Candlewood Suites Des Moines

The guy at the front desk was helpful and friendly. There are some smoking rooms and the hallway smelled like cigarette smoke, but our room smelled clean and fresh. Our stay was restful, quiet and comfortable. The bed was great except that I would have liked a king; I was told that queens are the largest they have. There is no breakfast, but it is priced cheaper that way. That’s part of the reason we chose Candlewood, so that we could sleep in and go to a local restaurant for breakfast. Internet was decent & faster than most other places I’ve stayed. I’d stay here again.

Clean, quiet and comfortable. No pool or breakfast, neither of which I use. Movie check out and mini store, which I did use. I will pick Candlewood over Holiday Inn from now on. And the room and hall doors close quietlly instead of slaming shut.

I stayed here overnight a couple weeks ago and found it to be just fine. The room was nothing spectacular but it was clean and the mattress was good quality. The lighting wasn’t the best, but the television worked and I liked the desk area and the internet was free and worked well. The fitness center was pretty nice, and I liked that their little convenience store was on the honor system. I’m sure they had surveillance cameras in there or something, but at least the idea of it being on the honor system made it feel like they trusted you. The bathroom was fairly plain, but I must say that they had some of the nicest hotel towels I’ve ever used. They were actually like the towels you would use at home. I guess this is because this place is an extended stay hotel for a lot of people and you’d get sick of the usual rough hotel towels pretty quickly if that were the case.
This was my first stay at a Candlewood Suites and I used my hotel points to pay for it, so it didn’t really cost me anything to stay here. There are a number of other hotels in West Des Moines to choose from that are quite a bit nicer if price isn’t a factor, but if you’re looking to save some money this place should suit your needs whether you’re a business traveler or staying here with family.
