Cheap! Ice cold draft beer. Salty Edamame. Good sake. Great casual dining ambience. Amazing rolls.

I love to go to this place with my best friend. They serve good sushi and I really have nothing to complain about :) The service is alright.

Bad sushi and food poisoning served here! Not worth the money or poor wait service. Waited too long to order and too long for the check. Then was sick afterwards for 24 hours

I am so BUMMED to be writing this review but it is much needed. I loved this place for many of years and would go a lot but I will no longer be going here. Sadly. I feel it is important to write this in hopes that the business owners will change things for their customers. I noticed over time the quality and mainly the CLEANLINESS has deteriorated. Now if your going at night it may be easier to miss, which is what I did mostly. But the past several times have been in the day, and I was so grossed out and disgusted by what I saw. The menu’s were incredibly old and stained and dirty with smeared food and soy sauce and things I was glad I already knew what I wanted so I didn’t have to touch them. Then the bowl of edemame came, it was all busted and old with shredded wood edges and who knows what bacteria in there from years of build up. The the water came and the whole cup was tattered and chipped all around the edges, thank goodness it came with that straw. And in came the sushi, on a broken and chipped plate. Really? And while I sat in my uncomfortable butt sucking back crippling chair on the patio, I kept snagging my sleeve on the table that was falling apart. and deteriorating. As I ate the sushi I didn’t even feel I had an appetite seeing the film of dirt on the soy sauce spout and glass which also was layered in grime from everyone’s handling. And then the bathroom, always a sign of a clean kitchen or not, I wont even go there with how nasty it was. Let’s just say, they get a TON of business, I don’t know it there was an owner change over a while back but this does not deserve an «A» in the window whatsoever and should get a good visit from the food and health admin. I added pix for you to see unless they pulled them.

First off, they carry Escolar sushi which is a type of Butter fish that most sushi places don’t carry. Second, OMG the sushi is soooooooooooo fresh and good! I mean EVERY piece was A-MAZING! The chefs were so much fun at the sushi bar. Even the valet guy was awesome! This might be one of my new regular spots!

I came in on a Saturday afternoon. The place was empty and the staff was surprised to have a customer. I sat at the bar which I immediately regretted as it smelled faintly like urine and beer. The waitress barely waited or mentioned anything useful after giving me the menu. I came in for some basic rolls but I decided to try just one thing before leaving out of pity. I was handed my salmon roll and I again there was an unpleasant smell, this time of fish. Two stars as I didn’t actually get sick from eating here.

The service is truly rotten. You really have to be your own advocate with the server if you want to get your order or even obtain a pen to fill out the order sheet. And keep alert: They forget orders. But then again, that’s why I like it-I can read a magazine or a book while I wait and they leave me alone for as long as I want to sit. At a table(loud, busy on weekend nights), your party will receive food at wildly different times; at the bar, once your order is in, you control the duration of your evening. I have friends who refuse to come as a group again; alone, I don’t mind. The fish is fresh, but not gourmet quality. So it’s fine for a meal but not for a top-level one.

Love this local spot. Service is great, prices are cheap, and the patio is dog friendly. Is it the best sushi in LA? No. But for the price and chill atmosphere, it’s a great spot.

This place rocks. The prices are outrageously cheap. And it’s happy hour from noon until close. Can’t beat 7.99 pitcher of Sapporo. And the sushi is awesome!!! I recommend it any day.

I went here with my girlfriends from out of town for one of their birthdays and it started it great. The service was good and food was good. Interesting rolls and unique approach on normal sushi. We were all having a great time, when some random customer yells at us because he has a migraine and we were being«too loud» apparently. So we quiet down. Then the manager of the restaurant comes over and waves his hands and says«shhhhhhhhhhh» I thought ok whatever. And when we were leaving he was basically showing us the door with such an angry look. Not a «thanks for coming in and celebrating your bday» nope, nothing. It was like get the hell out. Oh well, don’t go here if you want to celebrate anything.

For reasonably priced sushi in a casual atmosphere, this is a great bet in west Hollywood. On a Friday night it was busy, but the service was still friendly and attentive. Free edamame is included which is a nice touch. I started with miso soup — standard but tasty. The jalapeño yellowtail was not the best I’ve had, but was very very good. I liked the spicy rainbow roll too– the spicy tuna inside tasted fresh and flavorful.

Think twice before you get close to this shady place. This review is not food related. I have made the terrible mistake of parking in the parking lot next to this place around 3pm today. At this point there was no signage of private parking or anything that prepared me to what was coming. When I came back to my car at 8pm it turned out the area i parked at became a valet parking. The valet guy saw me coming and when I was trying to leave he aggressively blocked me off with another’s customer car in a very threatening way. He made it clear he’s planning to trap me there until I pay him the $ 7. I was trying to explain to him I parked there not knowing this is going to turn to a private parking but he didn’t seem to care. I would stay in a safe distance from this place unless you are feel like being assaulted by the valet staff!

I started eating sushi about 4 years ago when I moved to LA. It didn’t take me long to find this place, but once I did, I found a love for sushi. Since then, I’ve been to dozens of different sushi places from west to east coast; I’ve moved to Seattle and tried a ton of places here, trying to find something comparable to Echi. It hasn’t happened yet. This is by far the best sushi I have ever had, and every time I visit the LA area, I make sure I get to stop in here at least once before I leave. It’s like a reunion with an old friend, and I’m crying happy(dry) tears by the time we’re done because I already miss the presence of a Hayashi Roll in my mouth. This place for me is unbeatable, and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend the Hayashi Roll, the Snow Roll, and the Rainbow Roll.

Yet another dual Korean and Japanese eatery that does both poorly. Walked in for lunch and received the worst beef bowl I have ever had: the meat was grey, bland, rubbery; the sauce was too thin, too sweet, and too bland; the vegetables consisted of cold broccoli, cold carrots, and cold string beans, all of which were — you guessed it — bland. Also ordered the Sashimi Special, which looked as if it had been sliced with a very dull knife by someone who didn’t know what it was supposed to look like.

Good quality sushi and loved the 3.99 large warm sake price. This would have been 4 stars but for them forgetting two items of our order. We got our order and wanted two more rolls. After about 20 minutes we told them to just forget it and bring the check. They weren’t even slammed(which I then of course excuse mistakes like this). We had a good experience until the end when we were left unattended and wondering where the heck our last items were. I will probably be back though as I always give places a few times and the food was really good. We had various rolls including spicy shrimp tempura, popcorn lobster roll(misnomer, it is actually langostino not lobster!!!), tuna and salmon sushi and some I can’t recall the name of right now but one was a little sweet(pictured) but really great. But all were quite tastey and at an average price for the area(i.e. Niko Niko, Omi). I am also ashamed to admit we had the extremely unauthentic but oh-so-delicious crab wontons which were pleasantly entirely crab — no cream cheese. They also have a cheap valet, believe it was $ 1/hr.

Price: it’s about average sushi place. They have a pretty good lunch special and happy hour! Food: The portion is good but I think their food seems to have ups and downs. This was my second visit and the first time I came here for a dinner and drinks, everything was solid. My friend and I ordered pretty much one in each category on their menu and every single item was great which is why I came again for a lunch. But this time wasn’t as good as before. The roll wasn’t rolled tight enough and got undone everytime I picked one up.(see pic) Also it was way too sweet, I wasn’t sure if I was eating a roll or some kind of dessert. Sesame chicken that came as a part of the lunch set was over cooked as you can see in the picture I posted. The dipping sauce was good tho. BUT! Surprise! Their Korean food was awesome!!! Wow, the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap was just as good as some of the Ktown restaurants’. The spicy pepper paste was just so good too. My husband LOVES Korean food and if he says it’s good, it is good. I have a feeling we’ll be coming here more often for their Korean foods. Service: the hispanic man who served food and refilled the water, etc. was great. But we weren’t really happy with the young lady who took the order. I remembered her from my first visit because I wasn’t impressed with her service during my first visit. She’s not rude or anything but just looks so unhappy. She’s got no smile on her face and doesn’t really pay attention to the table. Overall: good price range, clean and nice setting, great Korean food should get Echi 5 stars but their mediocre service and the questionable consistency of their food takes some points off. I was gonna give them 3 stars but since I def had 5 star experience on my first visit, I’m averaging it out to 4 stars. I’d visit again for lunch again to see their food is as good as my first visit.

Solid cheap sushi, Matt’s riot is one of the best. Service is lacking at times Tip: If it’s busy make sure you count the rolls you ordered…

One of my go to sushi restaurants in LA. It is very inexpensive but the sushi is always fresh(especially the salmon sushi which I have to get every time). The restaurant is large so there is never much of a wait and great for large groups, they also have outdoor seating. It is on busy Santa Monica Blvd in the middle of WeHo but they do have a lot, after 6pm its valet so you have to pay(usually about a $ 1-$ 2) unless you can find a meter. They have awesome lunch specials as well(ends at 4pm M-F) and happy hour all day! Other than that, this is one of my top sushi spots :)

This is a solid spot for good sushi that won’t break the bank. I would say if you’re looking for a mind-blowing experience, this isn’t your spot. It’s a good neighborhood place that’s casual and satisfying — definitely my go-to for cheaper sushi. I split a variety of rolls with my friends and we liked everything we had. The ambiance is fun — a great place for sake bombing before a night out. They have a nice outdoor area as well. Service was fine — no complaints there.
