It’s closed. I tried to go here and there was no restaurant! It was a new Asian fusion restaurant. The phone said it was disconnected as well. I’m so disappointed!

They’ve got to be out of business. I’ve ventured up there twice now only to find it locked. Too bad.

As far as I can tell this place is out of business(cardboard in the storefront windows and a ‘for sale’ sign on the truck). Too bad, Wake Forest could use some more varied cuisines such as this.

It started with a Truck… Now a Restaurant! Come in! Walk up to the Counter, Order and you can see the Guy cook your food, OPEN Kitchen ! ! ! sit down and eat… See you again tomorrow! You can get a: Hot Dog Taco Burrito Stir-fried Dish(of Food) I’m a Fan of: Spicy Pork Taco! Wow! Yes! Wow! I WILL be back for the others(Chicken and Beef)… Much better than almost any«Tacos» from Any other Culture!!! BBQ Beef had very good flavor I’m NOT a fan of: Grilled Dumplings did not have much Flavor 2 ½ stars Sauce for the Dumplings was poor 1 star Fried Rice was very poor less than 1 star Broccoli… I prefer not to have any and it seems right now you may not be able to order the Mix of Stir-fried Vegetables without Broccoli Next …When in Tex-Mex — This may be Useless information… Somebody told me: Korea Town(Los Angeles) has the second largest city Population of Koreans(Seoul being first)… So I have two Guesses: 1. Koreans eat food wrapped in Crêpe thin«Bread» like a Taco(my first guess)… 2. LA Influence of Mexican or Central/South American food! Lots of food is good wrapped in Bread… Tacos Burritos are NOT Traditional Korean Food??? Those are my Guesses! Since these Tacos are better than most Mexican Taco’s I’ll be LOVING This until I can Love no more! I mentioned Crepes so don’t feel left out and I mentioned LOVE so please feel free to Feel included!

What a great place and so glad to have a Korean restaurant in WF. If you haven’t tried Korean, do not be afraid to try it. I have been eating Korean since the late 80’s and this little joint in WF is good. We had the Bulkogi(Korean BBQ beef) w/fried rice and it had a great not spicy flavor, SUPERTENDER, and selected kimchi(spicy cabbage) as the side. In addition, tried Kimchi Bukkeumpab(stir fried rice and veggies) with tufo plus a fried egg. I had never had this combo and loved it! The portions are large so you won’t go away hungry. If you want a smaller portion get the lunch size :). The place was very clean, the staff wonderful and I am ready to go back. Eat and shop local!!! Support the real deal!

OMG it’s spicy! The staff is very nice and helpful. I guess I’m a lil weak when it comes to spice. I told them low spice and 4 was kicking my butt. They made me a cream sauce to counter act the spiciness. They even offered me a popsicle. LOL Once I adjusted to the spice, the flavors were great. You get a lot of food too. Sadly, I couldn’t save it. The place is very clean and well lit. If you like spicy this place is for you. If you don’t, just make sure you order a 1 or 2.

Had the Spicy Bulkogi today at the Durham Food Truck Rodeo. It was SOGOOD! They let you choose your spiciness level(from 1 to 10) and I’m glad I chose a 6. I do like spicy food, and that was perfect for me … pretty hot, but not killer hot. I think 10 would melt my lips. Anyway, I can’t wait to try some of the other menu items out!

Nothing too special here. The other Korean food truck, Koyku, is far better. The meat here is decent and the sauce that it is marinated in is good. There’s not much in the way of variety and creativity here, but if you’re really craving Korean meats and are near the truck, it’s a pretty dependable place to go. Otherwise, if there’s a bunch of other food trucks nearby at the park or Farmer’s Market, I would recommend giving those a try instead.

I tried their goonmandoo(fried dumplings) today. Far better than the spicy bulgogi I had last time. I was very happy! Three stars is for portion and price(5.50 bucks)… but if you are craving fried dumplings, you gotta do what you gotta do. If I’m craving dumplings, I will come here instead of going to chirba chirba. Oh, and I was expecting 5 pieces(as shown in the picture on menu on the truck) but I got 6 pieces instead so that made me smile. If I have some extra duke food points left, I think I’m going to come back to get dumplings again, and also try the boggeumbab and bbq tacos.

I just think that if you are really wanting some good korean food and you’re already paying $ 7 – 8 dollars for it, you might as well go to a good Korean restaurant and share some good dishes with some friends. Honestly, I have had much better Korean food from other places. Pro: some of the best kimchi I’ve had, but being someone who can get pretty good kimchi for much cheaper from S-mart, I can’t be compelled to go to this truck just to get that. Con: I got a hot dog with kimchi once, and it was the worst thing I’ve had from a truck, and I’ve had a lot of trucks. The bulgogi on it was kinda tough, the nacho cheese added nothing and, in fact, made it a soggy, rich mess. The kimchi was great, but not with the cheese they put on there. I don’t really know what that was, but it was not anywhere near being decent, let alone good. The taco was alright, but it was nothing special, really. It’s a good novelty item, but it’s not something I’d repeatedly come back for. Being someone who loves Korean food, I’m just not a fan of this.

Tonight we went to the Korean/American/Mexican fusion food truck in Durham. I got a pork taco and a «bul-dog»(a hot dog topped with kimchi, bulgogi beef, cabbage, and mayo). The taco was mediocre with delicious meat but a teeny, tiny, soggy corn tortilla that was about the size of my palm(and I have small hands). The hot dog was delicious(and very salty)!!! The bread was warm and chewy with rich mayo complimenting crisp crunchy napa cabbage, kimchi, and steamy bulgogi beef. The melted cheese was a little excessive and the standard hot dog seemed almost out of place in the midst of the rest of the gooey asian yummy. But somehow it all worked into an indulgent Asian-American comfort food. Standing with rowdy friends in the middle of an empty Wells Fargo parking lot on a crisp autumn night was the ideal ambience.

There’s a certain novelty about eating at a food truck that can cloud one’s judgment of the actual food. It was fun to eat from a food truck(I don’t have much food truck experience — the only other one I’ve been to is the Mexican taco truck in Carrboro next to Armadillo), but when I stopped to think about the actual food I was eating, I was not as impressed. I ordered the Spicy Bulkogi with rice. The meat was overcooked and nearly burnt in some instances — it wasn’t even that nice char that some grilled meats have — it was burnt. The vegetables didn’t add much to the dish, and the flavoring was decent. I had to add the sweet and spicy sauce, which drastically improved the taste, but the meat was still underwhelming. My friends ordered the Jumbo Bul-dog, Spicy Pork and Beef tacos, and the Goon Mandu. Jumbo Bul-dog was probably my favorite of all the dishes I tried. The hot dog seemed out of place, but it turned out to be a decent fit. I really enjoyed the mayo sauce — I think that easily made it an enjoyable dish for me. The bulkogi meat was not noticeably overcooked in this case, so I may have gotten a bad batch for my Spicy Bulkogi with rice. The tacos were small, hard to eat, and overpriced. Nice concept, but poor execution. I ended up eating it with a fork, and had to somehow ration the meat, veggies, and tortilla accordingly. The Goon Mandu wasn’t anything special. It tasted similar to a Chinese chive turnover. Would I eat here again? If it were on the way or nearby, probably. But I don’t think I’d go out of my way just to eat here again.

Now we’re talking. I’d go back and visit this truck. It was good — I think it was even better than Seattle’s Marination Mobile. We ordered a few tacos and the kimchi bokkumbap. We were there with a huge group — and everyone ordered something different, and everyone finished all of their food. I’m talking a diverse group too — older, kids, women, men, caucasian, asian, … I’d say that’s a good sign. This food truck is SOLID. I’m so happy we were able to catch you @NCBulkogi!

Yay, a food truck that visits Raleigh once a week. Don’t snicker, Durham. We are starving over here for food trucks, so we’re happy to have one once a week. For the record, the truck shows up on Centennial Campus, in front of Venture II(920 Main campus Drive, off Avent Ferry)…I think there’s some kind of a no-foodtrucks-in-raleigh loophole since it’s on NC State property. I love their menu – it’s a playful collection of «What else can we put bulkogi on» dishes. Most of the menu items won’t be surprising – potsticker-like dumplings, bulkogi on rice, etc. But there are bulkogi tacos, burritos, philly cheese steak and even a bulkogi covered hotdog! Ha! (Okay, mid-review report: This is officially the most times I have typed«bulkogi» in my life. Back to our regularly-scheduled review…) I got the philly cheese steak, which was a pretty good deal for $ 5.50(6″ sub-size sandwich.) The bread was damn good – crunchy on the outside, good flavor. The filling was definitely delicious – well spiced meat bound together with just the right amount of melty cheesy goodness. I had asked for it to be spiced up, but I’m assuming that didn’t happen(I ordered a 7 out of 10 on the spiciness scale, so I would hope that would be noticeable.) No matter – they’ve got a couple of spicy sauces with little to-go cups right there on the counter. Those sauces made a tasty addition to my sandwich once I got back to my office. My only complaint about the sandwich was that there wasn’t enough filling in it. If they want to keep costs low, i’d say it’s not exactly more meat that this sandwich needs(although, I wouldn’t complain about that). I think this sandwich needs some vegetation… something in the crunchy texture department. I think some sauteed peppers would be great, but something like a cucumber salad would also be awesome. Which leaves me wondering, when will be be seeing the bulkogi banh mi? That would be one hell of a sandwich. And just one last comment — I’d love to see this truck do away with the styrofoam. Nowadays, there are so many more affordable, environmentally-friendly alternatives for«to go» packaging. Styrofoam is so 1975, man. And let’s face it, the type of customer who will be loyal to a food truck and go to the trouble to hunt down their favorite one? well, disliking styrofoam is also part of that person’s demographic.

I just recently discovered the food trucks in Durham and have visited the Bulkogi Taco Truck a few times. I follow them on Twitter in order to know their daily location. They seems to be pretty consistent in being at the Wachovia off of Ninth street in Durham, and this is where I have found them. I tried the spicy Bulkogi BBQ with rice the first time I went. I was asked on a scale of 1 – 10 how hot I wanted it to be. I said ‘5’ and this proved to be plenty spicy enough for me. The cue was quite tasty with an interesting mix of «sweet and heat«. Definitely a lot different than traditional NCBBQ! The second time I went I tried the tacos. Again very good, spicy sweet and an interesting change from your traditional Mexican taco. I only ordered 3 though, not knowing that they would be so small, so it ended up not filling me up. The next time I would probably order 4 or more, although at two dollars a piece that can add up. I have been fortunate that when I have visited the Bultogi Food Truck they haven’t been very busy so the wait has been minimal. I plan on visiting again soon to see what else they have to offer.

With the exception of the time I was served extremely stale taco tortillas(at the Cooke Street Carnival), Bulkogi has proved to be a solid four-star experience. YAY! 1) I’m amazed that so much flavor can come out of a truck. If I tried to cook even a basic can of beans in my own car, it would probably come out tasting like some combo of gym clothes and dog hair. 2) The Koren BBQ tacos are really good. Like REALLY good. Better than food I’ve ordered at Korean restaurants even. I’m salivating right now thinking about them. BOO! 1) It’s true, the portions are teeny-tiny for the price. But if I had only one choice among trucks at a food rodeo, I’d probably still pick them every time. 2) I’ve toyed with some of the menu, but haven’t found quite as much wow factor with the items beyond tacos.

«Tasty Korean-influenced tacos, etc.» Was definitely excited to try this place out at the«Bull City Food Truck Fiesta» today… and VERY glad I showed up long before it started, as the line for this was insanely long(~30 people?) by 15 minutes after start-time. But that’s testament to how much people like or want to try this food! I got the Bulkogi beef slider($ 4) and a chicken taco($ 2). The slider had chopped up beef, onions, cheese, etc., all melted together in a bun– extremely tasty. Much better than most standard fast food sandwiches. The chicken taco had kimchi and other toppings on it and was very flavorful & good but surprisingly small(as other reviewers noted) — smaller than tacos from Mexican trucks around town. The combination of both made a reasonable-sized(and reasonably priced) lunch, though. Overall, I won’t be driving around town to chase this truck, but if I’m hungry and pass near it, I’d be very happy to stop and buy something!

Alright, this review is overdue. Someone reminded me to write this(Yes, I’m looking at you, Christina G. :) !!. Bulkogi Taco Truck, or BTT, surfaced not so long ago. Jen and I caught it out of the corner of our eyes when we drove by Wachovia Bank on W. Main Street once. Our curiosities were piqued but we didn’t make it there for sometime. Subsequently, we saw how it’d magically draw a crowd on balmy evenings — yes, people came to BTT in droves. Most of the kids finished school last week and not many were around. We got our chance at trying BTT for the first time just the other night. We ordered a few Korean BBQ tacos(one chicken and one pork), kimchi side and a small rice dish. There was no one waiting in front of us so the wait was only about 5 mins. The tacos were interesting but didn’t bowl me over. The kimchi was tasty but the portions were way too small for a side that costed 3 bucks(I can buy a tub of kimchi from an Asian grocery store for not much more than that). The final rice dish was decent but not particularly memorable. I think BTT is novel and their tacos are above average; I still prefer Los Comales or La Vaquita I or II — all of these make nicer tacos at a cheaper price. In general, BTT was alright and certainly offered an interesting twist on the tacos — I might get it again if the line is short.
