My husband and I recently spent a weekend in Walla Walla with friends, and visiting Long Shadows was definitely a highlight! It would be impossible to choose a favorite wine from the incredible range they offer-from a fantastic Riesling to a beautiful Rosé to so many great reds, each made from local grapes in partnership with world renown winemakers. The tasting room is beautiful and the view of the countryside is spectacular. We highly recommend a visit!

Just went wine tasting at Long Shadows and it was fantastic! They pair locally grown grapes with some of the world’s best wine makers to produce some of the best wines coming out of Washington state. Wine tasting among the beautiful Chihuly glass pieces in their tasting room was truly a treat.

This place came highly recommended from some locals but after reading some of the reviews about customer service, we were hesitant to make an appointment, but we ultimately decided to give it a try. I am extremely pleased that we did so! We were promptly greeted when we entered the winery by Sally D. Sally was extremely friendly and accommodating. She let us walk around the really eclectic and unique tasting room before letting us pick the seats we wanted to taste wines at. She started off by giving a good background of the winery and brought us some crackers and water. We tasted the Poet’s Leap Riesling, a Rose(for the life of me I cannot remember the name, but it was made by Gilles Nicault), Saggi, Pedestal, Dance and Sequel. These wines were top notch and fantastic. Sally did a great job explaining the wines and answering our questions. As we were tasting the Poet’s Leap Riesling, several of the winemakers came into the tasting area(Randy Dunn, John Duval and Gilles Nicault). They were sitting at the main table and one of their friends brought homemade blueberry cheesecake to pair with Mr. Duval’s Sequel. Their friend was very gracious and offered us a piece of cheesecake and recommended we also pair it with the Sequel. I asked to take a couple pictures with the winemakers and they were very happy to accommodate. We chatted with them briefly about wine and they were extremely friendly. Gilles especially was great to talk to about wine. This was truly a fantastic experience and a great tasting. Plenty of good wine to sample, wonderful views and a neat tasting room. I would highly recommend scheduling an appointment here.

No complaints about the wine, but the service was sluggish, aloof and snobby. We didn’t have an appointment, because the voicemail neglected to mention this requirement — and even after we alerted the host about this omission, he told us we were wrong. Then he reluctantly seated us, and proceeded to ignore us for about 20 minutes between each pour, even though they didn’t appear to be slammed. After we(diplomatically) pointed out his spotty service, he refused to waive our tasting fee. Very disappointing experience.

Devin the guy who served our party caused some unpleasant experience at the vineyard. He did not explain at all upfront that the tasting fee credit does not apply to white wines(never heard of this thing at any winery). He also charged our group twice on credit card transaction and refused to refund and was very rude. The management should do something about this to improve the tasting experience. Summary: good wines but the staff is too inexperienced to work in the tasting room.

It’s one of my personal favorites and I love to visit Long Shadows when ever I get the chance. If you ask ahead of time they are willing to give you a tour of the facility and show you the process of wine making. The atmosphere is great with all the glass art work, not to mention the personal attendant that serves you in the tasting room. At Long Shadows it’s all about you and no other while you are there. It’s a must for sure. Garza Wine Tours includes Long Shadows on their itinerary every chance they get.

The wine is located on a beautiful hill with amazing glass art. My favorite wine is the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

What a great experience. Looks to be a fairly new facility with great views overlooking the valley. The format is a bit unusual, they seat you in a lounge and bring the wines out to you. The pace is very relaxed and the personnel are knowledgeable. The wine making style is also unique with each wine having a different wine maker, who is usually from a different country. Quite different and the wines are VERY good.

It started with a long drive to seemingly nowhere and finished at an elegant winery sitting on top of a hill with great views in almost every direction you looked. What was our most anticipated tasting of our trip to Walla Walla ended with a little disappointment. I had read about gathering some of the world’s most renowned winemakers and have them focus on just one wine and the reviews were glowing. The tasting room was very eclectic with walls of windows and very modern art throughout. When we were seated, they explained how the tasting would go as we were able to taste all of the wines. Our letdown came with the server. She was pleasant and courteous but not prone to conversation as we wanted to learn about the wines and the winemaker. She poured, provided some details about the wine, and then left. She also spaced the time between tastings too long as we found ourselves waiting far longer than expected. These were minor inconveniences though and the overall experience was good. I think with a few minor adjustments it could be great. I still recommend checking this place out as the wines were really good.

Wonderful service and staff was very knowledgeable about their wines as well as what region, year and how the wine was bottled. We truly felt like we were learning new and interesting information about the vineyard and wines this facility had. Staff was courteous and prompt in getting each tasting poured in a timely manner Requires an appointment but they let is in without one very graciously.

This winery is outside of Walla Walla, and in the middle of wheat fields. It’s very modern and edgy. They take reservations on the weekend because the tasting room isn’t too large. It has BEAUTIFUL Chihuly Glass Art. I guess the CEO of Long Shadows is best friends with Dale Chihuly. They have big windows in the tasting room so you can see where they make the wine and the barrels. We had about 5 tastings. They were all very delicious. I like when they pick grapes from their own vineyard right outside the tasting area, but the wines are from Washington and all over. Each wine has one winemaker, so they’re all very limited and exclusive wines. The gentleman pouring the wine was extremely knowledgeable. Since I was there for a bachelorette party, we weren’t looking to be extremely educated about the wines. The tasting room got very loud when it was crowded, which made it hard to talk. Maybe early on the weekends or during the week to avoid crowds.

In early October 2013 we tasted 6 wines and all were absolutely fantastic! Would highly recommend a visit here. After 4 days of tastings in the Walla Walla, Horse Heaven Hills, Yakima and Rattlesnake Hills areas, Long Shadows was clearly the best! Go online and read how world-class winemakers are brought in from all over the world to make various wines. Very impressive and it shows in their wines. The tasting room is quite elegant, with Chihuly glass art, but not so as to make us «average Joe’s» feel unwelcome. Our server was very nice and quite knowledgeable. The tasting room has a fabulous view of the surrounding hillsides.

Architectural modern gem with an personal approach to wine tasting. Rachel was very knowledgeable, friendly and she paid a lot of attention to detail. The red wines are first class showcasing several winemakers who have received prestigious awards. Our favorite was Feather.

You would need to make an appointment for you to taste at their tasting room but it was definitely worth it. I loved how each bottle of wine had a different winemaker so you get to taste all the different style of wines that they have to offer. The tasting room is beautiful with glass art work. The staff was very knowledgeable and were very hospitable.

My favorite wines and great tasting experience. We hadn’t made a tasting appointment since we didn’t know how the timing would work out for a girls’ trip, but when we were tasting on the west side and had a little time we called and they were able to welcome us in shortly after. The setting of the winery is beautiful and so is the modern tasting room. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting room overlooks their production area, so it’s fun to watch as you taste. The tasting fee is $ 15, but you get generous pours of incredible wines. Nobody was using the bucket here… All the wines are great, you can’t go wrong with any one of them, you can tell that they take great pride in their quality. Don’t skip this one!

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT wines. We walked away with quite a bit of wine from this Winery. Great staff and has to be in the top 2 in the valley. Make it a point to schedule a visit, you’ll love me for it.

The new Long Shadows winery and tasting room are dramatically located on a hill with a grand view of surrounding countryside with very simple modern architecture highlighted by Dale Chihuly’s glass art including a chandelier and several large organic pieces. It helps that Long Shadows wines are spectacular. Started with Poet’s Leap riesling followed by reds including Saggi, Feather, Pedestel, Pirouette, and Chester Kidder and siphoned tastings from new barrels of cab and merlot. The finish was Poet’s Leap botrytis… yum. Toured the library of Long Shadows wines. Other visitors to the winery were great company making for a very pleasant 2 hours. Visting the winery is far better than the Library Tasting Room in Woodinville and worth the long drive east from Seattle and there are other wineries to visit around Walla Walla but Long Shadows took best of trip. Call ahead. Reservations are highly recommended or required.
