Tommy’s Original World Famous Hamburgers

what is it about tommy’s original that makes it an icon in the hard core junk food category?
1) no concessions to healthy. get chili.
2) hamburger… no pickles, no tomatos, extra chili.
3) cheesedog… no pickles, no tomatos, extra chili.
4) tamale… got chili?
5) chili cheese fries
6) large root beer.
now if you are sharp, you may see a pattern here…
chili… so greasy, ever so savory, it flows like lava over your burger, dog or fries and engulfs your tastebuds. you may not enjoy this sort of thing or if you are like me, you plan your road trips based on where the shack is!
if you are a health nut, don’t bother, eat your kale, pomegranite, quinoa and fish… and live healthy and miserable.
if you love to indulge, this is the place.

Love Tommy’s and have been at this location several times, each time receiving a great order! Unfortunately, last time I visited this location, which was around 9pm last week, the location was surrounded by a ton of mosquitos/​bugs! And I don’t just mean the average number of mosquitos during the summer, I mean the place was COVERED by these things. The drive thru area had so many bugs that the speaker was almost completely covered, plus there were still a ton more flying around the menu; there were so many, it was impossible to order. Not only that, but, the walk up counter was also completely covered by these bugs. Now, if the teller is swatting these bugs from the counter while taking orders, I wouldn’t doubt they were doing the same inside the kitchen. I definitely did not want the extra protein in my burger that night. Very gross, off-​putting, not sanitary, and quite frankly scary considering the current Zika virus situation. Hopefully management will get this fixed soon.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, never disappointed when I come back!!! The lady who runs this spot is AAA plus customer service!!!

Great food and service. The worker was very nice when I asked for a bag, she wrapped up my food for me. I will come back again.

Came here late night and the lady at the register was extremely rude. I had a problem with my atm card’s chip and was trying to explain to her that you could swipe it but she denied me service. I’m thankful I’m negative 1000 calories but hangry that I wasn’t able to get my chili cheese fries :[

I got a breakfast burrito there and was suprised ty hat it was filled with chili. I didn’t need to eat again until late that night. Talk about over the top!

This is a tiny little walk up Tommy’s. We didn’t know this as it was quite cold when we decided to go. We are from Arizona and my husband always has to find a Tommy’s when we are in town. Everyone was primarily speaking Spanish around us but our order was clearly heard and made exactly like we wanted it. There is no indoor seating so we sat outside and ate in the cold but it was worth it because the food was delicious.

The bathroom is now for employee’s only?
I just drove 20 miles to your location (where I’ve been coming since I was about 8 years old) and cannot wash my hands before I eat your steaming hot pile of heart-​attack inducing burger.
If you’d like your stars back, change your policy back. No restroom is unacceptable.

I want to start out by saying I love Tommy’s. Nonetheless it is a fast food place and things are hit or miss. Today was a miss and I take full responsibility for the lack of fries I ordered. «Check the bag!»
The worst part is when I get home. 10 miles away which makes my trips here so special. I get the worst looking burger.
Do I still love Tommy’s. YES.
Does this make me want to come back to this location. NO.

This is my spot chili cheese chili cheese burger make it a triple burger with a chili cheese fry so I get down my boy

I just found this place for a quick breakfast sandwich– so much better than the egg mcmuffin and cheaper too. I definitely will be back

I’ve been a Tommy’s fan for over 30 years and been to quite a few of their locations, so I’m always looking for consistency. Tommy’s in Westminster hasn’t disappointed me once in 10 years. The service is always friendly and the food is always delicious.

They have a drive-​thru and some tables outside. BF and I went for a late dinner, 8PM is late right? One lady working drive-​thru and one man making the food I believe. So every picture had chili on the food so this place must be known for their chili right? But it says ‘world famous hamburger’…
What we got:
Chili Cheese Fries: I didn’t like it. First look and it didn’t look appetizing, but I’m not going to judge! Took a bite and eh… they did give you a lot of chili, but maybe I was just expecting it to taste better. Fries weren’t crispy or crunchy and it just looked limpy.
Triple Chili Cheeseburger: so the burger part definitely made it better. Yes it has chili, but it tastes way better on a burger than it did the fries! I told my BF I just wanted one bite to try it and ended up taking a couple more. So definitely get the burgers here!

Lady was nice, food came out in a timely manner, but the food here is expensive! Or I don’t know… we just had the fries, burger and drink and it ended up being almost $ 20…prices weren’t clear on the board and no receipt was given either.

Ordered a burger with no pickles and no tomatoes, they repeated the order. On the box there were stickers that said No Pickles and No Tomato. Well, guess what there was on my burger? About 12 pickles and no onion. I wanted onion. I’m sorry, but can you please know the difference between the two.

I will give this place a solid 3 stars…$ 17.80 got us a Caliente burger, chili burger no onions and no chili… two fries and a drink.
The flavor of these burgers were pretty darn good and their fries were delicious! The only thing they forgot was the chili on my burger.
Actually, I’m changing my review to 4 stars mainly because even though they messed up my order slightly it was still a really damn good drive thru burger!
We will be back in the near future.

I’m such a hot dog fan– love this place.

Located at the corner of Westminster blvd and Goldenwest offering outdoor only style eating, serving burger and fries with mandatory chilli on top of everything they serve up.
The beast wanted to eat here, after a short discussion of where to eat he said no burgers. But then said Tommy’s, isnt burgers, its Tommy’s with a huge smile on his face. Me, I tried to be happy for him, but deep down inside I was hoping they were closed. Tommy’s is not my favorite place, but he loves the chilli. And since he had his fix, we won’t need to go back for a few months.
Ive been coming here for years and have always had friendly service. Order at the window, pay them cash or card then grab a table and wait. Pay attention to the time because they do not usually call names or numbers.
The burgers are a thin beef patty cooked on the flat grill topped with a generous portion if chilli that is oozing out once you open it and take a bite. You may notice a lot of grease spilling onto the paper or a strange red coloring dripping out, that stains the napkins too. The chilli is beefy, zero beans and mixes well with sliced cheese. Is it good? Well they sell it by the pint, so it must be. Some say its a form of crack. And my husband loves it. But, I am not a huge chilli fan, so usually I say easy chilli. In fact only recently have I been tolerating chilli. I used to tell them to hold the chilli. Slowly I began eating chilli fries, and after about 10 years, I finally gave in. Did you know you have to try a food 7 times before you can actually like it?
The hotdogs are hit or miss. My last hotdog was better than last nights hotdog. Last night my weiner was all dried up. It tasted like a beef stick you’d get at 7 11. It was salty, very dry, a red processed color and unsatisfying. But it was after midnight and maybe the lonesome weiner had a hard night on the cooker. The chilli on top was greasy and left behind a red coloring. I ate it because I was hungry but most likely will never order the hotdog again.
Drinks offered are basic fountain drinks with free refills. We had rasberry tea snd water.
Parking is okay. Lot has about 10 spots. Its easy in and easy out.
3 stars, good service and just okay inexpensive food.

Never been to a Tommy’s, so after hitting the Art Supply Warehouse one block down I was convinced to try it… once.
«The Hat» beats them on the Chili Cheese fries category in ubber size, but their same offerings and their Chili burgers were good, but God Almighty! The grease content on the (…tasty…) chili will spackle all your arterial vessels on the spot, double coating. Don’t visit your doc after eating here: «You just ate at a Tommy’s, didn’t you?,» «hmm, yes?. How…» «I can bloody hear your Heart screaming from here without my stethoscope.»
Interesting to try once; divey, yet with an Americana feel, but bring a kegger of anti-​cholesterol medicine.
Guilty tasty food, no salt on the fries? (up to you to add sodium to the tar chemical compound brewing on your colon). No non-​carbonated drinks. Sugar to the mix?, heck, just go ahead and fall face on the table then with a silly smile on your face when your heart implodes
Recommendable,… once or twice (yet so very tempting).

This place is a major time warp. I remember many burger stands like this iteration of Tommy’s. Walk-​up window, A-​frame building, concrete benches and tables outside. I rarely eat at Tommy’s, but when I do, I always order chili cheese fries. It’s like eating nostalgia, if nostalgia were made out of lard.
