Had lunch here after checking out some of the shops in Valley Junction. We decided to sit at the bar because the tables were full(it was a Saturday during college basketball season — so I suppose it was to be expected). The Bloody Mary’s were ordered were phenomenal(and this is coming from someone whose family has a Bloody Mary contests at each family reunion). The food was great — we had the Turkey Melt and 5th Street Quesadilla. The bartender was great; very friendly and attentive. We even met the owner and talk with him for a bit when he was behind the bar. Will be back for sure!

I’ve been here for breakfast twice now. Food is good, place is friendly. I have enough for leftovers. Not very expensive. Love the homey atmosphere.

It’s a bit small but still a great place to watch a game. Service was a bit awkward. She thought we had ordered we had to remind her we didn’t… But all the food came out relatively quickly and it was pretty good. Let’s talk about the bathrooms. The door to the ladies room faces the hallway. So if you were to open it and someone was on the toilet, they would be in plain view. Oh yes. That’s right. No doors on the«stall» of the toilet. There are two toilets separated by a wall. You even get to share a toilet paper roll! Woo! It’s very unorthodox and I’m sure if I were farther into the night, I wouldn’t have cared too much. Hey, at least there’s a TV to watch.

Wonderfully fresh and delightfully tasty. We stopped in for sandwiches and drinks about 6:30 on a Saturday night. We got in and were waited on right away. My wife ordered wine and the waitress also brought her a sample of the house wine to make sure she could sample all her options. Drinks were tasty and the food was prepared quickly and was as fresh and flavorful as any we’ve had in our time in Des Moines. Great experience — we’ll be back.

G Mig’s has a smalltown bar atmosphere but has the best bar food ever(Francie’s is a close second). We go for brunch on the weekends at least once a month, and it’s great and reasonably priced. My go-to for dinner is the East Coast pastrami sandwich. They have a different special every night of the week-one night is Build your own burger, one is steak night, one night is taco night, one night is build your own pasta, etc. It’ all great. I’ve never had anything bad here. I do agree with some other reviewer that the BBQ Brisket nachos need to return to the menu. The place can get a little crammed so get there early if you are planning on watching a game there.

G. Mig’s is still amazing; however, they don’t have BBQ brisket nachos anymore. I’m going to say skip the apps and order dinner or just knock down a couple tangerine or black cherry mules!

Well when you walk into a Cubs bar on the night of a playoff game against the Cardinals you will not find a seat! It’s ok, I’m not staying long, but long enough to have a couple brews, watch a few very exciting innings and enjoy the atmosphere of this Valley Junction neighborhood bar where it seemed like everyone knew each other! So I was a bit of an outsider, but they treated me well, making sure the beer in hand was heavy all the time and they have FREEPOPCORN(always a fave of mine in a bar). The food looks really good, mostly standard bar menu type stuff, but everything I saw come out of the kitchen area, by the bar looked pretty good! The beers were cheap they had a 2 dollar special on tall boys going during the Cubs game, and I was one of the many who took them up on that deal! Lots of tv’s(even one in the men’s restroom, good thing I saw that Cubs homer while going potty!) If there was no tv in the men’s room how would I have known what all that screaming was about out in the bar! All in all this would totally be a place where Harry Carey could get drunk and watch a game!

We came here once for breakfast on a weekend. We got there about 9:00 — 9:30 and it was about ¾ full. We found a little high top in the corner and sat ourselves. Within minutes, a waitress was over to great us and ask us what we’d like to drink. We got our drinks pretty quick and then she took our orders. Our food came out relatively quick as well. Everything was great! My wife had an egg dish, I had an omelet and our daughter got the biscuits and gravy. The wife and I both had home made bread with ours that was amazing and came with some outstanding preserves! We’ll definitely be back to try some other dishes! They looked to have some great diner specials as well.

Went there for lunch a couple weeks ago. The honey whiskey mule was awesome. I ordered the special which was a meatloaf sandwich and chicken vegetable soup. Both were awesome. A friend enjoys the Buffalo Chix Flatbread. Another got the crab cake sliders and really enjoyed them. Another got the lobster roll. Great food and service. Will be back.

Visited G Migs to watch a recent Iowa game. Fun atmosphere! Food was very good and a step up from normal bar food. We just had appetizers(nachos and wings), but I’m looking forward to trying some other things on the menu. Staff was very friendly and efficient, especially on such a busy night. If you’re going to watch an Iowa game, get there early to get a seat!

I went there today with a friend. It was her recommendation. It is a little quirky layout, but we found a spot right away. I am a vegetarian and they clearly don’t cater to vegetarians, but I am used to that. I ended up ordering the East Coast Pastrami, hold the pastrami and the pasta salad. It was great and they didn’t freak out when I ordered. My friend ordered the Mediterranean Flatbread Pizza and said it was great. I told my husband about it and we are going this weekend. I think I am going to get the Mediterranean Flatbread sans chicken. I am very excited about my new find.

Everything in this little«hidden» part of Des Moines is amazing. Just turning on to the street made me say«Wow!» There are a lot of little neat shops and small restaurants with delicious food. Had lunch at this place and their quesadillas are some of the best I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere and felt like home away from home.

Went on a Thursday during valley junctions farmers market and it was packed — and I can see why. Our waitress was really good even for how busy they were. I got the brisket nachos and they were delicious. Their Moscow mules were some of the best drinks in Des Moines. Overall very impressed

This place is a little bit more upscale than a dive bar. But, don’t let that fool you, they have excellent food! Everything we have had here has been excellent and we have been for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Several times. They have great specials, friendly service, and great drinks. It gets very crowded because the word is out. Tables are close together and usually full. Service is efficient and friendly. The owner seems like a great guy. He knows how to make great food.

Very busy today for NCAA Basketball game, but great service, clean and very good food taste. Nice and hot. Cooked right in front of you by busy cooks. Good choices of not so ordinary foods. I had the ground prime rib sandwich which was good. My wife had the chicken Quesadillas and enjoyed them and took half of them home for later to enjoy again. Lots of high quality televisions showing the big game. Beer was cold. Enjoyed our visit. You should too.

Not only is there friendly staff the regulars are that as well. Food they were making smell to die for spaghetti with several sauces. Well had to try the daily brauts and kraut and cream of vegetable soup. I was wondering how you can make it so good. Yes if you get a chance better eat here as well.

This place deserves a prize for how amazing their breakfast is. Seriously. My husband and I made a trek here when they posted on Facebook they open after the snowstorm. I ordered an omelet with andouille sausage, ham and mushrooms with a pancake and hash browns. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs. While we waited for our food, I decided to order one of their Moscow mules since they have a pretty creative selection. I ordered a mango Moscow, which was surprisingly refreshing and delicious. I can’t wait to go back to try the other flavors. I loved my omelet but the perfect pancake and my husband’s amazing biscuits and gravy were the real stars of the meal. The gravy combined with those tasty biscuits was soooo good. Days later I am still thinking about their biscuits and gravy! So if you are in Valley Junction and are hungry, I encourage you to stop by!

I’ve heard rave reviews, but I wasn’t sure– so I decided to check it out on my own. The table set up is awkward. I can’t put it any nicer or more descriptive than that. The food was overall not bad. My accomplice had sausage biscuits, which were delightful. My omelet wasn’t light and fluffy, a bit over done. The seasoning on the potatoes was decent. However, should there have been a sporting event, of the sort where you toss a hide up and down a green, I think this would be an acceptable venue.
