:00PM until 8:30PM and on weekends you can expect a line but it is worth the wait!!!
