This place closed, apparently a few months ago. Tried to come by on Friday April 17th only to find it shuttered. True to form as reported in many of the reviews, the owners just didn’t seem to care. Hence, being closed for months without posting this information on their website, social media, or even a sign in the window. They were not a very good bar, but they did have a very nice patio.

I hate to be negative about a place in my neighborhood but Park View Patio has done nothing but disappoint, despite giving them several chances. I went once the week they opened, and they were woefully unprepared — basic bar tools such as a muddler were missing, and the tap system for beers wasnt working yet. But, it was opening week, so I went several more times over the next year. Every time has been at best mediocre and at worst abysmal. The last straw was the one time I ordered food. There was a burger on the menu described as having cheese, onions, mushrooms, and bacon, which my friends and I ordered. Imagine our surprise when we received plain, overcooked burgers with just lettuce and a tomato. When we asked the bartender, she pointed us to the menu: in small print, below the description of all the toppings, it said«each topping additional 50 cents.“Who writes a menu like that?!? Sorry, Park View Patio, but there are two far superior establishments on the same block, and they will always get my business from now on.

If I actually had service I may have given 2 stars. Having a whore bartender in fishnets and booty shorts on her phone, texting the whole time and ignoring all the customers. Yup. If you like being thirsty, being ignored, and sitting alone in the bar definitely recommend Park View Patio.

I recently moved to Petworth and as we get closer to NFL season, I need a place to watch the Redskins games. With the dearth of sports bars in Petworth, Park View Patio is the best and closest thing to me– we went for the preseason game last night. Pros: Very nice patio area out back, and BOGO happy hour as well if other nearby bars are too full. Cons: What everyone else has mentioned: food selection is limited and sub-par, the hours are wonky, and the place doesn’t have a strong identity, although there’s a lot of potential. They claim to be a Redskins bar so I’ll give them another chance. But I agree with another reviewer– Park View and Petworth are not the sort of places for flip-cup. We need a sports bar, not a college frat house.

Great place to start with awesome food. The atmosphere is more quite compared to your place that has a dj or live music

The patio out nice is realllyyy nice. especially when DCR is packed to the brim after 4:00 every day. The drinks here are about $ 1 to $ 1.50 more expensive than over at DCR, they have less tap choices, and their bartenders/servers aren’t as «cool»… but they still have BOGO until 9:00 and there’s good music and there’s PLENTY of seating. I’d rather pay the extra $ 5 the entire night and have a table than stand and hover over people at DCR. Although if DCR was empty, I’d prefer the vibe over there. I’ve been here twice on a Friday and there is literally nobody, I’m not sure how long they’ll stay in business. Also, don’t go for the food, we ordered a basket of wings and fries for a table of 6 with drunk people and couldn’t even finish the wings. it was SOOO dry, and not siracha coated like the description said. Just go here for some nice BOGO and a patio w/o a crap load of people surrounding you. but don’t expect anything else.

I live in the Columbia Heights/Petworth area and I’m a regular at a bar on Georgia Ave. I’ve walked by this place a million times but never really saw anything going on. I stopped in just to check it out. Good bartenders, great service. The reason that I’m giving this 1 star is because I found out why this place isn’t doing well. I sat at a table by myself, there were about 12 people in the entire place. I ordered a drink and some fries, both were fine. I pulled out my laptop to send a quick email and was immediately told by the owner«this isn’t a laptop bar; we aren’t the coupe». I’m sorry, I don’t own a business but I do work in sales. If I were to be managing a failing bar, the last thing I would do is tell customers what kind of bar I’m operating and what they can and can’t do(within reason). I wasn’t taking up bar space, I wasn’t causing a scene, I wasn’t disrupting patrons. I was sending an email. This is Washington, DC; people are going to send emails. There are plenty of other options in the area which are owned by people who are welcoming and would love nothing more than to make their patrons feel at home. Try out Park View Patio if you’d like to be told what you can or cannot do in a bar with 5 other people. No wonder this place will be gone in 6 months.

I really like this place. It’s walking distance from my place and I was able to play Flipcup on the patio with a few if my colleagues! It was awesome until too many ppl joined in. I got some type of Cajun wings which were pretty tasty. This place is pretty new(Opened Halloween 2013) so I think they’re still working out everything. This place will be awesome in the spring. The patio is a good size… just gotta watch out for the alley rats!

Note: We came here for the Milk Cult morning, so this review is for the Milk Cult at Park View Patio — I have yet to come for the evening bar scene. The menu may be small(3 taco choices, a few different pastries, and coffee), but this place is now my favorite brunch option in this area. For about $ 10 you can get three amazing tacos with a cup of french pressed Vigilante Coffee, served with a smile. The tacos are seriously delish — I think my favorite of the three was the corned beef hash, but seriously, all three were awesome. What’s more, this place is open as early as 8am on the weekend, giving it the advantage of being one of the few places of Park View/Pleasant Plains to get a delicious breakfast before 11am. Right now the Milk Cult is here on a temporary pop-up situation, but I hope so much they stay here! The Park View Patio offers a wonderful atmosphere — cozy and spacious, just the right lighting to make you want to sit and enjoy this food and perfect cup of joe. For now, the pop-up is open from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. during the week and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Still waiting to see how the happy hour specials end up, but so far pretty cool. Update: no happy hour and only open Thurs to Sun. Really appreciative that they brought a bar back to this place after the cool but tragically named Blue Banana left us. The interior looks great, the bartenders are nice and the patio is massive. When I went, I was seeing lots of people trickling in and saying it’s their first time. I think this place is going to have a long successful run in this neighborhood. They don’t have a kitchen yet, so bring in food businesses to set up shop. When I went they had a couple people selling tasty fried ravioli. A few weekends ago, the place was packed for a pop-up brunch event too — really creative.
