Walked in with a large party and the bartender greeted us with a snip attitude as we were all trying to figure out how to sit a large party because the tables don’t move the bartender said«are we going to joke around or are you going to sit down!» The place was empty. We sat because we were all starving. The waiter was great but agin the bartender yelled at us to not block the standing way between bar and tables??? This is a bar were you are supposed to be able to talk and stand. That bartender needs a major attitude adjustment. The burgers were great. Not much to choose from on menu though.

This place was fricking delicious and the staff was amazing. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and a delicious, local beer. I’d recommend it to anyone, especially anyone traveling and staying at the nearby Mariott. A quick walk and an overal great experience. During later hours, I’d imagine it’d be hard to find group seating as the place is packed and small, but great for small groups and solo dining.

Macintyre’s is a top notch gastro pub in the Woodley area. I stopped in here by myself this week and was greatly warmly by the staff. The on-tap beer selection is varied, priced nicely and the staff is always willing to make a suggestion. The fried oysters were nicely crisp and crunchy on the outside with a steaming creamy oyster in the middle. I devoured this appetizer! The pulled pork sandwich was juicy on top of the soft brioche roll. This is a wonderful place to stop and grab a bite. I can tell why this is a local favorite!

Great restaurant, great staff, great food! I had a great experience here for a late lunch. The manager sat us, and told us a little bit about the menu and how the food is prepared, which was helpful for ordering. I had the grilled cheese and my girlfriend had the original burger, both were HUGE portions. The fries are to die for. We both couldn’t finish our meals, but I’m not complaining, it was some damn good food. It seemed like there were a lot of return customers at the bar, the manager welcomed a few of them in. Room is kinda tight, so I wouldn’t recommend for parties of more than 4 people, or children(no kids menu). What a great find!

This place was a pleasant surprise. My friends and I had gone to DC to see the Zoo Lights and were starving afterward. We wanted a place that could serve us quickly and we spotted this pub and figured it would suffice. When we looked over the menu, we were so surprised by their offerings. They had pub food, but everything had a slight twist to it. One of their deals on Sunday nights is $ 7 Duck Confit Nachos. How can you say no to that? We ordered them as our appetizer and as soon as they came out we scarfed them down. I was actually pretty impressed at how quickly we consumed it. The nachos were covered with shredded duck, pickled onions and poblano peppers, and queso. It was delicious! Next we each ordered a sandwich. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with fries, which was quite satisfying. Fries were well made, and I thought the jalapeño cheddar bread was a nice addition to the sandwich. My friend got the same exact sandwich but ordered the side salad. I was expecting the salad to be a pretty basic garden salad, but was impressed by both the amount and the quality. The salad included tomatoes, sliced radishes, and sliced cucumbers and was tossed in a dill/yogurt dressing. I know not everyone is a dill fan, but I quite enjoy my dill. I tried her salad and found it quite refreshing and a good complement to all the heavy food we had. Anyway, this was a lucky find, and I’m so glad we were able to finish our night here.

We were headed to ZooLights and decided to eat dinner first. We decided on Macintyre’s based on the fact that there was no wait for a table. Thankfully it worked out in our favor because we were pleasantly surprised by the food! It’s a small and cozy brewpub with a long bar area and some tables on the side. We each ordered a beer– though I can’t remember what I ordered, and perused the menu. They do have a decent beer list with bottled and draft options. Macintyre’s menu is interesting for a brewpub, in my opinion. They have traditional pub food but with a twist. Menu items include nachos with duck confit, kimchi burger, and deviled eggs. Not your traditional food but we were not deterred. I ordered the pork tacos, my husband ordered the BBQ pork sandwich, my friends ordered the grilled cheese, and wings. Our food came out soon after we ordered. All of our food smelled awesome. My pork tacos were delicious and I was very surprised on how much I liked them. The pork was seasoned well and moist and the radish had a nice element of freshness. I wished that they had two corn tortillas per taco instead of one. It made for a messy meal, but overall it was a good taco. Service was friendly throughout our experience. Prices are not too bad for the area. Overall a good option if you’re near the Zoo!

This was a very happy find. I don’t venture to Woodley Park often, so my dear Unilocal helped me find a great spot! MacIntyre’s was almost empty at 5:30, so we easily found a table and enjoyed the $ 2 off our beers happy hour special. The menu is way more than a typical bar menu. We ordered blue crab deviled eggs. They were a pleasant surprise, and even had a crab claw on top! The waiter recommended the top plates, one of which was a bbq sandwich. How could I resist? It had a slice of cheese and pickled peppers! The sandwiches came with as side of fries or a salad(at no extra cost I may add). I took a student leap of faith and went with a salad, always a coin flip in a bar. The salad was huge for a side salad and very fresh. I only wish MacIntyre’s was closer so I could visit more often. I will be back the next time I’m in the area.

The kimchi burger is one of the best burgers in DC, hands down. It is truly delicious. You get a large, juicy burger bursting with flavor, with a small pile of pulled pork on top and some kimchi on bottom adding a little tang. This is such a great mix, and even the burger on its own is delicious. I will caution that the kimchi is not a very dominant flavor here — if you want to be tasting that kimchi burst forth, that’s not what you are going to get. That did not diminish my enjoyment of it at all, though. I cannot recommend it higher. My date went with the grilled chicken sandwich, which is served on cheddar jalapeño bread. She was very satisfied, and my one bite seemed to confirm it matched the burger in quality. Both sandwiches came with a massive portion of fries and were flavorful and tasty, better than your average side of fries. We had plenty for dinner and leftovers for lunch. You really get great bang for your buck. Just as exciting, they have a list of 40 – 50 beers available, with plenty on draft and a solid bottle list backing them up. I had the Edmund Fitzgerald porter and a Black Butte porter. Both were great. Nice variety on the menu. In terms of décor, the inside is a loud sports bar with a series of large TVs above the bar. There were a lot of people inside enjoying some football. We opted for the patio out front, which is very pleasant, quiet, and adorned with nice string lighting. It was actually pretty good for a date when the weather was cool and pleasant. The service was a little inattentive, but they had one guy manning the entire outside, which seems like a tough task. It was packed on a Friday night. I have to say, for a sports bar in an area of town not known for great dining options, I had fairly low expectations, and they completely blew me away.

We were planning to go to Open City(which is up the street) but the wait at lunch on a Monday for 6 Was 30 mins and we didn’t have time to wait. I am so happy that we didn’t wait and instead went here. We had to split up into two tables of three which was fine by us. The décor is modern and hipster. I loved the vibe! The bartender was amazing and we got great service. The food was fantastic. The fries are delish(I could eat them all day). I had the beef ribs and while they had a tad too much sauce for me they were falling off the bone. I ate them signs fork. We all left there full and happy! Next time I am trying the burger and chili cheese fries!

Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday, plenty of seating was available. Bar runs almost the length of the restaurant, high top tables are also available. Not an overly large restaurant. Several large TV’s located behind the bar were playing sports during my visit. My server was extremity friendly and personable. Ordered a Burger and Fries, wait time was ok. The Burger was big and filling, but the fries, while generous were underdone in my opinion. Overall, I’ll return for another visit and try something different on the menu.

Sunday ticket. Good beer selection. Duck confit nachos. Very attentive staff. Came here after the zoo to catch some football and it was the perfect amount of busy. If I lived in DC this would be my spot.

Pretty decent pub type joint located in Woodley Park. Inside was full on a Tuesday night with the young crowd, meaning the atmosphere was electric, but loud. It had the largest crowd on the strip… So we decided to sit outside… Great Happy Hour specials! Staff was friendly and helpful! Deviled Egg is very awesome, the crab topping was interestingly tasty. Fried Oysters were great, but for $ 10, it is a small — tiny portion… kind of a tease. Kimchi Pork Taco’s — don’t let the Kimchi through you, they are delish. Classic Burger — great burger with a mound of fries. IMHO — a little overprices, but tasty nevertheless… Like I said, good casual experience.

This is a good option for Woodley Park which can really be a miss for restaurant options because of two major hotels. I live a block away and it’s good to have a sports bar nearby(even though I don’t really watch sports very much. Drink specials were solid for happy hour, but I have three stars for a very underwhelming kimchi burger. The kimchi wasn’t traditional kimchi, and the burger was disappointing. It’s a great addition to the block but food options need to be refined.

Walked through the doors and instantly greeted by the hostess — My husband and I chose to sit outside by the plants(which be prepared for bugs on the table, from the plants, and bug bites). They were busy since it was prime time for dinner and happy hour was about to come to and end. We both ordered the chicken sandwich and a side salad — unfortunately we both and agreed it was nothing more than mediocre. The sandwich had a bitter after taste to us both and too much salt to our liking. Also, the bread was grilled with a little too much butter. Presentation was nice, and the sandwich is huge! They aren’t stingy on fries either which I did enjoy. Our waiter was very friendly and continued to check on us. I gave it three stars mainly because of quality of service. Food just wasn’t there for us this time.

If we’re ever in DC again, this is the place to come back! Their pulled pork sandwich was AMAZING, if you like sweet, salty, full of flavor sandwiches, it’s a must try! Am not finish… their grilled cheese is another must try! Never thought of adding jalapeño in a grilled cheese and if you like that… you’ll looove their grilled cheese sandwich! Try these two menu items and see for yourself… We enjoyed our server, Didier… he was very attentive and helpful. We’ll definitely return

My boyfriend and I were in the area on Friday night and made a last minute decision to grab some food. We had decided to eat at District Kitchen across the street but were grossly disappointed by their decision to ignore us for a few minutes before finally providing us an icy greeting before they rudely to tell us they were fully booked. We decided to go elsewhere, and I am so glad we did. We ended up at Macintyre’s. Within 5 seconds of walking through the door we were greeted by two different staff members that quickly cleared off a table for us to sit at. Throughout our dinner we were checked on by at least 3 different people. Each time they were polite, friendly, and quick to respond to our requests. The food was amazing. The vibe was perfect. I would absolutely go back to Macintyre’s – the chicken sandwich was delish! – and would recommended it to anyone looking for dinner in the Woodley Park area.

AM bartender is the best. He was very attentive and had a great sense of humor. I went at about 10:55am when they opened at 11:00am. I joined a friend outside for a later breakfast. I love when you get eggs even if it’s almost lunchtime. I think they serve breakfast all day. I did not like the edamame with chili & garlic. I thought it would be flakes but it was a sweet chili sauce and so not what I was expecting at all. If you like that though, it would be good I imagine. 11am on weekday was not busy at all so we really enjoyed ourselves. The music was appropriate and not too loud outside. I would definitely go back.

Good service, solid beer list, and nice space but everything on the menu is $ 1 – 4 overpriced. That might not seem like a lot but it adds up fast and is the type of thing that would keep me from returning regularly. For example, the deviled eggs are actually deviled egg, singular, for $ 6. Sure, there’s crab in the dish but starters are usually shared and a single oeuf won’t get you far. The wings were decent but not so decent to justify the $ 12 tag for 6 of them. Grabbing a beer after work and decide you want a burger? It’ll set you back $ 14-$ 16, depending on toppings. Those price points don’t match the description of a casual neighborhood bar. Now, let’s be honest: a lot of the clientele in this area is tourists who do not recognize that the Italian joint next store has the lowest Unilocal rating in all of DC but will see that its menu is a significantly better value than Macintyre’s. Woodley Park desperately needs some decent dining for neighbors and out-of-towners alike. I hope this place makes some changes and is able to fill that void.

Updating my review — MacIntyre’s has definitely become the go to restaurant in Woodley Park. As they’ve been open for a few months now, they’ve updated their menu, and I highly recommend the following: Chocolate chip bread pudding Special BBQ pork sandwich — slow roasted for 24 hours and literally SODELICIOUS!!! Duck confit nachos Jalapeño grilled cheese Tried brunch for the first time, omelet and a carafe of mimosas. Excellent! The staff that they’re adding to accommodate their popularity are just as awesome as the rest!
