Apparently my oldest nephew and I are the anomalies in the family, because neither one of us drink hot beverages. Sure, I’ll drink an occasional hot chocolate during the winter months or if I’m sick, I’ll force myself to drink some hot tea to help soothe my symptoms, but other than that, I don’t indulge in hot tea or coffee beverages. Everyone in my family drinks either tea or coffee and some drink both. I’ve seen my sister down 5 mugs of tea within a 2 hour time frame. CRAZY! Better yet, why? When we have a family breakfast or brunch, my 20 year old nephew and I stick to the cold bevies. Needless to say, when I went to L’Enfant Plaza to pick up lunch with a co-worker and she shrieked with delight that a Capital Teas was now open, I was less than impressed. She dragged me in and they had a few samples at the door. Since I was familiar with the names of the teas(Lemon Drop and Sangria) I thought, why not, I’m on my lunch break and those drinks usually have alcohol in them, so I’ll just pretend. To my surprise, both had an awesome flavor, but I really adored the Lemon Drop! It was«so fresh and so clean… clean!» I could actually see myself drinking this tea. We entered into the store and were greeted by a very friendly sales associate that made several suggestions. I browsed the names of the loose teas that were displayed and I could see how someone could really appreciate tea, with flavors like, Mango Sunny Passion, Blueberry Black, Annapolis Treasures and Strawberry Oolong… to name a few. They also carry various tea accessories, like teapots, tea infusers, mugs etc. The first Capital Teas opened in Annapolis, Maryland in 2007. They have over 200 premium, organic, and natural teas and infusions, and some unique blends. The teas that are sold here are so fabulous, they’re served in various upscale restaurants throughout the U.S. Countless studies have shown that various teas(green, black, etc) are extremely good for the immune system and with so many selections, you could have a different one everyday. I even saw a detox tea displayed. For the serious as a heart attack tea drinkers, you can order your tea from them online. No Tea, No Shade(see what I did there with the reference to the tea… ha!) but I may not be a tea drinker and I may not know tea like some avid tea drinkers, but I do know what I like and I like this place. The fact that it started in Maryland is a huge plus, so I must return to get my own special blend. I think I’ll stick to the ones that’s named after alcoholic bevies… it seems to suit me well.(Judgement Free Zone)
