Would have given even worse but there is nothing less than a star here. I went to qaderi for chaat and what they served in the name of chaat was bizarre. Worst chaat ever. Infact they should name it something else becausr it was nowhere close to a chaat. They gave us cubed boiled potatoes with loads of onion and some chutney. I even felt the potatoes were bad in samosas. Never ever go to this place.

I’ve only been a few times, just to get the bhel puri and snacks. The Bhel is more saucy than I’ve had before, but was very good. We also got samosas which where in the little snack bin by the register. Also we had the gulab jamun. Which if you’ve never had you should try. It’s like cake balls soaked in sugary syrup. I never seem to make it during the hot food serving times, I think its more for lunch. But I like stopping and getting snacks here. Also half of the store is a market, so more snacks from India.

What a great find! As someone just venturing into preparing Indian and Pakistani quisine, this was a great experience. Everything I needed was readily available, and the staff was exceptional. I will definitely be back.

If you want to try some Pakistani street food, the look no further. They have a some great stuff and it’s cooked fresh while you wait.

One star because cannot give less than one. Me and my friend went there to try there chaats and sweets. There samosas were not fresh instead they were those frozen samosas we get in Indian store. Don’t know about sweets if they were from frozen packets or not but they were not at all fresh. We also ordered pani puri and aloo paratha and those pani puri disappointed me a lot. At last we got our aloo paratha and again it was one of the frozen paratha we get in Indian stores. My suggestion is if you know the taste of Indian dishes then don’t try this place you will be really disappointed because thiese people are just are just selling frozen Indian food in restaurant.

Last weekend we were in SLC and my friend suggested this place for evening quick snack. If you are from Indian sub continent, you mostly like the chaat stuff. We ordered couple of chaat dishes and chole bhature. Samosa chat tastes quite different from the Indian style chaat. Freshly made bhature’s and they hot and tasty. The chaat house is inside the grocery store and have few seats to dine in and no complaints about the ambiance.

This review is for the market side not the food. The stuff on the shelf looks like its been there for ages. The produce looked wilted and frail. I have experienced better places with fresh produce and better prices.

If you are from the Indian sub-continent and you have been living in Salt Lake City, then there is a good chance that you have been deprived of good chaat for a while. You envy your friends living in other parts of the country(read Bay area) who don’t know what this feeling is like. And then you discover Qaderi Chaat House. So the first time you go over there, you eat with great relish. You go there 2 days later and again devour their food. And then, all of a sudden, the fascination dies. The food doesn’t taste all that great. You slowly start seeing pieces of raw green pepper in your chaat. It seems a standard ingredient in most of their items on the menu. Raw green pepper. Its funny that you never notice it the first time around. From where I come from, you don’t come across pieces of raw green pepper in chaat, of any kind. Period. There, the bubble burst, and you are back to envying your friends in CA. Tip 1: The Chaat House used to be open only during weekends and it closes early(by 7 pm). I once drove all the way during a weekday to find out. Tip 2: Their chicken katti roll was quite tasty.

I am a big fan of Indian/Pakistani street food – like the chaat this place sells.(Yes, there are other things on the menu, but you can find them at any standard north Indian restaurant.) I have had better, but rarely have I had better in a setting like this. Definitely worth a trip. There also seem to be a lot of other tiny ethnic-food-in-the-suburbs style restaurants which seem promising in the area.

Tucked in a strip mall down on Redwood Road is this little place in the back of the Indo-Pak grocery, Qaderi Sweetz N Spicez(which sells sweets and spices and also rents a lot of movies). They have some basic Indian fare, to which I cannot speak, but also about half a dozen different chaat dishes. Get these. We tried the aloo chaat, kal channa chaat, mix chaat, samosa chaat, and one another. The kal channa chaat and mix chaat are the best. Crunchy, spicy, sour, and exciting. Try the array of desserts, too. [4 stars on the merits, plus a bonus star for being here in Salt Lake City. The gentleman who runs the place disapproves of drinking soft drinks when it’s cold outside, so be forewarned.] EDIT: What’s «chaat»? It’s a general term for assorted yummy Indian snacks involving spices, sauces, and fried dough. All of the ones here involve chaat masala, a yummy sour spice mix that depends on powdered dried mangos. See: .
