Beautiful backdrop does not help if the food lacks taste. The crispy fried shrimp and blackened Mahi Mahi were both missing salt and could not trace much spice in anything… The mushroom risotto was the worst I have ever had. it was dry, mushrooms were oddly placed on top. the dishes all lacked something… The service was really nice. quick, welcoming and open seating in plenty… nearby was a gelato place that made up for the bland taste here.

Wonderful outdoor seating on the river. Great service. Waitress talked me out of seabass and into salmon. It was meh. My companion had crab cakes and raved about them. A very nice meal overall.

Upon seeing the menu for this brunch I was immediately intrigued. I’ve brunched at hundreds of places before but never a place where the main focus was seafood. It also helped it was a boozy brunch which almost a requirement for me :-D I had so many good things. I went for a seafood omelette at first which was very tasty with crabmeat and shrimp. It was made to order. I went to the other side of the buffet and there were options for bacon, sausage, corn beef hash and potatoes. I really enjoyed the crab dip with fresh bread to dip in it. The oysters on a half shell were very tasty. There was some smoked salmon and tomatoes with fresh mozzarella that I enjoyed too. My Mimosa was pretty basic nothing to rave about. My friend had a Bloody Mary which she enjoyed. There was also fresh waffles and an array of dessert options. The chocolate covered strawberries and bakes Brie were divine. The only complaint I had is they started cleaning the dining area while we were still eating. Apparently brunch is over at 3 so they bring out the checks to everyone at that time. I’ve never been somewhere that makes you feel like you should leave so that was a little weird. I heard an employee say that dinner begins at 4 so I guess that’s why they needed to clean in a hurry. It would totally make more sense to end brunch at 2 so if people do stagger around you don’t interrupt them, especially at $ 50 per person. This is definitely a brunch place I would return to. Oh and did I mention the view of the water and yachts is amazing.

Bartender was 5 stars all day! Gave him a vague description of what I was craving & he concocted a delicious vodka drink to satisfy the craving! He was very prompt and attentive throughout our lunch visit. Food — 2 stars. Fish tacos didn’t have much flavor. Fish sandwich was average. Fries perfectly crispy!

Went to this restaurant while waiting to go on a boat tour in Washington DC… I was highly disappointed that they didn’t have lobster rolls on the menu so I went with the soft shell crab instead. The meal was decent at best, nothing to rave about. The outside seating is right by the water which made up for the food. Decent spot

I went here over the weekend with my boyfriend and two of my best friends who were visiting from out of town. We all sat at the bar and started off with some drinks, which were fine. My Boyfriend decided he wanted to order an appetizer, so he ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail($ 16) and he told my friends and I we were welcome to have some when it came out. Well once it came out we very disappointed that there were only FOUR shrimp and they weren’t even«Jumbo». I have never ordered a shrimp cocktail that only had 4 shrimp. They should definitely make a note of that on the menu so people aren’t surprised. MAJORRIPOFF.

Sat outside for about 10 mins not a single person acknowledge us and there was about 10 staff members all standing around socializing. We came out for Memorial Day and the menu looked good even though overpriced. However not going to wait around to be served to pay top dollar. Good luck. Never ate there and now never will. We ended up going next door.

Okay so we love a good brunch, and have had a much around town. This is worth every penny of the $ 45/person. The mimosa glass was Always full. The food was so good we wanted to sneak out w leftovers. — we have gone to the Four seasons for their would famous brunch(and while it was very good.) Tony & Joes out does the four seasons! — the service of the staff was on point, such nice staff and very good team work. We are probably will be going back next weekend! It’s that good. ~~so states the Angry Pepper!~

I kept hearing mixed reviews about this place but decided to try it out for brunch, and it was a gooood move. First, let me say that the weather outside was horrible(rain/wind) so we sat inside for the brunch buffet, which I think is the only option for brunch. If it were a nicer day, I may have been a bit aggrieved that I couldn’t be outside but we were seated right next to the raw bar. If you aren’t a fan of oysters, this place probably isn’t worth the $ 45 bottomless brunch(and mimosas) since it carries a lot of typical brunch fare like omelettes and waffles but if you know how to enjoy some oysters and crab dip, it is totally worth it.

One of my top & long time favorite eateries, & with a chance to finally return after a long hiatus… great day of weather as well. As soon as we approached the Hostess stand, we were seated. The patio was the MO so we could enjoy the waterfront dining experience, engage in people/boat watching & consume fresh and delectable seafood. Breann was our Server & from beginning to end she was fantastic. We decided for a light lunch oppose to the original Brunch plans, & still had the pleasure of hearing the live jazz music playing from inside. The Ivy City Smokehouse was the appetizer of choice that came with salmon, trout, maple glazed salmon which were all smoked, hence the name, & garnished with fresh greens, onions & capers. Mussels & a horseradish cream accompanies the dish, yet opted without. OJ& Grapefruit Mimosas was a must & we indulged. We both decided on salads, mine was the Blackened Salmon, a nice size portion settled on bed of mixed greens, red onion, avocado, tomato, cucumber, & a delicious champagne vinaigrette. Salad number two; Maple Glazed Smoked Salmon with golden pineapple, cucumber, red onion & with the same tasty champagne vinaigrette. It definitely was a Salmon consumption of a day, & add the outstanding service by Breann, the amazing views of the Kennedy Center & Washington Monument to name a few, truly made the lunch outing even better.

It’s on the waterfront in Georgetown, with a view of Roosevelt Island, Watergate Hotel, Kennedy Center, etc. it’s pricey, but then again… think about it… Georgetown Water front… Washington DC. We made reservations for a group of nine… what we didn’t know was they don’t take reservations for outdoor seating… maybe they should have mentioned that when we made the reservation instead of giving us attitude. Everyone was quite satisfied with their lunch… I had the soft shell crab sandwich, cooked to perfection. Tony and Joes is definitely someplace to experience just once if not twice…

We ended up here because I wanted to enjoy seafood while enjoying the view of the water. I’m kicking myself because I should have read the reviews. I asked for the available table with the view of the water and was given a BS reply of it being held because of reservations. That table stayed unoccupied the entire time we were there and several more became available and stayed unoccupied. The food looked very tasty but the vegetables were cold to Luke warm, salmon a little over cooked, bacon under cooked on the bacon wrapped shrimp and parmesan cheese fries, looked like someone just dumped a pile of cheese on top in a hurry. Over priced for for what we received. The next time I’m desiring to enjoy dinner by the water, I’ll check the Unilocal reviews… so sorry However, the attendant in the ladies room was very sweet!

The food was good, but the health code violations still make me gag. First, I ordered 3 drinks from the bar… all straight whiskey. Each one had chunks of something in the bottom. In other words, they clearly don’t cover their alcohol at night. If that wasn’t bad enough, a mouse decided to join us for the evening. Apparently Ratatouille was cooking that evening.

When you let someone else choose the restaurant, you end up at a place like Tony and Joe’s. I’m literally sitting at my table right now, sipping the worst Cabernet I’ve ever drank and writing this review. Where to begin… We ordered the seafood tower and 2 sides– asparagus and Parmesan fries. The seafood tower is not a tower. It’s a plate. An $ 80 plate with freezer food seafood. The seafood you would get at Long John Silvers. In fact, Long John Silvers sounds pretty good right now. The Parmesan Fries are fries with that Kraft Parmesan just dumped on it. The«fresh asparagus» was not fresh. That also came out of a freezer. The service is cringeworthy. Our sides were brought out first. Then our drinks. Then the seafood tower. I mean. Seafood plate. I also have no idea where our waitress is right now. We have been trying to pay the check for the past 15 minutes. If someone who works at Tony and Joes is reading this right now, please send any waiter to the table by the window. We are trying to get out of here and go to Baked and Wired to wash down the terrible food with cupcakes. Best comment of the night–«hey this wine tastes exactly like the one we picked up at that 7 – 11 gas station!!!» Ha!

Went here for the groupon deal that for $ 65 gave my boyfriend and I two salads, two $ 30 entrees, two desserts, and two glasses of house wines Salad: we both ordered the Caesar. HUGE salad size and reasonably dressed. Very tasty, larger than I expected. Crispy and fresh romaine an croutons. Entrée: I ordered the $ 29 cedar salmon with potatoes and asparagus. Very delicious and savory, done just the right amount to be flaky and not dried/tough. A huuuuge pile of asparagus to my delight with perfectly done potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the NY Strip. I don’t like red meat, but this steak was mouth watering. Delicious seasoning and flavored butter. Dessert: I got the raspberry and white chocolate cake, which I could barely finish. Delicious and light way to end the meal. Boyfriend got the vanilla bean Icecream, which he said was great.(Somehow he finished two large scoops, idk where it went). Wine: we got the house Pinot Grigio, which was okay. Goes for $ 12 a glass, and was good for the deal. Atmosphere: went for dinner with the harbor lit up with Christmas lights and a great view of the Potomac. Dim lights but had a great ambiance. Overall: $ 140 for $ 65 because of groupon. Very good quality food for an amazing price. Will definitely be going back for their oyster deals!

Stopped by here for a beverage when on a long walk when I was in town visiting my son. It was a crisp autumn Saturday afternoon. We had a chance to chat with the female bartender, who mixed good drinks and was very friendly(I wish I remembered her name). Tony & Joe’s in a nice place to hang out on a weekend afternoon. I’ll return.

2.75 stars. So, this place is just okay. A bit expensive(I paid $ 50 for 2 cocktails, 1 shot and a seafood dip appetizer!), but I guess that’s typical for Georgetown. *Shrugs* The rum punch was potent and the seafood dip was tasty. The dip was hot and well-seasoned. I’d order it again. The ambiance here was nice too. It was casual and upscale all rolled into one. I went to meet up with some friends and eventually migrated to the bar from sitting outside. The bartender was attentive, which I appreciated. If I had to, I would visit the restaurant again, but I can’t say that there is any compelling reason to do so.

We checked out Georgetown while visiting D.C. and this was an impromptu stop for dinner along the waterfront. We sat outside, which at first was a good idea and later became rather chilly. Not the restaurant’s fault, obviously. We started with the calamari, which was decent. For $ 14 I expected it to be served on something nicer than a fast food plastic basket lined with paper. The chipotle aioli was average but not great. I ordered the clam chowder to eat before my meal. It was good, but needed seasoning. I also wanted extra crackers but our server was nowhere to be found and my soup would have been cold had I waited on her. For my meal, I was thinking about trying the swordfish($ 35), but when I asked about the curry butter, I was told they could not make the meal without it. I was suspicious of the answer but decided to try the mushroom risotto($ 21) instead since I do not like curry. My bf ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp($ 27). Our dishes arrived and a plate of what appeared to be tomato risotto was placed in front of me. I could not see the rice at all. There were very few mushrooms, certainly not enough to be called mushroom risotto. It lacked flavor and seasoning and was not very creamy. My boyfriend found his four small shrimp for $ 27 to be unacceptable and sent the meal back. The server took it back with no issue, but did not offer to bring another meal and no manager ever came by. It sort of seemed like she was on her own. I thought about dessert but nothing on the menu sounded very good. I would not eat here again, based on the food and the price.

We only got drinks out here so I can’t speak about the food. The beer was okay but they had no specials and a limited amount of draft beers. The view was great and the outside bar was nice to sit at, only drawback here are the smokers.

This place is located right near the water at the Washington Harbour. Lots of space on the«patio» the service and quick and friendly. The ambiance of the place and availability are the reasons why we came here. We ordered a shrimp gumbo, caesar salad, and the Chesapeake Hot pot all to share. The Hot Pot was an actual hot pot which came with muscles shrimp and clams in a tomato based stew… also with potatoes and corn. Good, but not great. Nothing to rave about, really. My favorite was the shrimp gumbo, but it was small. Cocktails are about $ 12, and beers on tap are $ 7. The food isn’t something to rave about, but like I said we were here just because it was closest to the water and they had a lot of room.

5 star waterfront view but tourist pricing. Over $ 7 for the cheapest beer. We didn’t order any food. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the view. Bartenders did a fine job of keeping our beverages coming. Surrounded by lots of eateries and the Potomac. Great place for people watching. There are lots of party boats and sightseeing boats nearby.

Too bad such a beautiful view of the Georgetown waterfront could not be complemented with equally spectacular food and service. I waited by the patio check-in desk for about 10 minutes before giving up to walk into the restaurant to find someone to seat my party. Not a very welcoming start. Following my hunt for a waiter and placing my order, I was disappointed to find my salmon was dry. Probably overcooked. Rule of thumb with salmon, usually better to undercook than overcook for taste. Considering the price of the dish, I was very surprised it was overcooked. I think in the end I was paying for the view. Overall, service was lacking. Since there were not many patrons in the restaurant at the time, they seemed to gravitate toward texting rather than serving. Maybe next time I’ll skip the food and just come to Tony & Joe’s for drinks and appetizers. Bottom line: Beautiful view of the Georgetown waterfront, overpriced and dry food, poor service.

This is definitely the spot to be on a Friday night happy hour. It’s right on the Georgetown waterfront and has an amazing view of the water. The table service is absolutely horrible though. The host was extremely rude and unwelcoming so that already gave the place a super bad vibe. Once we got seated the waiter served us extremely slow. It took at least 10 minutes just to get a cup of water and then another 15 minutes for the waiter to come back so we could order drinks. Once the waiter came back, I was able to order my pomegranate liquor drink which was actually extremely delicious, but it was room temperature so it wasn’t quite good. After a while sitting, my friends and I decided to go to the happy hour bar just to get a different scenery. We decided to go to the bar inside the restaurant where the service was so much better. It was also less crowded and the bar tender was very chill. We ordered the shrimp and crab dip as well as the mussels. The dip was amazing and I would highly recommend ordering it especially if you’re with a group of friends. The mussels on the other hand were not quite that good. They were very plain, and dry. The drinks were on point as well. During happy hour the beers are only $ 4 so I ordered two blue moons and then I decided I wanted something a little fruity so I asked the bartender to make me something good with tequila in it and he did exactly what I asked. He made me a tequila sunrise which I had completely forget was such a delicious drink. So although the outside bar is the ambiance most people go to experience, I would have to say my experience inside the bar was a lot more welcoming and fun. It was also a lot less crowded and not as hot and humid as outside.

Good place to go to for HH. Nice location in Georgetown. Great bar. Not sure how everything else is because I only got their ½ priced oysters and calamari for happy hour. The oysters were big and meaty. Calamari was really good. It was a special. Not fried but in a tomato sauce and a little spicy but I really liked it.

Tony and Joe’s is a great after work, brunch, Sunday Funday, or I-need-to-eat-after-all-this-Georgetown-shopping location to eat good food. Every time I have come here I’ve gotten excellent service and the food has always been delicious. I have tried the filet mignon sliders, the truffle fries, the salmon, and a few other appetizers not to mention the wine(Riesling is my wine of choice). I’ve been on many different days different times and I’ve never been disappointed with my service. Aside from Nick’s Riverside Grill which is on the opposite side of Tony and Joe’s I can’t think of a better place along the Georgetown waterfront to sit and eat and enjoy the view of the Kennedy Center, the Potomac, or for people watching. I’ve been coming here all summer and have never needed a reservation. There are plenty of seats, just make sure to check in with the host/hostess outside at one of the stands. I’m sure you can eat indoors but why would you want to?

I’d round up to 3.5. The location is great. Right on the waterfront in Georgetown. The atmosphere is great on an a weekend afternoon. When the weather is nice their is no better place to be than on the patio. Issues. They don’t have as much patio seating as I remember. And reserve most of it for those ordering food. So get there early or snag a seat at the bar. The food here is good but there is much better seafood around. Drinks are good as well but a little overpriced at 12 dollars in plastic cups. Still this place can be a lot of fun and is a goldmine because of their location.

Tony and Joes is probably my least favorite waterfront restaurant in Georgetown. While it is a nice looking place, they just don’t execute as well as the surrounding restaurants. On a positive note, the outdoor bar is a blast in the summertime. So in my most recent dining experience there, the bread comes out first and is bland, cold, and tastes like it’s been sitting out for a few hours. The rolls and cornbread were both unremarkable and unenjoyable. The mixed green salad came next and was actually really fresh and flavorful and the goat cheese was really good. For my entrée I had the crab cakes which were pretty good, and I also tried the sea bass which was ok but too buttery. The chocolate cake dessert was awesome. It’s a nice looking place, but the mediocre food really detracts from it. The service was only average. The server seemed like he was following a script and was stiff. If you’re in the area go to Farmers Fishers Bakers or one of the other restaurants instead.

2.5 stars. Used a Livingsocial dinner coupon(2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine, and 2 desserts for $ 65). Tony & Joe’s is situated right on the Georgetown waterfront, so it has really pretty views of the Kennedy Center and the Potomac River. I was disappointed with our food and service though. We started off dinner by informing our server about our Livingsocial coupon(which is for some reason always a little weird) – I usually expect that good waiters will treat you the same as they would without the coupon, since they must realize that you could be a repeat customer. However, this waiter seemed to go through the motions with us and didn’t seem to care much about informing us about the menu. For instance when he got to the dessert part, he just said quickly«do you want the chocolate cake or the sorbet?»(we were apparently allowed to choose only between those two due to the coupon deal)… I would have expected a little more explanation of what each dessert was and a little more enthusiasm. After all, we’d never dined there before. Anyways. on to the food: + House salads were really good! Crisp apples, greens, goat cheese, and light vinagarette. Yum + Sea bass: MAJORBUMMER. My sea bass was great for the first two bites. Then i sadly got more towards the center of it and it was tough — felt rubbery liek it was undercooked perhaps? And weirdly hard to cut! The outer layers flaked right off and were light and delicious, but the center of it was impossible to eat and I just left it on the plate. Also the kale and sweet potatoes that came with the sea bass were DRENCHED in butter. SO. Much. Butter. Gross. For $ 37, this just wasn’t good. + Chocolate cake dessert was definitely taken straight out of a freezer/fridge. The frosting was hard rather than soft and fluffy. Bummer. Probably won’t be back for dinner, but I would definitely recommend checking out the outdoor bar on a summer day. It’s right off the Potomac and usually a good time. As far as dining at the Waterfront, I’d recommend trying Farmers Fishers Bakers
