Delicious food with great service. I had the butter chicken and it was fantastic and came with a huge portion of rice. Also tried the cheese naan with homemade cheese, which was delicious. For an appetizer, we tried the sampler and it came with a little bit of everything. Overall, terrific food and outstanding service. I will be back!

The best Indian food I have had. The samosas and chicken tendoori just RIGHT! The Chicken Tikka Masala was the perfect. I will be back when I’m in the DC area again.

I’ve been to this place a few times and have always been satisfied. The place has an authentic feel. The service is friendly and fast, with large portions to boot. That said, the food quality is standard, nothing extraordinary but will definitely satisfy an Indian food craving if you’re in a pinch.

Stopped here for a bite to eat, the place was dead which is usually a red flag. I order the special; soup, lamb sagg, Tika masala, rice pudding, chicken korma, and nann for $ 17. The service was decent, décor needed updating but was clean. My chicken and lamb were tough(they did not taste fresh by any means). Overall the meal was reasonably priced, service was mediocre, was not the best but also not the worst.

Service: Not great although luckily we did not have the female waitress who looked like she was ready to strangle someone. It must be the same girl that another reviewer mentioned hated life. Food: Bland would not call it Indian due to the lack of any discernible flavor. Ambiance: Not bad if you don’t mind fruit flies at your table or mosquitos in the bathroom(which I successfully swatted). Overall: It is a shame that we went here especially since we have a smart phone and could easily determine this is not a great culinary destination.

It’s a quant unremarkable place. We came on a Sunday and it is… a very quiet place. We came in and all you can hear are the people two tables over and football on the tv 60 feet away. They have really nice marble tables and its a nice place to enjoy classic Indian cuisine. Nothing special, and the staff is very quiet. But for a nice laid back Sunday dinner it’s not a bad place to stop by.

We were visiting from Williamsburg VA with our baby on Columbus Day. We were not very hungry so ordered one Chicken Vindaloo to share. The server who was at the counter was very rude on hearing we were sharing. He gave us one glass of water and just left. When we asked if rice was unlimited he said yes but we were then charged $ 2.50 for it. It was nowhere in the menu. If you do not want horrible service, then you should skip this place. We regretted not going to Mcdonalds opposite this place. Food was ok but it was not vindaloo even though they call it so. If i can give 0 stars i would.

The tikka masala tasted like tomato sauce, except even more plain. This, for an Indian restaurant, is suicide. The rice was possibly not even basmati, and certainly had none of the usual spices(cardamom, clove) — again, suicidal. The Seek Kabob, on the other hand, was one of the best I’d ever had. I doubt I’d go back unless I was craving just that.

Well, we wanted Indian food and we were in Woodley Park and it was 5:30pm Saturday so we decided to try this place. For $ 43(including tax and tip) we got vegetable buriyani(not very spicy, were those canned vegetables?), vegetable thali(a selection of paneers and curries with 2 sauces and rice and burnt naan bread), a beer(Stella!) and a mai tai(fairly well made!). While the food was filling and adequate, maybe I’m getting old and my taste buds are losing it but this food did NOT have the spicy aromatic interesting flavors we associate with Indian food we’ve had in other restaurants. While the service was adequate there just did not appear to be a lot of interest in the customers and their experience(e.g., dirty glasses on counter at entrance, wrinkled and ripped carpets, tables not aligned, dusty fake flowers and fake trees, décor peeling off walls, lackadaisical service, 2 staffers laughing and giggling and eating at back table). I just get the feeling this restaurant needs a big makeover — starting with the walls and carpets, get some snappier staff and use a little more spice in the kitchen, perhaps. I doubt we’ll go back for more even with the cheap beers and«specials».

I was visiting DC from NYC and wanted some Indian food… Taste of India left me sooooooo disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala & Nann. The chicken was super salty and lacked the hint of sweetness that I’m used to in chix tikka masala. They served it with white rice and I thought it was standard to serve it with Basmati rice. The«Nann» didn’t smell or taste like Nann… It had no flavor whatsoever, very bland. Usually I can eat the Nann alone but not from this restaurant. Overall disappointing and a waste of money.

Ask for lunch special– 3 ½ Stars We were in the neighborhood and looking for a place to get lunch. We decided on Taste of India based on their lunch specials. For 10 bucks you get a choice of 4 entrees, rice, and soup. We seated ourselves in the outside patio. Our server greeted us and gave us our menus. My coworker and I stuck to the lunch options(affordable was the goal of the day). I chose the Chicken Tikka lunch special and we split Naan. One order of Naan gets you 4 pieces so we opted for 2 orders. Our food came fairly quickly as far as lunch goes. My Chicken Tikka was yummy. I liked their sauce; not too spicy and good balance of flavors. Their soup was interesting rice soup with cilantro– not bad. Naan– good and perfect for dipping up the leftover sauce. Good place to go for lunch in Woodley Park if you’re in the mood for Indian.

Food was great. Service ruined the experience. Was never asked if I wanted any drink besides water. I thanked the waiter three times… when he brought food and refilled my water. He never responded. He never asked how the food was. I have made more flavorful indian myself at home and im no chef.

Actually very good food. Loved the ginger cilantro naan, but terrible service! The waitress was very cold and indifferent. She was extremely slow at refills and we were literally one of two customers here now(5 pm kinda early for dinner and the World Cup was going on) Bad service. Good food but nothing crazy special. Hope you get a different waiter.

Craving Indian food after teaching both a bootcamp and a spin class I jumped on Seamless and chose from the few options, basing my choice mostly on the estimated delivery time which was stated as 30 – 45 minutes. An hour and a half and four phone calls later the rude delivery guy finally arrived. He first called to try to make me come downstairs(huge pet peeve of mine, it’s delivery and we have a call box, I’m not meeting you halfway). My fiancé was afraid I was going lay into the guy so he started to put his shoes on to make the trek down when our intrepid delivery shirker finally buzzed up. He was curt and ignored me when I said he was an hour late. The food was warm-ish and mediocre on top of it all, and we didn’t get to eat it till 10:30pm. Never. Again.

HORRIBLE… The food and the service were horrible. I will never go back. Our food was cold and they have the worst basmati rice, it was a clumpy mess. I think my garlic naan came out of the fridge because chunks of garlic were cold and the naan was cool to the touch. Didn’t want to send my food back. The waitress was as rude and nasty, no telling what she would’ve done to my food. I’ve eaten in several Indian restaurants in the area and this by far is the worst. We would’ve better off eating frozen Indian meals, at least they would’ve been hot. Unilocal could you add negative stars to the rating?

Nothing good about this place other than the location(if you are conferencing at the Marriott). If you have a fave Indian place, well, this is nothing like that. The lunch buffet had no more than 5 options. Everything I tasted was bland. The naan was not good. They were somewhat busy, but all they really do is clear plates and pour water but our glasses were dry for far too long. You are essentially just eating, there is nothing about this place to enjoy. I cant imagine anything else nearby was any better or worse than Taste. If you have time, grab a cab and go across the bridge. If not, go in with low expectations :)

Lousy food, flavored by onions and not much else. Service was pretty inept; the hostess when I was there was Indian but claimed not to have any idea about the food because she was new, and the wait staff didn’t help much. I’ll generously give them two stars because they have a nice menu and maybe they have something good on it that I didn’t try. I’m not in any hurry to find out. Head across the bridge to Adams Morgan for some much better Indian food.

I was in town for a conference and went here because I trust that Indian food will always be healthy and good for me, the vegetarian. While the prices seemed decent, the food was a little bland. Now, I like spicy to the max, so when I say bland it’s influenced by my understanding of ‘spicy.’ It did have flavor and was filling, but just kind of bleh in terms of the overall effect. The reason for 2 stars instead of 3 is that the waitstaff that evening seemed to hate life. Now, I’m not going to force anyone to smile, but when you take it out on your customers its an issue. The waitress never did anything mean, but she did basically throw our plates down and disappear for long stretched of time(when there were maybe 4 other people in the place). Adding to that, the ambience of the place is rather divey and thrown together. It could use a new paint-job and a cleaning, along with some better decorations or less of them. So, it was satisfying, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone else to go to it — there’s plenty in the block area to gorge on.

Totally forgettable. I came at the very end of the lunch hour and it still took forever. I had to give my lunch order to two different people. I got chicken tikka masala and it was pretty boring. The garlic naan was not very good either. Try something else if you’re in the neighborhood.

I stopped here because a friend was in town and wanted to try Indian food. This would be her first time so I helped her with her order. We started out with the mango lassi and it was so watery and tart, that I had it sent back. I told her that is not what is should taste like. She had the look of ease, because things weren’t starting off too right. But that was just the beginning, nothing we ordered had taste or flavor. I am not one to add salt to my food, but at the least, the chef could have tilted the Morton’s salt in the pot. We ordered Naan, two chicken dishes, and the dessert balls.(can’t remember any of the names). Everything was just bland. Nothing to write home about. I am confident they are only in business because they are in a great location. It’s hard for me to believe that ANYONE would find this food appealing.
