Carried out from Olga’s recently. The crazy part is that our family has sworn off Olga’s more times than I can count. The local chain has been plagued by awful customer service for over 20 years and has managed somehow to stay in business. You ask why would I have visited Olga’s recently, fair question. It was Sunday and my family and I where on our way home after a soccer game. My wife tossed out the question asking our kids if we could just pick them something up. They both agreed Olga’s would be ok. We called ahead by a good fifteen minutes and they told us the food would be ready in ten minutes. We arrived fifteen minutes later and then waited another ten minutes. True to form when unpacking the bags at home parts of our order that we paid for where not included! I would not be surprised if statistically Olga’s screws up more orders than they get correct. I kick myself every time I get dragged back to Olga’s– the home of $ 20 cheese bread sandwiches. If you don’t care about decent service and don’t have the time or inclination to search out somewhere with decent food then I would suggest you will enjoy Olga’s of West Bloomfield.

I’m a huge Olgas fan! Not exactly a gyro, although the presentation appears to be. The pita has a seeetness to it and the olga sauce has a zesty flavor thst I love. Curly fries are hit and delicious. Try the snackers too!

The kids love having dinner at Olga’s. It’s affordable and friendly. The kids meals are $ 4 and they include a drink. The waitstaff help each other so if you need anything, just ask anyone. There is always a manager available to thank you for your service or inquire if we need anything. We love their lemonade!

It has been 35+ years since I visited Olga’s Kitchen. Why? I don’t really remember specifically why. I don’t recall any major disappointments, nor do I recall anything exceptional. They have two reasonably convenient locations nearby. Olga’s is another of those local, small-ish chain operations that has fallen on hard times. I do like to support local businesses rather than InsertFacelessNationalChainFoodHere ops. Olga is a real person, not a marketing invention. They had a GroupOn. GroupOn kicked in another 20%. I was hungry. Why not? I arrived at their West Bloomfield store ~6:30PM. They were a teenie bit busy. I was seated almost immediately. Jade arrived promptly with a menu and water. I use Unilocal Check-In as a reminder to write a view. It seems that my check-in earned me a dessert. I deferred the dessert to a subsequent visit. Going in, my plan was to order three gyros and take two home, then I noticed white bean, chicken chili on the menu. I’m a sucker for white bean, chicken chili. It arrived swiftly and was served hot. Good job. I hate it whenever«hot food» is served«just warm.» The flavors and texture were good. I like a bit of heat in most of my foods and my itty-bitty pocket bottle of Tabasco came to my rescue. It is served with what I thought were toasted pita points, but they weren’t toasted, just seasoned with something, perhaps a bit of paprika and salt? The Olga gyro? The meat was a tad overcooked, almost to the point of being dry. Almost. I like their pita recipe, but wonder if it includes a sweetner? The sauce is good enough. I kept thinking, «needs garlic.» Of course, I think everything is better with garlic; or, Tabasco. You’ve been warned. Jade was an excellent server; knowledgeable, attentive, effective and she anticipated my needs. Also a girl with a great smile. The dining room and bathrooms were clean. Guest WiFi rocks, but it is not encrypted. Thankfully, the PoS systems are not accessible from the Guest WiFi network(an all too common problem at many restaurants). A reasonably full network security scan found no networking shenanigans(that night). CCW is allowed. Why only four stars? 1. The guest check/receipt includes the server’s surname. Customers ought not be provided the full name of their server. If Jade were my daughter, I would be seriously unhappy with this OPSEC lapse that enables stalking. 2. The meat was overcooked. Almost dry. Almost.

The food is never the issue at Olga’s — it is the service, all always has been going back as long as I can remember. At the most recent visit: Food: Wonderful. The salad, sandwiches, soup, drinks — all good. Service: We walk in, and there is no staff available to acknowledge our existence. The take-out worker did not notice us, there is no hostess or manager in view. Are we supposed to just seat ourselves? Finally after 2 minutes a waitress says to us from across the restaurant«someone will be with you» as she was walking back into the kitchen. Really? There are only about 5 – 6 tables used, with about 30 tables open. When it was time to pay, I was literally holding the bill and my credit card up for 10 minutes until the waitress came by to take it.

Two disappointing visits in a row. Kitchen served one meal 10 minutes before the other two meals. No dressing on a salad. Not hurrying back.

Olgas is my favorite restaurant but this location disappointed me. The fries were cold and tasted horrible. I ordered a gyro and it tasted like it was left out for hours and it was cold as well. When we first got there it took 20 minutes for us to even get water and our server was very rude. The smackers were okay but they were cold too. Then we asked to speak to a manager and it took 10 minutes for her to come and didn’t seem apologetic at all. We waited another 15 minutes for the check. At this point we were very mad and the manager was still rude. Horrible experience.

Sadly, Olga’s is one of my favorite restaurants. We were so excited about stopping in when visiting from out-of-state. My aunt, who lives local, suggested this location was much better than the one closer to us. WHAT. A. MISTAKE. First off, to food is just as good as you’d expect: It’s always delicious. The service, however, left much to be desired. We had a relatively new server, so really tried to cut her a break. Here’s our timeline and issues: 12:50 … Seated 1:05 … Server arrives at table, takes drink and app order 1:25 … Drinks arrive 1:35 … We tell what looks like a manager that we don’t want the app we ordered as we have somewhere to be 1:40 … Waitress brings app out, puts on table with dirty and wet app plates and leaves 1:45 … We flag down guy who looks like manager again to say we didn’t want the app, and we only have three silverware and dirty plates. He seems surprised we had not received lunch yet and disappears to check 1:50 … We flag down another server when no utensils or clean plates are brought — or lunch — and ask to speak to the manager again(as we watch people at other tables who arrived after us getting their food) 1:55/2:00 … Manager(different guy) cones out, we explain situation, he says he will take app off bill and we can keep it and that food is coming right out. It does(missing one of our entrees) a few minutes later from other guy, who I have to remind again that I don’t have silverware. Or a meal, consequently. 2:10 … Waitress comes by(first time in 30 minutes), asks if we are finished. We say yes and she begins to clear. Says something about the bill. We ask if they could make sure the soup, fries and dessert we ordered and never received would get taken off. She says the dessert is on the way out and asks if we still want it, but makes absolutely no apology or expression of concern over missing food. 2:15/2:20 … After another five/ten minutes of dealing with the other guy again, and three rounds of back and forth to the register, we finally have corrected bills and are able to pay and leave. Food? Awesome. Service? Unbelievably epic fail.

I used to love Olga’s when I was young. So I thought I would drop in as it had been years. Food was okay, service was good, but there was something lacking from the food… Idk. Probably won’t be back. Wasn’t worth the price.

They changed their pricing(again). The Olgas no longer come with a side item. Also, they no longer have Single-Double-Triple coupons. They also don’t have the discount card which they used to. If you sign up for email, you get coupons through that. I believe there is also a frequent visitor card and some other discount card that expires every 30 days, but I’m confused about the whole thing. I just want my Olga and the lower the prices is, the more often I can go there!

I love Olgas. I moved away from Michigan in 2011, and am currently visiting. My wife and I used to go to this location all the time and we went today for the first time in a year, unfortunately it has gone down hill. The food has not changed much except that they got rid of the Santa Fe Olga, which was the absolute bomb. They got rid of it about 2years ago, and since then nothing has really impressed me. The snackers are always great. But that’s not enough. The service has gone down here. Don’t know why. Oh well, if you’ve never had Olgas, I recommend it but I am disappointed from what I expected from before.

This was my go-to Olga’s location when I was living with my parents. Always an easy place to meet with friends and eat some good food. The atmosphere of Olga’s is like an 80’s restaurant and the food prices are always much higher than I expect/remember… but I love that olga bread and cream of broccoli soup, so I will always shell out for it. I think most Olga’s have free wifi, but I’m too busy stuffing my face to ever log in, so I can’t remember if this location has it or not.

The bread is a 5 Star. Don’t come here if you’re on a low carb diet. I love the Olga’s salad and white bean chicken chili. One of my daughters likes the peasant soup and the other the kids loves the hotdog wrapped in the addictive bread. You may wonder, why 3 stars… Two reasons. The service is mediocre, and often poor. And the bathrooms. No joke, my kids walk next door in the shopping center to Five Guys burgers and use their facilities. That’s crazy. We’ve even informed them via the restaurant surveys about the unclean bathrooms, but they just don’t seem to care. We keep coming back for the things I mentioned at the beginning, and because it’s a place we all like for casual dining.

Ordered a carry-out last night so my fiancé could have something to eat after work, plus I didn’t wanna worry about what to bring for my lunch break at work today. I called the number and the girl on the phone was… let’s just say she sounded like she was a new hire or something along those lines. I told her I wanted to get the Olga sandwich, and then I asked her which she thought was better between the Shawarma and the Mediterranean. She told me she hasn’t tried either of them. I was kind of surprised, but figured she must be new. I told her I wanted the Shawarma, and she said, «Okay so you want a Chicken Mediterranean?» Umm… no lady I just told you I want a Chicken Shawarma. She asked me what side, and I told her I only wanted the sandwich. She seemed really distracted… like she wasn’t paying attention to the phone call whatsoever. I almost hung up and decided to go elsewhere, but after attending Unilocal’s Big Fat Greek Party on Wednesday and meeting Olga, I felt bad… like she shouldn’t lose business over some incompetent employee. I stuck with the original plan, and remained on the phone. She asked me if I was coming inside, I told her yes. She told me 15 minutes — never asked for a name, gave a total, nothing! I get there, and I was really nervous everything was going to be messed up. The order was right, but initially there was some difficulty in them finding my order in the computer to ring me up. The ticket said«Grace,» but I never gave her my name so I’m guess it must’ve showed up on called ID or something. IDK. Anyways, the 2 people working carryout were so much nicer and attentive. They looked like they were annoyed with the person(my ticket said«Joy» — Bartender) who inputted the orders. 4 Stars — Fiancé said«That gyro was the bomb!» Carryout people were nice & understanding. Order was correct. Phone service for placing my order wasn’t really up to par. Would’ve gave 5 otherwise.

What a comedown from«back in the day»! We have been patronizing this Olga’s for many, many years! Since Olga, herself, actually owned it and her photo hung inside. In the last year or so, we have seen drastic changes in the food and management. Not only has the food quality dropped to pure mediocrity, but we have seen a steady procession of store managers in the past few months — kind of like Jax Kar Wash across the street — with cars going in and out in a matter of minutes! i exaggerate, but we must have seen at least 8 – 10 managers come and go in just the past few months! BTW — nothing wrong with Jax’s quality and service. It was just a simile, guys. Look it up! The wonderful Peasant Soup recipe is a shadow of its former self. It is thin, watery and tasteless. Not once, but on the past few visits.(It may even have given me a nearly instantaneous stomach problem I won’t elaborate on, when I got home!) We were there for dinner this evening, a Sunday night at 6:00PM, and there were very few tables and booths occupied. We had to ask the hostess to send a waitress, as we sat alone for over ten minutes after being seated! When she came, she was cordial and efficient, but we might still be waiting there now(8:45PM), had we not asked to be helped. Note: there were about as many waitstaff there tonight as there were occupied tables, so something is very wrong! The curly fries were just OK — a bit undercooked — and the Olga was sufficient. The Snackers and cheese, always a personal favorite, were as good as ever. It is my feeling and prediction that this inconsistency in food quality and service is leading to a temporary closing, where Olga’s will get its act together and(hopefully) reopen with the quality and service we once enjoyed back in place. Until then, I think we will eat elsewhere!

This Olga’s brings back so many memories every time I visit. My friends and I used to come here since middle school for half days and early releases. The food and service has stayed consistent, which is a good thing. My favorite items to order are the snackers and the grilled chicken Olga. The snackers are so good, especially when it’s cold out and you dip them in broccoli soup. The sandwich is always made well and contains honey mustard which adds so much flavor. The reason why I give it 4 stars is due to the high fat and calories. You have the JAFF(just about fat free) bread to swap, but the calorie content in all their meals is abnormally high. Otherwise, it’s a great place for an occasional lunch/dinner out.

Well… they fucked it up. I’m officially done with this location. While visiting Detroit for Thanksgiving, I talked my whole family into coming here for lunch on 11÷29÷13 instead of Uptown Grill since I was really craving a Three Cheese Olga. Big mistake. Our waitress was a miserable slob named Lisa who appeared to be so out-of-it when she took our order, I had a feeling something would go horribly wrong. And it did. Half an hour went by and none of us had even gotten our salads or soups yet. Finally, a few minutes later, she brought out two salads out of seven. Eventually the rest of our food came and it was not lukewarm, but cold. So obviously, it had been ready for a while, but was left sitting out. And yeah, they were busy, but not THAT busy, trust me. When Lisa finally got around to bringing our food out, my plate had fries on the side instead of the salad and soup I ordered, and did she apologize? No sir. What a wreck. When my order was fixed and I finally started eating, I can’t even describe how depressing it was to eat a Three Cheese Olga with cold cheese inside. Plus they skimped on the cheese, bigtime. But I felt even worse for my family who I dragged there when they don’t even care for the place. When I visit Detroit, I can generally only fit in a few meals at restaurants and I usually save a slot for Olga’s. Well, that slot will now go to Buddy’s Pizza or Leo’s. What a disappointment.

This was 2nd time experiencing Olga’s Kitchen. I enjoy their steak and cheese sandwich and cream broccoli soup. Staff’s were nice and friendly for both of my dining experience. I never thought to eat at Olga’s because I thought it was more traditional American food restaurant. Recommended to all ages. ;)

After a not so pleasant visit a couple of years ago, we tried again. When we came through the side door, there was a sour smell. Our server sat us and my guest and I both felt«stuff» crunch under our feet. The menus had spots of food and we decided not even to chance it with ordering food. C’mon Olga’s, if the front of the place is that dirty, I don’t even want to think about what’s in the kitchen.

This was my first visit to Olga’s. We started out with Olga’s Snackers which came out relatively quickly and was good. I also had the broccoli soup which was good and creamy. I ended up getting The Original Olga which was pretty good. I would have liked more flavors and spices but it wasn’t bad at all. The Olga bread is really good. We finish with the brownie dessert and the bread pudding. The brownie was good and we liked it. Definitely big enough to share with multiple people and had whipped cream and caramel and chocolate. The bread pudding was decent but probably not something I would want again. I just didn’t think the flavors went great together. The service was very disappointing. I ranout of ice tea and the waitress is nowhere to be found and doesn’t come to check on us after we get the main dishes nor is the manager. +5 minutes after I run of out ice tea I finally see the waitress and can ask for ice tea and my girlfriend asks for more soda. Probably close to 10 mins later, we finally get our drinks refilled. After we finish our meal, the waitress only takes away a small portion of the plates. We have to ask her to remove the rest and she just responds that she will in a bit. Even after we pay, she still hasn’t removed all the plates. Other customers seemed to have similar disappointing experience with the service as you could easily overhear them discussing how«poor the service is at this location».
