LOVE this place, cures my life after a night out. Mac and Cheese is wonderful.

Went in on a pretty busy Saturday night. Food was great as always and everyone was super attentive! Loved our waitresses Constance and Junie!

I ENCOURAGE everyone to stop in for Chicken and Waffles. SUNDAYS are busy so be prepared, the staff is really fun so the wait isn’t bad. The general manager is very personable and thats hard to come across nowadays. Just give it a try, everyone taste are different.

Remember when you had to go to grandmas house on Sunday and the meat was cooked until it was drier than the Mojave desert. This chicken was drier and it sucked.

Best chicken and waffles around town for sure! If you haven’t gone here, stop what you’re doing and get in your car and drive here. Service was good food was great! Oh and $ 7 bottomless mimosas! I also recommend Dales! Not your standard chicken strips.

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday and we were seated in the back of the restaurant. The first thing we noticed is that the cook was touching every single food(chicken, waffles etc.) with his bare hands and puts them on the plate without any gloves so we thought«ok … maybe he’s clean and we shouldn’t really worry». 2nd, service was horrible. It took 30 mins to get apple juice and Sprite to our table. Not only it took a long time but the plastic glass that had the apple juice in it was dirty. 3rd thing I noticed since we were seated in the back is that the cook who is not wearing any gloves was touching the trash can so he can scrape off the scraps from the waffle maker. After cleaning and touching the garbage, he grabbed the cooked waffle and put it on a plate to be served. And the last thing is that the cook had grabbed a big pan of chicken that came from the cabinets below the waffle makers and emptied it out on the counter next to the stove and made me wonder if the chicken that they serve is fresh or they just refry the chicken. We both looked at each other and was like«that was disgusting and we should just leave» we both walked out without getting our order and we were going to say something but we didn’t want to disgust the other guests that were eating. Never go this place unless you don’t care on how your food is handled. This place is unsanitary and service was extremely poor.

How does this place only have 3.5 stars? The food is delicious with great customer service on top of that. A friend and I were in the area and found Home of Chicken and Waffles via Unilocal.I order Angie’s Delight and he ordered something with A LOT of food haha. The greens and rice with gravy were amazing(grits are just ok. Go with the rice and gravy or rice and beans instead) and my fried chicken breast was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Our server, Constance, was extremely friendly and made sure our drinks were always filled. If you haven’t tried this place, you’re missing out!

Very very subpar. My friend and I came here after shopping craving some chicken, of course. The fried chicken was super delish and really flavorful, however the chicken strips we got were really dry and(dare I say) sawdust-y. The waffles were super fluffy and decadent, which was a plus. Service was something that really irked me. Usually I love when waiters are attentive, but in this case, our waitress was practically down our necks for half the meal. She kept coming over asking how our meal was going and if we needed refills whenever we took a sip. It was beyond excessive. Also her tone was very condescending, which kind of ticked me. Probably won’t be back, but the look of the place was cute.

After a terrible experience at the Oakland location, we decided to give this place another try in Walnut Creek. So glad we did!!! The oldies were jamming the food was great, and our server Dennis was very tentative and even cracked a few jokes! I think we may return just hang out with this guy lol! They also do bottomless mimosas on certain days, go figure!

Bottomless mimosas are just THEBEST. That aside, I love eating here. The chicken is always cooked to perfection and the service is some of the best I’ve experienced in the area. I highly recommend the mac and cheese!

I’ve always been a distant admirer of Chicken n Waffles joints. There’s simply not many soul food joints out there. But if you’re looking for the whole 9, you gotta stop by the Home of Chicken and Waffles. I went to the one off of Mt Diablo in Walnut Creek. Once we stepped in, Michelle, one of the waitresses, made immediate eye contact with us and although it was packed, she immediately tried to make things work out: «I can bring these tables together so you can all sit together… or you can sit at the counter, there are 4 right next to each other.» She was sweet from the get-go. Ambience: Modernish café style but totally celebrates old school soul with ongoing loops of Marvin Gay and such. This is family run and they pay homage with caricatures of the family members displayed neatly on the walls. The service of all the waiters/waitresses creating a homely feel with the very good food warranted an overall ***** experience. Food: I had«Angie’s Delight»: generous portion of fried chicken breast, buttery grits, and waffle. The chicken was a little dry, well seasoned, but the waffles and grits were on point. It was bottomless mimosa day so that more than made up for the chicken. If you’re craving great soul food with a friendly family service-oriented crew, stop by and let the food and service bring a smile to your face!

It’s so goooood, isn’t it so good. Perfect every time. I like that they’re open late. So nice to have one near by so I don’t have to drive to Oakland for that chicken and waffle hunger pang!

Chicken was bone dry and under seasoned. Service was superb. Side dishes were superb. The red beans and rice, grits, and the biscuits were all top flight. This is the second time I’ve been here and both times chicken was awful. They need to get their chicken cooking times down as clearly the oil is too hot as the exterior was near black in color. If they get there chicken right, this could be a gem. Until then stay away away from the fried chicken and stick to the sides and waffles.

This has to be the most succulent fried chicken in Walnut Creek with delicious fluffy waffles. The food takes awhile but it’s worth the wait. Friendly waiting staff,

Love introducing new addictions to people — this is THESPOT! The chicken is delicious — nice, crispy & flaky on the outside; juicy & tender on the inside. The waffles have a slight hint of cinnamon, just the right amount of sweetness to complement the savory chicken. The hot sauce they have is probably my favorite! This is much better tasting than Roscoe’s! Plus an added bonus — I love that they’re open late night.

Went on a quiet sat early evening… certain items on the menu were already out. Service was acceptable. Server tried to upsell on us. Menus were all gnarly already while the place looked pretty new. Chicken and waffles were fine. its nothing memorable nor is it cheap. It was just food. The place also smelled like bleach the day we were there.

I really hate giving bad reviews but this place has got to do better! It’s a Friday night you should be fully stocked! No greens or potatoes of any sort. The yams were just ok, I prefer a bit more firmness and not whipped like baby food. My waffle was soggy when I specifically asked for crispy. I told the waitress and all she said was«I made a note about that, sorry» I mean service was good. The waitresses were very attentive. So two stars for fast and friendly service. The chicken was fried perfectly but lacked moisture and flavor. Thank goodness they had hot sauce! Maybe the one in Oakland is better…

I totally understand why this place got such bad reviews as the service can be slow when it gets packed. It is run by two ppl. only and it can take some time for your drinks or food to arrive but you need to know that they are doing their best to get everything to as fast as possible. And you can’t leave out how friendly and nice they are! As soon as we came in, we were greeted right away(I should have remembered her name but I forgot) and she just told us to pick a table where we would feel most comfortable. She was also so nice to bring some coloring sheets and crayon for our boys and after we ordered it was just a waiting game. As they were busy taking orders from each table, putting it into the system as well as taking«to go orders». Their fried chicken is super delicious. Their seasoning is not too overpowering and the meat was juicy! Hubby and children had the chicken and waffle and I ordered mine with rice/black beans and greens. I would totally go back for their beans and rice!!! It was delicious! It was a little spicy and went very well with the greens that was a little tart and chicken! Perfect combo! The ambient and décor is total 90s. Gotta love the good olé time ;-) I would come back if I feel like some good chicken and waffle but don’t feel like driving all the way to Berkeley Grayson 900!

I came here after an exhausting spinning class next door and was expecting a fat and delicious meal since this is a Southern establishment that usually warrants a full meal full of fried chicken, carb, sugar and sweet tea. The menu definitely seems like they have it all. If you want fried chicken, you got it. You need mac and cheese, they have it. If you are craving for southern pie, they got it on the menu too. I ordered the Derrick Deal and so did my mother-in-law while my father-in-law ordered the strawberry waffle. I think we waited for an age for our food to arrive. It almost feels like they were going to actually capture a chicken to get my fried chicken on the table! So, I got the leg with my order but instead I got the thigh. I didn’t want to protest since I already waited long enough for it. Regardless, the thigh is actually tiny without much meat to it and it is on the drier side. They were really generous with my sides of candied yam, collard green and a nice size of corn bread though. The service is slow but they were nice staff. I think the kitchen just wasn’t fast enough to turn around the food. Hope they staff up more and improve the quality of their fried chicken.
