I go here at least twice a month for their sushi happy hour… It’s probably overshadowed by the fancier sushi joints in the area but if you’re looking for good food, no frills, and great prices, give this place a shot. Recently, I tried one of their specialty rolls which was very unique and incredibly tasty… It’s was called«special roll» of course!(as I just discovered when I pulled up their menu)… But it’s made with shrimp tempura, eel, avocado, cucumber, tobiko wrapped in soybean seaweed! Yum! Typically, we always get a ton of salmon and white tuna nigiri which are always fresh with the perfect rice to fish ratio… And during happy hour, it’s half off! Highly recommended.

I was super disappointed with my delivery order. I ordered Thai red curry duck with fried rice instead of steamed rice and cellophane wrapped spring roll. The Thai red curry was definitely not Thai red curry. It was not even curry. It tasted like it was made with tabasco sauce, plus it had tofu in it. Quite bizarre. The fried rice was simply fried rice, no egg, peas, other diced vegetables one typically finds in fried rice. Sadly, the spring roll was deep fried. I was hoping for a simple unfried spring role. It was not to be. I won’t order from here again.

Biggest problem for me was the not 1 but 2 hairs stuck to the bottom of my California roll. That and, rolls weren’t great. Fish was chilled, fake crab in the California roll. Oh and the sushi chef hair.

A good Chinese restaurant(with a sushi menu?! — their real specialty seems to be the Chinese dishes) on the Hill(compared to others in this neighborhood). They have good undon noodle options if you are not into the greasy kind of Chinese food. They also have a long list of more standard Chinese dishes. Service is good. I tried their udon and it’s good. They also have the popular bubble tea. They have a «pan-Asian» menu: Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Malaysian, Chinese. An unusual mix.

This is my go-to for Chinese delivery on the Hill. I think it’s by far the best option for Chinese delivery, and my husband and I have tried basically all of them. The crab ragoons are awesome, so are the wonton shrimp purses. The Capital Hill honey shrimp is also very good and different. The shrimp is deep fried and served with pineapple and honey sauce. Their Chinese standards — kung pow, orange chicken – are well sauced but not gloopy. I will say that I’ve noticed the breading on their fried food can taste stale on Sunday’s. It’s not all the time, but I have noticed in on the occasional Sunday only. Not sure what’s up with that — maybe they don’t get their new food orders till Monday?

Ordered pad thai and steamed meat dumplings and was severely disappointed. The pad thai wasn’t ‘Thai Hot’ as requested and had no spice at all. It was a mush of pink noodles with no flavor with what was supposedly chicken. It tasted and looked premade from many hours or even days ago and reheated. It is the worst pad thai I’ve ever had, by far. The dumplings were no better. They were 90% breading that was still extremely doughy and uncooked. The meat was some kind of sausage or link that was pre-made and just cut to size for dumplings. It is the worst combo I’ve ever tasted and beg of you… look elsewhere for good food, this isn’t where you’ll find it.

Disgusting food. Very long wait. Total waste of money. I’ll never order there again. I ordered two main entrees just to get a sense of how it might taste and to have leftovers. The only good food was my fortune cookie.

I love this place. The staff is friendly and the food is tasty. It has an extensive vegetarian/vegan menu. I eat here all the time and you should too!

The food is great, sushis are so yummy and generous size!!! We loved here and next time in DC we will definitely come back!!! Owner is very friendly and even brought us an extra sushi because we ordered one that we didn’t like it because it was deep fried and we didn’t know. It was our mistake ordering something without asking and she was so kind and made us feel welcome and happy! Thx and see you next time

I ordered the food to be delivered, & it arrived on time. That’s the only good news. All three items we ordered were bad, bad & bad. The Vietnamese spring rolls were dreadful. The jumbo shrimp with cashew nuts should be renamed paltry shrimp with very few cashew nuts. The lemon chicken came with a sauce that had no flavor of lemon whatsoever. We tasted it & then put it down the garbage disposal. Very disappointing.

Good options on large menu, inexpensive, decent food, usually beat delivery estimates. They lost the 5th star because they never remember utensils or napkins, so I always have to be somewhere that already has forks, chopsticks, or something. Good if I’m at home with my kitchen, but bad if I’m at an office.

This is our favorite Chinese delivery! The crab Rangoon is a favorite. We always order the egg drop soup. Their fried rice is on point. They put lots of meat which is always a plus for me! The deliverers have always been super quick and friendly. The employees who take my order is attentive and precise. Never had a problem with this place and will continue to call them when I don’t feel like cooking or whenever I’m craving Chinese food at home!

Terrible. My partner insists on coming to this place bc it was good in the 90s. So today we went again, because it was cold and rainy, Chinese sounded like a good idea and we didn’t know of any others nearby. We tried to keep it simple. She got the chicken and broccoli in garlic sauce. The chicken had that oddly processed texture and the flavor was just strange. I can’t explain what was off about it but it just wasn’t good. I ordered the Kung pao chicken. The small chunks of chicken”(which tasted more like pork or something else…) was tough, chewy and completely unappetizing. After about three attempts, I just gave up and ate the peanuts. That was my last visit. There has GOT to be better Chinese nearby.

Young Chow is a good delivery option and is our go to option for Chinese delivery on the Hill. We only have ordered vegetarian options and found them to be good. Pretty consistent as well. The Singapore noodles(no egg with tofu) is a very solid dish. The Szechuan style string beans are great when they are spicy. Finally, I really like the General Tso’s Vegetarian Chicken is unique in that the TVP nuggets are separate from the sauce so there are no sogginess issues.

I have been here a few times and have also ordered for delivery. Here is my breakdown of the food: Sushi-it’s a pretty good selection of rolls and has all the basic items you could want. The rolls are well-sized and very delicious. Pricing is pretty good. Thai-probably the best part about the restaurant is it’s pineapple fried rice. It is amazing. Chinese-it’s okay. Has basic dishes and they’re made alright. The egg rolls are big and really yummy. Overall, I recommend this spot. The food is good, especially considering the price.

GREAT, FASTDELIVERY. But that’s it. :-/ It’s very possible that I they just have no idea how to make Thai Red Curry, but I eat Thai Red Curry Chicken very often and even though I get it from all different places it still has a similar taste to it. I bought that today for lunch from YC through GrubHub, and as my stomach growled I opened the container. I noticed that it didn’t look right at all. Sure it was red, but it didn’t look like typical red curry, and it didn’t smell like red curry. Hoping it would at least taste like somewhat like it, I took a bite. YUCK! It was disgusting. I have no idea what they put in it, but it’s just nasty. They might make AMAZING foods other than this, but I’ve got to recommend not trying this particular item on their list. BTW — also got vegetable spring rolls. They were okay, but I wouldn’t order them again. The bottle of Pepsi I ordered — FAB.

Low-quality food in my opinion. My curry noodle was so watery instead of thick, and they used two kinds of noodles as if they had ran out of what they were supposed to use. The chicken in the curry tasted funny… I didn’t bother eating another piece. The curry itself was pink instead of a dark orange. The dish was just weird to me… like it was half-assed and made from scraps. The sushi was ok. Maybe they could’ve fooled a non-Asian with their bad curry noodle, but since I’m Malaysian, I know what the authentic dish is supposed to look like and how it should taste.

Chinese food is the what I think of when it’s a «take out» kinda night. It reminds me of the taxi driver in Desperately Seeking Susan«I had some of that sushi the other night. Took it home, cooked it. Tasted like fish.» I do realize that sushi isn’t Chinese food and that sushi is in fact fish; however, a lot of Chinese take out spots in DC, including Young Chow, are actually Chinese-Thai-sushi restaurants. Unfortunately it seems like a lot of these places would do better if they stuck to the one thing they did well. We found Young Chow by recommendation from the former-Yelper Brian B and our first time wasn’t too bad. The Singapore noodles(vermicelli noodles with curry powder) were actually pretty good and reminded me a lot of those from Great Wall on 14th St. I’ve never been the hugest fan of Chinese take out but Great Wall made me much more amiable to an increased frequency of Chinese dining back in the days when Justin lived in Logan Circle. We also had the twice cooked pork which was not at all what we were expecting nor similar to any twice cooked pork we’d had before. We rolled with it though and had an ok meal. Our second trip fared a bit worse. Having forgotten that we’d tried the twice cooked pork(mostly because that wasn’t what we consider twice cooked pork), we ordered it again. The pork was as odd as before but this time there was more cabbage than pork. We went for a different kind of noodle having enjoyed the Singapore noodles before but were highly disappointed by the mass of congealed Drunken Noodles we received. Order to delivery time was just 35 minutes and we don’t live too far away so there’s really no way the noodles could have transformed except that they were just cooked poorly. The menu stated that the Drunken Noodles came with ground chicken but instead we received huge pieces of sauteed chicken which were even more awkward to eat with the gloopy, slimy noodles. Overall the meal was a major letdown. Helpful notes: prices are reasonable for the amount of food in an order, there are lunch and dinner prices/portions, and it’s just a $ 1.99 processing/delivery fee. You can order online by creating an account and plugging in your credit card info or just calling after looking at the menu online. Rice is included with entrees(besides rice and noodle dishes). We won’t be ordering take out or delivery from Young Chow again. Now we’re Desperately Seeking(good) Delivery.

I can honestly say this is the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life. My buddy ordered the salmon avocado rolls and confessed later that he thought he was going to throw up from them. I ordered the tom ka gai soup and it’s the worst I’ve had. The chicken was rubber and it had tomato stems in it. I guess we should have taken a hint from the fact that we were the only ones in the place. The Thai iced tea was just okay. DONOTGOHERE!

I placed a late night order and it arrived 45 minutes later – not bad! The chirashi was decent. The ma po tofu was absolutely disgusting – do NOT order this. At the very best, it was firm tofu in a gross reddish sauce. The duck and general tso’s are also nasty. I had to throw the rest of the food away – something I rarely do. TMI, this restaurant also gave me bathroom issues.
