Stopped here on my way to Killington. Surprisingly good Chinese food, especially given the large captive target audience(people waiting for a connecting bus) and the fact that it is buffet style. Even better than what passes for Chinese food in NYC.

I travel to the area every other week and find myself coming back to this place. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The food is about average or slightly above average than your typical Chinese Buffet. There is plenty of choices and you will have plenty to eat. They truly try to keep everything fully stocked and fresh.

I stopped here for a dine-in lunch while waiting for a transfer for the Greyhound bus, and I honestly was very surprised at how nice this place was. My meal was $ 7.60, and for that I was expecting food that was barely edible, but most of what I had was quite nice. The staff were friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the food: it’s not going to be the best Chinese food you’ve ever had, but it hands down beats any other place I’ve been to for the price. For that, this place gets my 5 stars.

Edible, but nothing special. As expected, freshness makes a huge difference, especially in dishes such as fried rice. Egg drop soup was peppery, whip cream was grainy. Good price, but best value would be carry-out.

Stopped in for dinner, staff are nice, and buffet was adequate. They had sushi and broiled Salmon that was not bad. You can tell they did their best to keep food fresh. Nice desserts.

It is what it is… buffet style chinese food. Once every couple years I make the mistake of going to these joints. Luke warm food, that has been sitting out for who knows how long, with absolutely no love in it. As I was eating I could only wonder if I would get the squirts from it… fortunately it all stayed in. On the plus side the staff was friendly and attentive, and the fortune cookie was good. I’m sure I’ll make the mistake again in a couple years and find myself in another chinese buffet wondering what heck im about to put myself through. But hey if these joints are for you… have at it!

Worst place ever !!! Have to beg for food on a buffet! Rest of food is old and dried out!

Suddenly on a Saturday afternoon I got a craving for a Chinese food buffet and there’s really only a couple places in the area. Don’t let its location next to the White River Junction bus station deter you from checking this place out. I hadn’t been to China Moon Buffet in about seven years so I was excited to see if it was how I remembered it. The atmosphere was much improved from those seven years ago but the food seem to be pretty much the same. The variety and selection of different Chinese and American dishes on the buffet was great. They had quite a few different seafood options, including crab legs, clams, shrimp, and muscles. I was able to try some things that I am never able to get when I just order one dish from a Chinese restaurant, such as coconut chicken or Mongolian pork. A wonderful treat at the end of the meal was a softserve ice cream machine which cleansed the palate. Try China Moon Buffet, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

A buffet! Need I say more? Thought so… When deciding on a buffet there are a few important factors: the qualify and the variety of the food! For this place, neither were of issue. This restaurant was very much satisfactory with plenty of goodies! Everything was very fresh and hit the spot just right. There is just something so intriguing about being able to design your own plate with exactly what you want on it without any of the wait! The place was very clean, stocked, and delicious. I went with four coworkers and we all ate to our hearts desire. There were no complaints and at the end of the day– everybody was happy! Score!

It’s warm and comfortable inside. Soft Chinese music plays in the background. The staff is very nice and accommodating. When I said I planned to stay a while to wait for a taxi she said, «no problem, take your time.» The buffet has dozens of choices and they stir the food often so it doesn’t dry out. The food is very tasty, if not healthy, and at $ 7 for all you can eat, a steal! Great service, good food and cheap!

Driving through to get to some skiing in New Hampshire, we decided to stop here real quick for lunch. Not wanting to eat at McDicks, we decided Chinese buffet would hit the spot nicely instead. China Moon is run by what I’m assuming is a single Chinese family(how many Chinese families could be in this town anyways!) and the restaurant itself is connected to the gas station. Now originally hailing from the midwest, this is a great reminder of the cheap buffets I’m used to. No paying $ 28.00 for an all you can eat buffet, or paying a «buffet» by the pound non-sense. For $ 7.00 we were able to have an awesome lunch that we would have never received at name any fast food joint. All the dishes passed muster for my white people’s Chinese food standard. They serve up all your standard items you would expect from all Chinese restaurants to even a few strange items like the gigantic siu mai dim sum offerings they had. I particularly enjoyed their fried chicken they mixed with curry powder and loved the fact they had candied peanuts which instantly reminded me of my grandparent’s house when I was a kid. For a small town restaurant connected to a gas station, this place had a pretty impressive buffet line with IIRC4 separate lines to include a variety of dessert items including cake, pastries, and fruit. If I ever find myself traveling by White River Junction, I know where I’m eating. Here.

Inexpensive but the food was lukewarm and if you’ve ever had lukewarm chicken fingers you know they are vastly different when they’re hot. The food was decent but unfortunately that is about it. The waitress was sweet and attentive.

The food was not that good, a lot of it was cold and tasted like it was left out for awhile.

Was it the best chinese buffet I’ve ever had? no. was it the worst? no. 3 stars for China Moon for being open and fully stocked after driving 4.5 hours from Boston(should’ve only taken 2.25hours, but that’s what we get for leaving on a Friday at 4pm on a 3 day weekend.) we were famished! we were tired! we arrived at the condo we were staying at(it was probably 45degrees inside) and knew we were going to have to be out of the condo for at least an hour to let it heat up, China Moon was open. and even if the locals tell you to avoid this place like the plague, it really isn’t that bad. Yes, there are better options, but if you need to be fed immediately, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at this place. My parents have eaten here a bunch of times and really like it. The hot tea was definitely the high point, absolutely delicious. Order the hot tea. The desserts were not bad either. The buffet was, you know, your normal chinese buffet. My husband quite enjoyed the sushi actually. I thoroughly enjoyed the crab rangoon among other deliciously fried goodies. The green bean dish was extra tasty, we both went back for seconds on that one. There was some coconut chicken dish that was so delicious, I’ve never had coconut chicken like that before. Is the food great for you? obviously not, but it’s not like you’re eating it every day, indulge! They had a sign in the restaurant that I really liked, it said something like«please take what you would like, and eat what you take, you can always come back for what you like.» love that. We were the last ones in the restaurant, and the people who take the food back to the kitchen at the end of the night were nice enough to check if we were done eating before cleaning up. that was super nice of them.

Surprisingly good and cheap Chinese buffet. You can’t really ask for more at a bus station Chinese restaurant. (edited to add:) I came here the first time when my bus(MTL to BOS) stopped to re-fuel, I was coming down with some very unpleasant cold. The China Moon manager saw me and immediately made me a big cup of tea, it was exactly what I needed!

I like to treat myself to sushi at least once a week. Because it does get expensive, I usually wait and eat sushi as part of an all-you-can-eat buffet. Yesterday I had an hour layover in White River Junction during a bus ride to Burlington. So I opted to eat at China Moon for a late lunch despite the $ 10.95 price, which I thought was a bit high. The seating hostess tried leading me to a booth in the back when I had all my luggage with me. I insisted on sitting in one of the empty booths closer to the entrance and the food. The buffet itself was okay but the sushi selection was limited and the food overall didn’t taste that fresh. It also would’ve been nice if other flavors for ice cream were available besides just chocolate and vanilla. I like buffets that offer up to eight kinds of ice cream such as Cookies N Cream and Cotton Candy. Nevertheless, I will probably eat at China Moon again if I have another layover in White River Junction.

I travel quite frequently and after a full day of flying there were few choices for dinner in the immediate area by my hotel. Fast food just wasn’t what I was looking for when I saw this place as I drove by. I parked and gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised with the food at China Moon. I haven’t been to any of the others as some of the reviews indicate there are. I just returned to the US from South East Asia(including China) 2 months ago so my bar for Chinese food is kind of high. While it’s not like being on the other side of the world, it was a great find and I would come back if I’m in the area again.

This China Moon(one of three — others are in Newport and Lyndonville which is in northern Vermont) was pretty good. However, it was not as good as the one in Derby(can’t say anything about the one in Lyndonville as I have never been there before). The price is cheaper if you come on a Mon-Thur rather than on Fri or Sat. The buffet is quite extensive with crab legs and shrimp. This buffet also serves soft serve ice cream. If you like chinese buffets, than you will be pleased with this place.

Okay, you may think Im being too generous giving a bus terminal chinese buffet 4 stars but baby they were yummy… and cheap! So tasty… I know this stuff is bad for you but it was really good and whn there are no health-food options at a bus stop and your stomach is cramping up with hunger, chinese buffet is comfort food… ps. «go greyhound!»

Located next to the bus terminal. I stop here when I’m driving through the Upper Valley. This Chinese Buffet offers the basic Chinese fare(a bit on the greasy side), soups, salads, shrimp, crab legs, mussels, salmon, pizza, and more. Desserts include ice cream, fruit, jello, cookies, & cake. The food here is tasty and hot. The service is good(refills on my soda often and used plates taken away between buffet trips).
