It was OK to the best, never a fan of Adams Morgan and all the bars/clubs here in general. My friend frequents here because of the live music. 5 bucks cover. For those who enjoy live music, this is a solid choice. However, for me, it was just meh, there’re other interesting places. The rooftop offers an overview of Adams Morgan though.

Serving is very slow. 40 mins for a burger??? 15 mins for a beer? I’m waiting for the band, only good live music can cover this lack of speed…

This place is one of my favorites. If you are looking for funky art and a wild/hipster crowd, this is the spot. The drinks are good, and the bar has 4 different decks! On my last visit, we went to the very top bar for happy hour. The weather was nice, so we got to enjoy all of the windows open as we sat at the bar drinking very cheap and good beer, $ 2 Sierra Nevada! We also ordered nachos, they were good, typical bar nachos with nacho cheese as a opposed to melted cheese. They had a great Pandora station on that somehow played reggae and classic rock, it was great.

I suggested to come here in hopes the reviews we’re right and brought a few coworkers along. It was an awesome Monday night. From the bouncer to the band to the décor. We caught the HH special b48:00 and stayed until 11:00. We are excited to come back to listen to the live bands again and try an entrée.

New and engaging happy hour location Good service, I’m not much of a drinker so the peppermint drink(forgot name) was good. Food was little pricy so glad I ate first but food looks good. I wish the band started sooner than 9:30, I’ll catch Johnny Artis live next time.

$ 5 for three floors of awesome can be quite the Saturday Night out! If you’ve ever been to Adams Morgan this place has most definitely caught your eye at some point. 1st floor — live band 2nd floor — DJ& tiny balcony 3rd floor — covered patio Madam’s Organ is really fun but quite crowded and in summers can get really hot. More often than not the place is reminiscent of a college party but then again most places in Adams Morgan do feel that way. However I feel it’s less so like that on the first floor. Regardless, don’t trip about the cover bc it is #worthit!

Interesting, divey, clubbing vibe, semi-lounge, bar food bites, music and all that happening jazz, you name it! I imagined the bar spot would be exuding a madam’s internal organ. It can. The narrow stairs, reminded me of the veins and the boom boom music livened up the insides, indeed. Kept the people like red blood cells movin’ to the groovin’! There are side seats and couches to take a chill pill. A nice top floor with a bar and street view, indoors, awaits. Madam’s organ is happening!

Came here at midnight on a Saturday during the storm of Jonas. Was pleasantly surprised to find a Soulfood place open this late and still serving food till 2 am. As soon as I walked in the music was loud and the dance floor was packed. There’s a small dining area past the dance floor on a higher level with self-seating not. Place was dimly lit, had to use my cellphone flashlight to read the menu. But tons of options to choose from. Ordered the salmon dinner and it was delicious. My friends had the rib special, everyone said their food was good. Plus the music bumping made the experience all the more enjoyable while my friends and I danced in our seats while eating our food. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

This place is always, always packed — a veritably labyrinth of people and floors and various music, but it’s always easy to get service, and it’s really important to set the right expectiation: you absolutely cannot, must not, expect intimate conversational space or food that deserves a five star rating; if you must order an appetizer, go ahead, but know that you’re paying more for the space and the convenience of not leaving to eat at a better restaurant. If you aren’t into the whole meat market scene and don’t care for loud music, go early. The cover is minimal and only once the music starts.

Went in for one drink and stayed 4 hours. Drinks were cheap and well made– strong but still tasted good. Was dead at 7 on a Saturday night but starting filling up not too long after. Band was great. Didn’t order food but sone nearby tables did and it smelled delicious.

As I was sitting at the bar, a roach scurried across my plate. Needless to say, I didn’t finish my calamari.

I can’t just be running around giving out 5 stars all willy nilly but Madam’s Organ definitely has the potential to get a upgrade to 5 stars. I’ve heard about it and walked by this bar too many times to count and never even thought to check it out. For those that don’t know where to look, they are the bar with the sorry we’re not open sign. Late night there’s a 5 dollar cover to get in which weeds out some of the cheapo’s but this place was packed. There is a small stage set up in the front of a open area. Towards the back is the dining area up some stairs. The band was decent, this music was fine but the sound was a little bit too loud and there was an occasional screeching. The covered a variety of blues songs as well as some pop-ish songs(think Micheal Jackson). I’d give the band a solid B grade. They had the crowd grooving(mostly swaying side to side and head bobbing on account of how packed this place was). But I didn’t come here for the music, I came here for the food. The dining area has 6 – 8 tables and didn’t seem too packed. It was less hectic than down stairs. The menu has a good variety of southern options. I ordered the salmon with avocado salad and had a taste of both the mac n cheese as well as the jalapeño poppers. The prices was incredibly fair, $ 13 for a 10oz wild caught salmon with a side of Spanish rice and the avocado salad. Normally I think a meal like that goes for at least $ 16. The salad came with a nice slightly tart vinaigrette and about half an avocado. It was very good and even better in combination with the Cajun flavored salmon. The salmon itself was seasoned well and the portion was great for the price IMO. The Spanish rice was only okay. It had a little flavor and also had peas and carrots. They let you change out the sides so I think the beans & rice might have been a better option. The jalapeño poppers were fantastic. They had a great cheese(I think ricotta) and were fried to perfection. The mac n cheese for me was just okay, I thought it could have been a little cheesier and meltier. I thought our service was also pretty good especially considering the packed house. The only issue I had was she forgot to put in my order for the Madam Organ’s chocolate cake for dessert, it probably would’ve been great as well. No biggie because otherwise this is actually a pretty nice spot to eat. I’m not a mosh pit type of guy so the packed main floor isn’t my thing, I’d definitely come back for the food!

This place has a lot of character and it is very unique! A lot of different rooms and passages scattered throughout the place. I’ve been here a few times and it’s pretty cool. There is usually a live band playing on the ground level. Place shouldn’t be charging a cover though. Pretty damn lame overall… so knock it off. Drinks are already overpriced… but good stuff going on at this place. I’d like to go back again.

Sat night this place is CRAZYYYYYY. $ 5 charge id definitely worth it, but it’s SOOO unimaginably pack. The upstairs reminds me of a frat house attic party. I couldn’t make it in deep enough to actually see or hear anything, but the stench of booze and sweat hits you like a ton of bricks the moment you arrive at the landing. Downstairs, they had a band playing, it wasn’t as obnoxious as upstairs, but there was little room to maneuver. Despite the billion of people that were at the event, I was still able to get my drink quickly. Since we went for a bachelorette party, the manager also offered free shots for our group of 9 ladies.

This is one of the most unique bars I’ve ever been to. It is multi-level and multi-room, with each room having its own theme. My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday night at around 11, and we had a really great time. Note: this bar is good if you’re in the mood for a sloppy, loud night full of sweaty dancing and divey, but interesting rooms everywhere. It almost reminds me of New Orleans…

Great place in Adams Morgan! My friends and I did not expect much for the first night out in the D. C area but this place was turnt up! Between the campy country themed decorations and the snarky sayings on the walls and ceilings this place was hilarious and very unique. The first floor consisted of a jazz band playing groovy music. The second floor had a poppin’ DJ playing mixed edm music and old fan favorites. There was a small balcony if you sadly needed fresh air but that wouldn’t have been an option with all the cigarette smokers. There is also a rooftop however it was too crowded to enjoy. As per a friend, the soul food in the afternoon is great as well!

This place seriously has everything you could want in a bar. 1. A floor with live music, seating, calm atmosphere. 2. A floor with a DJ for dancing and revelry. Balcony to go outside and smoke/people watch. 3. A floor with sports on TV, billiards and a more«divey» bar feel. $ 5 cover. LOVED it here! My favorite bar I went to while visiting DC!

Had such a fun evening last night at Madam’s Organ. A friend at work(in the UK) spent 6 months living and working in Washington for a previous job and said she spent many nights here and recommended it to me. I was really pleased when I find out it was just 10mins walk from our hotel! There was a $ 4 per person charge on the door as they had a live band in, but it was definitely worth it. We were there just before the band started and managed to get a seat at the bar. It was advertised as bluegrass, which we weren’t sure what that genre of music was but we loved it! The band were amazing, there was a great atmosphere and a few people were dancing. The drinks were good, the place very quirky but the band really made it for me. They have different music each night of the week so it’s a real shame we’re not here longer to experience another fun night at Madam’s Organ.
