Fahrenheit is part of the Ritz-Carlton in Georgetown, DC. Very good food, especially the sea bass. As noted by othe reviewers, the restaurant is for some unknown reason, mostly empty. Very expensive, too. The décor is very dark !

Went here for Valentine’s Day dinner with my girlfriend. The building use to be an old factory. Ritz-Carlton really made the industrial feel of the place into a sort of modernized luxury with a nice fireplace, intriguing pieces of art, and fine furniture. This is a really good looking restaurant. The best part was that the dining room was only about 40% full at dinner time. I think this may have been intentional, though, to make room for potential guests of the hotel. We went to degrees lounge before dinner to share some drinks and sit in their velvet lounge chairs… very nice. Dinner was fantastic, although a little pricey in my opinion. It was a 4 — course price fix. We had appetizers of sashimi and foie gras. Both were ok, but nothing exceptional. I’m not a big foie gras fan. I love sushi, but their offering was about what you could get in the supermarket. It was seared tuna sashimi. The second course we had lobster soup with a fried oyster. This was a great winter treat. It was a very thick creamy soup. I expected something like a bisque, but this was much different. I really enjoyed it. The 3rd course entrée’s were a seared sea-bass and a beef tenderloin. Both were cooked perfectly. The chef really delivered a great entrée. The veggies were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I even felt full afterward. The 4th course was desert. It was a dark chocolate parfait and a coconut mousse cake. Both were great and I’m not at all a desert guy. I would come back, but for their a la carte menu. Everything here was very very good, and the atmosphere was romantic. Being that the price fix was the only option made it feel very limited. I could easily see myself giving this place 5 stars on an evening where their entire menu is available. + Romantic Atmosphere — Bad Appetizers + Great Fish and Steak

Location-Ritz Gtown, so it’s already a little off the beaten path, which keeps it from getting crowded and pretentious. It’s always only half full and quiet, which I love. Décor-love! warm, modern, makes you forget you’re in DC Food-nothing short of amazing. I always savor my food here. Great menu with creative selections. Can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s gorgeous, private, and most importantly, serves amazing food. There’s also a bar/lounge conveniently located right downstairs. And yes, it’s a tad pricey – but you knew that when you entered via the main entrance of the Ritz. It’s not an every day dinner spot, but the price is worth it for the right occasion.

The tagline is «ignite your desire». Fahrenheit is one of my DC fav’s. It is tucked inside the Georgetown Ritz-Carlton hotel, a converted factory. Parking is surprisingly convenient for Georgetown(there is a reasonably priced lot directly across the street or you can valet your car). I’ve never had to wait for a table here and I’ve never been disappointed with the food. The décor is immaculate(high vaulted ceilings, the walls and windows tastefully dressed). The only downside is the prices are a bit higher than they need to be and the wine list could stand to be updated to include some better selections. Otherwise go and enjoy … and don’t be surprised if you do a little celebrity spotting.

This is my favorite restaurant in Washington DC. The food and service are incredible. I actually like it that the restaurant is often empty. The prices are a bit high for DC, but well worth it for special occassions. Great place!

Beautiful restaurant with lovely décor, ambiance and very efficient and attentive waitstaff. The menu is also great with everything sounding tempting. The prices are quite extraordinary. My steak was $ 38, so when you consider a possible appetizer or drink or dessert, it will end up being quite expensive. If you don’t mind dropping $ 70/person for dinner, then you’ll love this place. The food is delicious — my steak was fantastic and the bread basket was super delicious with a huge variety of bread(raisin bread, cheese bread, yum!) Supposedly they have a private room in the old smokestack. I might come back to celebrate an occasion or perhaps for a party. But for a regular run of the mill dinner, it’s definitely a bit over the top.

The staff — AMAZING, bar none. The food — very good, what I would expect from this place The prices — outrageous(the reason for the –1 star). The décor — AMAZING! If you have the money to spend, or really want a great experience — go here. And I know this sounds odd, but if you can, go during a huge thunderstorm, it just makes the entire place seem much better.

I went on a date here. A first date actually. Let me just preface by saying that this place is definitely not first-date fare — maybe an anniversary is more suitable. Because it’s at the Ritz in Georgetown it is a little bit off the beaten path and at 9PM on what I believe was a Wednesday, the place was pretty much empty. It was even devoid of guests staying at the hotel for crying out loud. In fact, it was at times a little uncomfortable being in a conversational lull and not having any background noise for distraction. That struck me as a little strange. However, the décor is very snazzy and the food is actually surprisingly moderately priced — you can definitely order for 2 for around $ 130++ if you pair with an inexpensive wine and don’t spring on dessert(go for ice cream in Georgetown instead!). I ordered a nice-sized chicken casserole with sausage and lima beans in a thick gravy and it was satisfying. It is worth noting that the menu does not seem to rotate. The wait staff is impeccable and offers some of the best customer service of any restaurant I’ve been to. But I mean, it’s the freakin’ Ritz, so what do you expect?

Fahrenheit restaurant is fine. The question is whether or not you want to drop $ 100 a person on so-so food. We had dinner with another couple. The calamari was mediocre at best because my husband found it to be soggy and without flavor and no dipping sauce. I ordered the arugula salad which was very tender with a light viniagrette and pecans. It was lovely. I didn’t try the tuna tartare but our dinner companion said that it was great. We ordered the Chehalem Pinot Noir for $ 72 a bottle and it went great with all of our food. My husband got the NY strip served with carmelized onions and topped with gorgonzola cheese with a short stack of onion rings(lackluster) and a handfull of haricot verts. The steak was decent, cooked reasonable well and flavorful. The carmelized onions were a bit too sweet —maybe too much balsamic vineager? I got the chilean sea bass with chorizo and white beans. The fish was a little bit too«oceany» and I was only able to eat half. The chorizo was smoky and jerky. The beans were cooked perfectly. The best dish of the evening was the special lobster with saffron and shrimp and calamari. It was fragrant and saffron-y. Lovely dish. The charred bread topped with american cavier was not so great. Very fishy not too complimentary of our food. Finally, the tenderloin was a nice cut and probably the best thing on the menu. It was juicy, flavorful and perfectly cooked(well the second time it came out correctly). Desserts — trio of sorbet — raspberry, mango and coconut — each piece was topped with a piece of chocolate/nut pieces. That was strange. The raspberry and mango were fine the coconut tasted not very authentic. The apple tart — perfect. could have used a real scoop of ice cream. All in all the meal was fine but I’d rather eat at Blue Duck for that price. Service: very unobtrusive and well orchestrated Décor: sparse and dark, very dark Bathrooms: they are one level below and clean, cloth towels… Very Ritz Carlton Cost: $$$$

I had a great experience eating at Fahrenheit Restaurant. It is in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Georgetown, but about two blocks off the beaten path of M Street and Wisconsin Avenue so not many people seem to even know its there. The building used to be a city incinerator some eighty or so years ago, so the hotel has adopted a «heat» theme throughout its décor and in the restaurant menus. They even have a bowl of Fireballs for their after dinner mints at the hostess stand! And by incorporating some of the old structure into the décor they’ve turned the building into a very contemporary urban space with lots of red brick and black iron stairs, railings and walkways throughout. The building even has its old chimney stack which the restaurant has turned the base inside into a a private party room with a large table for eight. The hotel also has a very cool lobby lounge area complete with a large wood-burning stove-type fireplace and a separate martini lounge named Degrees. As previously mentioned by others, the wine list in the restaurant is very extensive and diverse and I found the food to be quite good as well. The dishes were prepared a bit different then what I typically find. I had the Lamb which came with an delicious olive/wine sauce on the side. Side dishes are large enough for two and ala carte, as you find in most of the finer restaurants these days. The sour dough bread was yummy and the fried calamari was prepared without the typical breading that you almost always get, so that was quite refreshing to see and delicious as well. The prices are high but probably what you would probably expect to pay at a Ritz Carlton… about $ 200.00 for dinner for two with a few glasses of wine and no dessert. One of the best features I found was that the hotel also has valet parking. So if you are planning on hitting a few clubs down the street after dinner, your car can be parked there with the restaurant’s validation for only $ 10.00 up until 2:00AM.

Great wine selection, so-so food. My rockfish was a little overcooked and my friend’s crab cakes were mediocre. Our appetizers, though, were excellent: Truffle macaroni and cheese and some kind of mushroom medley(forgot name). The night we ate there, there was a table celebrating a graduation and lots of couples so I guess it’s a decent place to take a date. The décor is beautiful with high ceilings and windows. I tend to feel a little uncomfortable in overly trendy places, but the staff was very courteous.
