We had a great breakfast here before venturing to Waimea Canyon. The french toast was delicious, the ham & cheese omelet was spot on, and the loco moco was yummy too. Seemed like a place where the locals eat.

We came here because the other breakfast place we wanted to go to was closed early. I was wary of the Unilocal reviews but our food turned out pretty tasty(but really heavy/greasy). It definitely has a local feel to it. I had the basic with Portuguese sausage and eggs. I used about an inch worth of napkins to soak out the grease from the sausage though. My hubby had the breakfast sandwich. We also ordered the french toast to share and it was so amazingly good. 5 stars for the taste :) The service was… well there was really no service. BUT at least we didn’t get bad service. in the short period of time we were sitting there, a couple of families came in and left without ordering. they closed one hour earlier then their posted hours so one guy who called in an order almost couldn’t get in. I was going to leave a 4 star review but then throughout the day, while visiting Waimea canyon, we both didn’t feel too well/nauseated, therefore I’m giving it a 3 star.

This is the worst place ever. The owner called me «stupid» under his breath. He handed me a cup with ice in it for the ice coffee I ordered. I began to fill the cup with coffee and he called me stupid. I asked him if he just called me a name and he said«yeah I did» no apology. This place is also dirty and I wouldn’t go back to a place that calls their customers«stupid». The only stupid thing I did was pay $ 2.50 for a cup of coffee.

Local home style cooking. Definitely a local favorite and probably not recommended to healthy food people. French Toast is da bomb! I had a bacon, banana, French Toast sandwich. Service is fast too,

Below average breakfast, we ate here only because we wanted some breakfast before spending the day at Waimea Canyon. Oily hash browns, standard omelette a, not much to choose from. Dark and a bit run down.

Breakfast at obsessions is alright nothing to get excited about. I live in Kekaha on the west side of Kauai and only frequent obsessions once in a blue moon. I’m originally from New York and I am use to diner style breakfast with full service, however obsessions is not like that. One reviewer hit the nail on the head when they described the orange juice as tasting fermented. I have never had the O.J. taste right here. The thing obsessions has going for it mostly is location. Tourists come through town enroute to Waimea Canyon. Also it’s one of only two places that you can sit down and eat breakfast at. Jay’s next to the post office is the other option. Don’t be overly excited and you won’t be overly disappointed. Mostly all restraunts on Kauai are like obsessions unless your in the more touristy spots such as the resorts or Lihue/Kapaa/Hanalei areas. This is substanance for money that won’t break the bank.

It is hard to mess up breakfast but somehow they managed it. Orange juice tasted fermented. The breakfast sandwich was cold. The pancakes weren’t fully cooked. It took the better part of the morning to get the taste out of our mouth.

Great location and the worst food we had on our 10 days trip. If you care about health aspect of what you eat, dont eat here. We asked what natural they have for their French toast and girl said«Nothing». Coffee was bad, they didnt have real milk, brown sugar or honey ever. So sorry to leave this review. Please, try to serve food that is real and healthy, poisoning people with fake foods cant feel good!

Their breakfast hours are 6am-2pm, lunch is 10am-2pm. I ordered two cold lunch sandwiches at 10:30. I was told it would be a wait because they have several breakfast orders. I assumed that meant once they finished the breakfast orders ahead of me, they would make my sandwiches. WRONG! It meant when they were done serving breakfast entirely they would maybe clear off the counter space to make my sandwiches. People walked in 10 min after me and were served and done eating while I was still waiting. I didn’t even get a «sorry, your order will be out soon…» At the 45 min mark I was ready to walk out the door and let them keep the money. Luckily, my bf asked for a refund which they gave him since they hadn’t even started making the sandwiches. My guess is that locals were there for breakfast and I was very obviously a tourist. Avoid this place if you’re visiting the island and don’t want a bad experience. No Aloha spirit here…

Good food, good prices. The pancakes and French toast were very good. If you have kids, and they’re anything like mine, keep in mind that they do not have a restroom; you need to go to the Big Save store next door.

No nonsense breakfast in the heart of Wiamea is what you’ll find at Obsessions Café. It was a humid Sunday morning, our stomachs were rumbling and the pickin’s were slim. Thankfully Unilocal was there to guide us to a restaurant to fulfill our breakfast desires. A blend of Hawaiian and mainland fare is available on the menu, and the staff is all business… not quite like a specific Seinfeld episode, but you’ll find find out quickly enough. How is one to decide what to do for breakfast, something sweet or savory?! When in doubt, and hungry enough, do both. An custom made omelette and an order of pancakes were selected from the menu. There are two syrups you can select from stored in squeeze like bottles, [sweet] coconut or traditional maple. The coconut syrup is pretty thick, and very sweet — overly sweet for me which made me opt for the maple instead. The pancakes were OK, nothing remarkable and no unique twist here. The phrase«no nonsense» comes to mind again when describing these pancakes. They’re fluffy without disintegrated from syrup and not so rubbery that you can’t use a fork to break off manageable bites. The omelette follows suit offering a generous portion of eggs and omelette type filler. It was definitely enough to satisfy my hunger, but again nothing really stood out. The seating area is small and filled with plastic patio type chairs. There is a center island where thermoses of water and condiments are stored which can be more difficult to move around when there are people getting what they need. I don’t recall there being any specific parking lot for Obsessions, but there is ample street parking available through the town. Even if you get a bad parking spot you’re a couple of minutes away from the front door. No nonsense breakfast, fare prices, hunger stands not a chance.

The ultimate loco moco is GOOD. I like that it comes with Portuguese sausage and cheese. The sausage has a nice chili flavor, yum!

This place was conveniently located close to the cottages we stayed at and offered decent food at a moderate price. Nothing jaw dropping but fast, easy and convenient. I loved the hash browns and the coffee was great too.

This little café is perfect for grabbing a quick breakfast and coffee before heading into the canyon. We split the french toast and the denver omelet w/hash-browns. Both were delicious! The french toast was just right and made with nice, thick, sweet pieces of bread. Be sure to try the coconut syrup! So good! The denver omelet was amazing, was a good size, and came with a large helping of hash-browns and two slices of toast. The vegetables in the omelet were fresh and the mix of flavors was perfect. Hrs are Wed-Sun, 6am-2pm. It’s open earlier than most of the other breakfast options and it’s well worth the stop!

We had French toast and coffee. For us, the French toast was a bit too sweet as the bread was already sweet. I remember we ate here a few years ago. That time was ok as well. How it works: Order at the counter. Get your drink and utensils at the center island. Tip1. This place opens very early like 6:00. Tip2. No bathroom at the restaurant. Use the next door Big Save bathroom by the cashier #1, there is a key. Unilocal365 — 208⁄365

I can honestly say I did not have high expectations of this place. Now you need to understand when you are in Waimea, Kauai there isn’t much choices. My previous places did not hold well, so I was ready for another disappointment. I actually been here before but did not remember to much about it, so lets see about round 2. The prices are nothing to go crazy about. Waimea even though it borders a plantation village of Kekaha it still considered a touristy area. It is the gateway to the Waimea Canyon, basically saying its the last stop before the 45 minute drive to the canyon. So the prices didn’t surprise me. Prices are about $ 6 to $ 10. Its a breakfast/brunch spot so you have to check out before you head up to the canyon. I was very happy to hear that they make their own bread. I love my sandwiches, having been to New York I understand a perfect sandwhich. Due to prices Hawaii will never live up to the price and quality of New York. Meat will never be cheap in Hawaii so places need to other things to stand out. Making your own bread makes a difference. I ordered the Pastrami sandwhich I was extremely happy of the overall taste of the homemade bread, fresh meat and yummy dressing. They should really emaphasize and advertise the fact they make their own bread. I’m not saying it was the best sandwich I had, but I think it beats Giovanni Hawaii. It may be dependant on what you order but I was happy of my choice. Do I have an obsession, no(feel like putting on cologne for some reason) however it will lure me back. Its OBSESSION for men and women. Do I sound like the commercial?

While on Kauai, we always enjoy trying new breakfast places… and stumbled across this please in Waimea while heading up the westside. We actually were waved-in by some locals sitting outside the place, who lunged at the opportunity to mess with some tourist haoles looking around for a good place: «Eh Brah, You’ll like! It’s just like IHOP» he said, as they all chuckled. So we gave it a try(reluctantly). Strange set-up — you order your food at the counter, and they bring it to you on paper plates. I had the 2 eggs and Portuguese sausage. The scrambled eggs were slimy & undercooked, the hash browns dry and crunchy, and the sausage was WAY too salty. My girl had an egg sandwich, which she wasn’t too fond of either. I also agree with the other reviewers that the coffee was terrible — kinda burnt tasting. Overall, you pay for what you get: cheap food, paper plates, and plastic cutlery. They were very friendly there, but sadly we’ll not stop through here again for breakfast — maybe lunch sometime?

Good, homemade food with absolutely no frills. There’s not much to see at Obsessions Café. It’s just a little breakfast spot in a little town with a pretty small breakfast menu(a couple of breakfast sandwiches, a handful of omelettes, and loco moco). But what they do, they do extremely well. I had the denver omelette, which was cooked to perfection, with fresh, wholesome ingredients. The standout was the homemade slice of toast they put on the side. Absolutely fantastic homemade bread! Usually, I skip toast on the side of my breakfast, but I’m glad I didn’t this time. My date for the morning had the breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese. It was completely mouth-watering, served on another delicious homemade bun. These folks know how to make bread! A couple of surprises: they are only open Wed-Sat. Also, they don’t serve espresso, despite the word«café» in the title. Don’t go to Obsessions looking for a fancy meal. They don’t do fancy at Obsessions, but they do serve amazing food.

If you are staying in Waimea or on your way to Waimea Canyon — this is the place to go. My husband and I went to all sorts of pancake spots to get some yummy pancakes(it’s really all he ever wants to eat for breakfast). We tried Ono Family Restaurant(the door to the kitchen was open and they had all their ingredients from Costco — including Krusteaz mix), we tried some other place with strawberry syrup and we ended up making our own at our cottage. Then we went to Obsessions… It’s just a little whole in the wall — we were the only people eating their both times we went. Some surfers pick up food to go but otherwise — it was just us and the cook. He’s a nice guy and makes yummy food. It’s not healthy by any means, but it’s good. They also don’t have alot of options but it’s priced fairly and they make a mean pancake.
