My experience at this place was terrible. I had a groupon for tea tasting so my fiancé and I went. We are big tea drinkers and love a wide variety of teas so we were excited to go. When my fiancé and I were looking over the list of «over 40 different teas», the kid that works there kept asking us at least every 2 minutes if we have decided and got his pen and notepad all ready. We kept saying no. He wouldn’t give us a chance to look over the tea menu at all. The kid also kept telling us he was new, that it was his 3rd day there. He kept making mistakes, saying the wrong thing, and appearing all nervous. His trainer was nowhere near him overseeing what he was doing. The trainer was playing on her computer across the room. When we finally placed our order and found a place to sit and chat, we noticed that there was no music playing at all. This café is a big open room with chairs along the wall and wide open floor space so any sound echoed. There were a group of teens there that were friends with the new kid, just hanging out. They were making a lot of noise, talking, laughing… They were obnoxiously loud. If there was some type of music, it would’ve at least helped direct our attention away from the teens. The teens proceeded to play with the sound system, which they didn’t seem to know how to use, making a lot of thudding and screeching sounds on the mic. One girl said«hey! Let’s do karaōke!» The last thing I wanted to hear while enjoying some tea would be teens singing loudly at this place. During the tasting, my fiancé and I noticed that the tea cups still had lipstick and other residue on it, and the teapots had thick brown residue on the inside of the spout. We brought it to the attention of the kid and he apologized and said«oh sorry, we’ll sanitize the pots tonight.» We just can’t believe how filthy the teapots and cups were. Along with the obnoxious group of kids, lack of background music… ugh. Two of the three teas were gross. I am a huge tea drinker but these were pretty bad. The Acai one tasted like flat red bull that’s been heated up. All in all, the 30 $ groupon for this place was a fail. We’ll never come back.

Maybe it’s because I had super high expectations of the place? But to be honest, how much expectation can you have from a froyo place? I like my froyo tart, like real tart, and very little sweetness. If I want sweetness, I would rather go have ice cream, which I also love. Their selection of flavors is wide, I think they had like 14, but I tasted 5 or so and none of them really appeased my palette. I still got some and enjoyed it somewhat but meh-I’ve had better. What redeems Leaf & Berry is the space layout. It’s well decorated, simple and clean. Tastefully adorned with monochrome pictures with a splash of color. There’s a small stage in the inside corner where no doubt the bingo balls are placed on Saturday nights for drag-queen bingo. The chairs and tables are interesting to look at and comfortable to sit on. I would go there to hang out with some friends, especially if I was at Shangri-la, but not specifically to eat froyo. For that, I’d go to Swirlberry across Maple.

I’ve been wanting to come here since I seen their Groupon for Drag Queen Bingo. Then it was a done deal when I found out they sell Bubble Tea — I had to go now! This place is pretty cool. «Salad bar» of frozen yogurt toppings, and a wall of probably at least 10 different flavors of frozen yogurt — not 100% on how many because I didn’t exactly count… just guesstimating. I went to the counter and ordered Bubble Tea — the employee told me that they were out of the tapioca bubbles but they had pearls. I told her I didn’t like the pearls, so I wasn’t interested. She said they only had one scoop left of bubbles, I told her it was ok & never mind. Another girl came out and the first one told her to wait on me — I’m guessing cause she was already making drinks. I asked her which was better — Caramel Apple Chai or the Salted Caramel Chai. Salted Caramel it is! I paid, and stood at the counter waiting for my drink. The one girl asked her if I paid and then they kind of looked at me weird, so I looked around. It was really strange. When my drink was done I went to get it, and they both looked at me like I was robbing the place or something. It was very awkward and strange! Maybe only regulars go there so it was weird to see someone new? Regardless, I’m probably not gonna go at night anymore. As for the drink — $ 3.04 for a large(16 oz?) Salted Caramel Chai latte. Topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. It’s pretty delicious, but tastes more like a graham cracker to me than salted caramel. It’s a pretty good price in comparison to other coffee shops, so I’ll be back. Next time I’ll try the Caramel Apple Chai, or get Bubble Tea granted they’re not out of tapioca bubbles.

This is the place to be on any evening. I am a student and I love being here. I get alot of my college work done with the free wifi and the ambiance of this place helps me to concentrate alot. Leaf and berry have stepped up a notch with their menu items offering various teas along with their frozen yogurt flavors. Def a place to go when you visit this place.
