When all you want is a good breakfast before getting on the road…
1. Over medium eggs are not watery and runny
2. Crispy bacon does not flop over
3. Crispy hash browns are browned
4. Your «buttered toast» should have visible butter
It’s great you get your food put so fast, but not so great when it’s at the expense of what your customer actually ordered.
Gross, tasteless breakfast that wasn’t cheap! Should have gone to McDonalds!

We rolled in at around 10 tonight. No one even came to the front for about 10 minutes to take names. When someone finally came we asked if they were taking names and all we got in response was a very flustered «I don’t even know» and then he immediately left without taking any names of the roughly 5 parties there. What a joke.

I like Perkins. I go here when I want a hearty meal or breakfast since they serve it all day. I usually get the country fried steak and eggs breakfast meal with pancakes. This time I was sober when eating and I still enjoyed it :) Perkins isn’t out of this world so don’t expect 5 star cuisine. Our waitress was prompt and nice so no complaints here.

This place doesn’t even deserve a star it deserves negative stars. I arrived at 6pm I was asked my drink Oder even before I sat down and then ordered my food by 6:05pm when I placed my order I was a party of ONE and the waitress sat down wrote down what I wanted even as I pointed it to her on the menu. I waited 45 minutes the waitress brought out the wrong food I had ordered a breakfast biscuit meal she brought out a chicken breast. Waited another half hour still no food had been brought nobody came to check on me or apologize or anything. So, I got up and left. Left hungry, wasted an hour and 15 minutes for absolutely nothing — still no apology was given as I told the waitress I’m leaving the drink will be on her.

This place is open ²⁴⁄₇. They serve breakfast all day long, have awesome French fries, amazing milkshakes, and pretty decent food all around. I’ve been to this place plenty of times after the bar, it never disappoints. I’ve also stopped by to get breakfast plenty of times because their pancakes are super good.
This place is not a fancy restaurant and doesn’t try to be. It’s prices are around $ 10-​$ 15 which is a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Just had another great breakfast at this Perkins! We always get good food here. Clean, nice servers & good food! Bathrooms are clean too.

Terrible Experience! Our server had a large group and kept getting sat with other customers. We waited 20 minutes before being greeted. 15 minutes to get our drinks. My order not only was wrong, but delivered cold. All other servers/​team members were just standing around talking gossip while this waitress was getting her ass kicked. No one offered any assistance to her or us. Manager in his pretty pink shirt just messing around with the hostess’ and making sure all the pies were angled just perfectly in the case. No one had a smile or any sort of enjoyment for what they were doing. Dismal. Mediocre at best. I’ll stick to Cracker Barrel for my Saturday morning breakfast.

What a happy breakfast! Quick friendly greeting, quick close seating. Hot tea with WHOLE POT of hot water. Huge selection of healthy breakfast options. Oatmeal served thick and hot. A whole banana sliced over hot blueberry pancakes. Waitstaff responsive and courteous.
I actually feel I can face the day of meetings!

My boyfriend and I stopped in this past Sunday. We were greeted immediately by the perky, welcoming hostess. It was pretty busy, but they got us seated within the 15 minute estimation we were told. We were sat in a booth towards the back and were served by Jessica. Jessica was awesome! She was so pleasant and always had a huge smile on her face. My boyfriend ordered and omelet with 2 stacks of 3 pancakes and I ordered the mini waffle platter with chocolate chips, bananas and whipped cream. It was delicious! The overall experience was great and I definitely recommend Jessica as a server :)

Was told breakfast was good, but got dinner instead. The turkey sandwich was just… meh but the appetizers were really tasty.
I recommend the appetizers and possibly breakfast but do NOT get dinner items. You’ve been warned.
Also note that the servers are slow as hell. 20 minutes for 2 milkshakes… Riiiight.

We went for simple eggs hash browns coffee. Food was perfect. Service was excellent. Food came out quickly. Would recommend this restaurant. It didn’t have good reviews previously so I was hesitant but glad we went.

recently moved to Des Moines and My office is right next door. Also stayed in Springhills for some time.
Have tried perkins 4 – 5 times in last one month, and always it has gone bad to worse. Today was so horrible, that I am forced to take some time out to write this review.
No one cares. No manager, you can read it, i guess. Your service depends on the waitress you have been assigned.
I ordered an open sandwitch marked as a healthy option, and it was tasteless. I don’t see any preparation in putting white bread, mashed potatoes and reheated meat placed on top of each other and calling that a dish.
last time I had a seafood entry (double something). It was fried so wrong with all oil seeping from inside.
1. change the chef. whoever it is, is not doing the job.
2. Put a manager who roams around and take care of the place.
3. Ask waitress to give a little care to customers. that might even earn you some Tip.
Sorry if I am harsh. I am still sour with the worthless tasting lunch I just had.
Never again.
maybe you can go for some latenight Pie and coffee, as its open 24 hours. but thats the only + point I can think off. never tried myself though.

We came here at 7:30AM Sunday, for breakfast. The place was clean, quiet, and not yet busy.
Our server was sweet, but she made a few mistakes on our order. I later found out that she was new. We all have started a new job before, so it’s okay.
All of our food was excellent! Loved my Eggs Benedict!

A step above Denny’s. I had a Swiss and Mushroom Omlete. According to classic cooking, the chef whips the eggs, puts them into a pan, adds extras and viola, an omlete. But Perkins somehow cooks the eggs very thinly and then folds then with few fillings into a «package». A little strange… Hash browns and toast were tasty. Coffee was O.K.The restaurant was clean and sparsly decorated.

This place has some crappy management. The fat general manager in the front with a salmon colored buttoned up shirt and bald head lacked hustle.
There were not enough waitresses and we had to wait too long for a booth when there were plenty available. The older waitress seemed overwhelmed and when I asked her how long we would have to wait, she gave me attitude. Not to mention the yucky sticky crap on the table.
There goes your tip, lady. Learn some manners.

Lousy service and mediocre food. We were seated at a dirty table. It had coffee cup rings and dried on food. This is really a last resort destination. It always gets under my skin when customers, not just me, are waiting for service and the servers and hostess and busy socializing.

Service good. Scrambled eggs sucked!!! How do you make dry paper thin shards out of eggs??? Icky!!!

Beyond bad. Our party of 5 were staying at the Springhill Suites next door.
At 8:00 pm on a Sat. night, Perkins was not so busy. Just what we wanted– a pretty fast simple dinner. Painfully sloooow! Waitress (not too big on friendliness or smiling) took forever to just come take drink orders.
Same to deliver and take food order. Meanwhile we get restless.
Order is placed, and our 5 egg ‘breakfast’ orders are not arriving. No other food is coming out of kitchen. Nothing. Finally seeing a manager type appear for 1^st time, I go up to ask if everything is alright… maybe we should pay for drinks and bolt for the Culvers across the street? He goes to check, and suddenly our food appears. Never see him again.
Waitress was never appologizing. Food was very mediocre– I’m being kind here…
I would avoid this place at all costs– apparently the manager is a big part of the problem, not just one server, not one night. There were maybe 6 tables that night.

Rokked this Perkins HARD when we were in Des Moines. Once after pounding enormous beers at the Hessen Haus, and once for brunch. Not using the royal we here, ’twas 2 business associates and I. Our company was moving to Des Moines, and this Perkins is right next door to the Marriott we stayed in. My colleagues must have enjoyed their eggs and hash extra extra style because they moved here.
For the east-​coasters: it’s similar to a Denny’s. Good, not great. Better quality than Bickford’s. And jaw-​droppingly good milkshakes.
I won a chew toy stuffed animal for my doggy from the claw machine!
Your meal is free if the waitress doesn’t offer you some pie. If that doesn’t scream «Good morning!» than I don’t know what does.
Plus it was great fun imagining the look on the accountant’s face when we turned in receipts from our 3 AM meal to be reimbursed.
