As far as «corner liquor store» places go, Sunset is the best. Bobby is the sweetest man alive, and is always so helpful. He greets me by name every time, and never hesitates to let me come in with my dog, who he also greets by name! I would say that, generally, it seems their prices are maybe a dollar more than you’d find at a larger establishment, but that doesn’t even remotely diminish their rating!

Sunset is the best. Bobby is the best. Best selection in alcohol AND icecream. And I just had his wife’s Indian food from their stand out front and they are definitely consistent –The best. Kind, generous people, GREAT service. Thanks for adding to the charm and community of Bloomingdale!

This place is an institution and has a strong sense of Bloomingdale neighborhood. I have watched it grow with the neighborhood, and Bobby seems to be well connected to each member of the community. First time I walked in here was to grab some beer, I walked out with a friendship. They had a TON of cool options in local, domestic and foreign brews. I almost didn’t know where to start, but one of the employees helped me pick something nice. I am pretty impressed with their grown collection of Scotch and Wine! If there is a special spirit that you are just jonesin for, just ask one of the nice folks behind the desk. I am sure they will make it appear on your next visit. Overall, its all i expect from my local wine/spirit store.

It’s all relative right? I lived in Pennsylvania all of my life until moving to DC over a year ago. I never thought I’d say this, but boy do I miss state-run liquor stores. Depending on where you go in DC, the prices can be sky high. I went here hoping to find some deals, but it seemed pretty run of the mill. Sure, it’s nicer than places with bullet proof glass, but that doesn’t make it a 5-star joint in my book. I will say the man behind the counter was extremely nice. I mentioned that I was looking for mini bottles of champagne(the ones at Giant seemed to be priced too high). He didn’t carry them, but he seemed to take my request seriously. Someone let me know if they start to carry them!

This is as good as it gets in the District! Before I discovered Sunset Spirits, I would go to the sketchy bodegas or those inflated liquor stores to get the good stuff, but I always come out feeling robbed — either in quality or money! I thought to myself life isn’t fair! Then I came across Sunset Wine & Spirit. This is hands down the best liquor store in the district — better than Barrel House on 14th. You can get hard liquor imported from India, the Caribbean, etc. — I’m not talking about the Bacardis and the Captain Morgans, I’m taking about the unheard of stuff that goes down extra smooth. Plus. ..(drumroll). .. it’s at a great price! Also, the guys that run the place are extra nice.

Best wine selection I’ve found in the area and great prices. Friendly service too! I’ve never purchased liquor here, but the selection looks pretty diverse.

Better than a lot of the liquor stores in the area. No glass screen in between the register and the patrons. Usually no loiterers standing outside. They sell Natty Boh which is hard to find in the district and they have a buy one get one free wine deal on tuesdays.
