best pizza in the area, other entrees are good too. not crazy about their froyo, but other than that Mangia is great. Nice, clean restaurant. Only place in the area I’ve found that sells toasted raviolis, which more than makes up for the froyo situation in my book

Great place for gluten free pizza and sorbet. The pizza was really fresh, the gluten free pizza cooks up in six minutes and the toppings are generous and of good quality. The price for the gluten free pizza is an additional two dollars so the price is pretty reasonable. There’s a frozen yogurt bar as part of the place including dairy free options of sorbet. My daughter advised me we should come back again soon and bring Mom along with us:)

Fresh ingredients are immediately evident when you take a bite of pizza, and Mangia for us has delivered mouth-watering pies every single time. I’m flabbergasted by the plethora of toppings and combinations, and it’s always hard for me to choose. A true show stopper however is their frozen yogurt – light and delectable.

I’ve ordered a couple of the gluten free Pizzas from here over the last couple of weeks and I would have to say they are making the best gluten free pizza I’m probably ever had. The place is well located and clean and has alot of options. I don’t write alot of reviews but I noticed alot of the review were bad and I almost didn’t want to give the place a try but I am glad ignored the reviews and stopped in.

At first, I was very impressed with the pizza and it definitely is some of the best pizza I’ve found around here. After my experience tonight, however, I will not be returning. My order delivery took almost an hour to arrive(I live very, very close by), then I discovered that the pizza they delivered was plain cheese… now, I love cheese pizza, but after paying 1.75 per topping and not receiving ANY toppings, I am furious! This place is overpriced by far as it is… the least they could do is get your order right! I didn’t mind spending more money for good pizza but I won’t be spending any more money here!

It is our first time eating at Mangia. I cannot even begin to tell you how awesome our experience has been. The food is great, the service was really great. The attendant, Peter, is very personable and gave us a lot of attention. We will most certainly be visiting again and recommending this place. Now, onto the frozen yogurt bar!

WOW!!! Best PIZZA I’ve had in a long time! The sauce is amazing and the crust is nice and thin with a pleasurable crunch to it, I ordered«The Calabrese» I HIGHLY recommend Mangia’s pizza. Now to the frozen yogurt, I’m a BIG fan of Orange Leaf but I have to admit Mangia’s frozen yogurt is way better, the flavors just POP right out at you causing your eyes to open wide and smile as you enjoy the flavors. I had the Caramel Douche and the Vanilla with Granola on top and it was delish! OHOH and Monday’s they offer Happy Hour from 4 – 8 half price on pizza and yogurt what a nice touch and treat for the people in the area. I read a few reviews and I was left like are they really talking about Mangia’s in West Roxbury!!! Now after writhing this review I want pizza again for dinner!!! With that said I’ll be stopping in Mangia’s after work with my daughter for 2 slices and a soda for $ 5 bucks!!!

Despite the bad reviews, decided to check it out since they had a banner in front of the store saying 50% frozen yogurt and all pizza btwn 4 – 8 every Monday for the summer. They had like 18 flavored of froyo, and Lots of toppings. I ended up getting the watermelon sorbet which was really delicious. Also ordered a pepperoni and onion pizza which was very fresh! It’s a must try for sure. Even without half off the prices are very decent, cheaper than many places especially to have good quality food. The inside was very clean and spacious. They even have a salad buffet. I will be coming back that’s for sure!

EDITEDANDUPDATEDREVIEW: 7÷15÷15 I could have sworn I wrote a review for this place when it first opened but I guess it didn’t stick. We have been back here a handful of times since it opened and each time we are more and more disappointed. It’s quite sad. The place is utterly deserted. I don’t think I’ve ever come here and there’s been more than 2 people here. On top of that, the fact that they don’t have a proper sign in front of their restaurant is telling that they’re either not invested on sticking around very long or they think that a banner is good enough. We came here to eat when it first opened last summer. The pizza is dismal. We ordered the shrimp scampi pizza and the shrimp stunk– they were either old or not stored properly. The entire pizza was sopping wet and not cooked all the way through. We have been back several times throughout the past year and have to say that the yogurt here is decent. They always have new flavors and are vey generous with the sampler cups but there are often two of the same toppings(spaced three spots apart) and the toppings are old and stale. It’s clear they do not cycle the toppings and only change the fruit out of necessity(meaning that if it hasn’t rotted– it’s still out there). The price isn’t terrible– they actually dropped it since opening. But, hand to God, ATLEAST twice that we came in the scale was above zero before we placed anything on it. We mentioned it to the employee that was at the register and she insisted it didn’t matter and that the proper price would come out. Anyway– it’s sad to say but I wouldn’t be shocked if the place was out of business in the next few months. It’s too bad because West Rox needs some good places. We can’t always go to West On Center, right??? Chris, the owner of Mangia, sent a response to my original review which I thought was a bit harsh but at the same time, I did write a relatively harsh review of his business. He contacted me privately and then gave me 20 minutes to respond before he then wrote the response that you all see here. I was more than happy to have an open and honest conversation with him about my multiple experiences at Mangia, about his supposed inspections and how he «throws himself on the cross» for any customer but it seems to me that I’m not the only customer that has had a negative experience here– hence the 2.5 star overall review. I think it’s funny that he chose my review to single out since there are other scathing reviews of inattentive employees(which I didn’t mention in my review even though I encountered many a texting high schooler on his line), late/missing deliveries, and dirty conditions– yet those seem to have gone by with no address by him. I’m sure Chris has a ton going on though.

I am new to the area and ordered during a grueling day moving in. The gluten free crust(recently a new recipe) is fantastic! The best gluten free pizza I have had in Boston. I have several food allergies and they did a great job taking care of me. The pizza was cooked just fine and the taste was very close to a non– gluten free pizza(from what I recall of glutened pizza). When I had a question about my food allergies, they got me right through to the manager(the allergy had nothing to do with the pizza — and this was good to have confirmed right away). The pizza was ordered and delivered through grub hub and arrived early and nice and hot. I will definitely order again!

im not really sure what the deal is with all the negative Unilocal reviews, ive had nothing but positive experiences with mangia. dined in once when they first open and had a caparse sandwhich and my mom had the meatball parm, i never eat meatballs but these were so good i kept stealing bites. the froyo bar is amazing, the topping selection is awesome! ive ordered take out twice and have not been disappointed, they are always super friendly on the phone and arrive in the time allotted. i will continue to give my business to mangia. btw do yourself a favor and try the inna pizza, its out of this world!

Todays is 5⁄27 and I’m throwing out my Mangia menu so I’ll never be tempted to give them another chance. The last 2 times I ordered from them I just couldn’t convince them to cook it fully. I tried ordering it «crispy» «well done but not burnt» and just asking them to «cook it a few minutes more than you usually do.» This time it WAS cooked enough. But the crust was ridiculously thick, it was sopping with toppings and it was covered with way too much parmagiana cheese. This place was pretty good when they first opened but now they just refuse to cook the pizza enough. For a while my whole complaint was they were inconsistent. Well congratulations Mangia! You’ve conquered your issues with consistency! Your pizza is now consistently AWFUL! **I feel like I should add something here… A few weeks after I posted this review I received an Email from the owner of Mangia telling me he had made some changes and how he’d like to buy me a pizza if I would consider giving them another chance. I Emailed him back and told him I’d be a fool to not let him buy me a pizza and I’d definitely give the place another chance! That was 2 months ago and I haven’t heard from him since! This must be the kind of attention to detail that results in such awful pizza.

Still no word from Mangia. Apparently they don’t care about reviews. I also emailed the manager, Chris, directly but have not heard from him. Have not reordered from this«restaurant«since I know life is short and don’t want to waste any unnecessary time waiting for food. From the looks of recent Unilocal reviews it doesn’t look like they’ve made any positive changes.

I tried Mangia pizza again and it was good and ready on time so I thought I would try a third time. NEVER going back! I ordered a gluten free pizza which was so over cooked you could not chew it. My husbands normal pizza was also cooked to cardboard perfection. And the worst part was the Owner looked at our pizza and yelled at his cook but did not say why and just tossed the burnt pizza into the box and sent it on its way. He won’t be in business long!

Furious with this place! Placed my order using GrubHub. One hour and 15 min wait. Fine. It’s a Friday. One hour and 40 mins later, my order is still being prepared. I call Mangia. They tell me they never received my order, I can get my money back from GH. Never did they offer to make my food; try to make the upset customer happy. After contacting GH and finding out they reached out and confirmed my order with Mangia, I will never go to Mangia again! Horrible customer service! I was lied to. They should be ashamed! And for the record, this is my first Unilocal review and I’ve had this app for years! I’m mad!

To be fair I’ve only been to this place for the yogurt. The flavor and topping options are good, but some of the dispensers were empty or dispensing the wrong flavors(luckily I like coconut or wouldn’t have been happy getting Almond Joy instead of vanilla!) I’m guessing the temp of the freezers aren’t kept consistent because the yogurt isn’t smooth but rather plagued by tiny ice crystals. The staff also seems very lackadaisical and like they just can’t wait for you to go away. They should be at least somewhat excited to be part of a new business and dealing with customers that are adding to that business. I also wasn’t impressed with the cold squeeze-bottles of Ghirardelli chocolate sauce or the filthy old trashcan in the corner.

Ugh, another Centre Street flop! Let me start by saying, I REALLY hope this place gets its act together: I want to see it succeed. However, I went last Saturday night with my daughter and my friend and his daughter. It was 6:00PM on a SATURDAY and the place was completely empty – first bad sign. Next, on a large screen TV, one of those cop shows was playing and it was showing two thugs getting chased at gunpoint. NOTTHETYPEOFPROGRAMYOUWANTAT A «FAMILY» RESTAURANT. Next, we ordered our food: Spaghetti and Meatballs for the kids and we each had the chicken pesto. The kid working the register was nice enough, but he kept screwing up the order. I had to tell him like three times. Still, not a big deal. The chicken pesto took forever to make, and was okay, kind of dry. One thing that bothered me was that I watched them go into the freezer for a bag of meatballs. It looked like a commercial wholesale product, not homemade. Like most new places, they boast free-range this, and organic that, and hand-cut blah blah blah. But these meatballs looked like a reseller product, the same kind I used to see when I worked for a catering company years ago. Still, not a huge deal, but don’t try to differentiate yourself if you’re just gonna offer the same reseller foods every other dime-store sub shop does. I would probably give this place another try in 6 months(if they’re still open), but only because it’s my hometown and I want to see local establishments succeed.

I work nearby, so my coworkers and I were excited to have a new option for lunch. We probably did lunch there 3 times, and every time something was screwed up. First off, the staff doesn’t seem like they are very well trained, and ordering is a mess. The sandwiches we ordered were extremely greasy and felt like they had just come out of a microwave. Not worth the money we paid. Next time, we decided to give the pizza a shot. On two occasions Ive had pizza from here, the first time, we received one pie that was not cooked through, and one pizza we didnt order. The second time we received a pizza with practically none of the toppings we requested on it. At first I thought the only redeeming factor here was the frozen yogurt out front, but it seems like every time I walk by, 2 or 3 of the machines are down or not working. Gave them way too many chances. Don’t recommend you make the same mistake.

I live just around the corner and was pretty pleased to hear that a self-serve yogurt place was opening up in the neighborhood. We walked over last night to try it out and we were immediately impressed with the interior. Large self-serve yogurt selection along the front wall, plenty of seating, including booths, and a number of large TVs playing the World Cup. Cool. We decided we’d have a couple of slices to start with, they had a few pies out and the veggie looked really good, so we gave it a shot. Great pizza, lots of veggies, and very large slices! Not exactly cheap for a slice, but they were tasty and filling so we were happy. After dinner we tried out the yogurt, which lived up to all of my extremely high expectations! Awesome flavor selection, especially the almond joy! A couple things they could work on: 1 — Post the menu — they have a big chalk board above the counter where I’m assuming it may go once they get things going? I hope so. 2 — Organize the ordering process — the staff seemed flustered and it was confusing as to where you were supposed to order pizza from and where you purchased your yogurt. Looks like there are two separate registers for this but they didn’t make it clear so people were all over. Overall, great first experience and I hope Mangia sticks around!
