Delicious food, no doubt! I would like to support your Bakery, but you have to find another way to clean up your establishment. I know for a fact that you clean your kitchen twice a week with harsh, highly acidic chemical cleaners to the extent of 25 gallons a week. That is over 1,000 gallons a year that are washed directly onto our reefs(Wailuku in this case). I have watched these reefs and reef life die over the years. Please find an alternative method to cleaning out your kitchen. Please help us save our Maui Reefs. I will *NEVER* support your company until I see a change… Be part of the solution, not the problem! Delicious fresh made baked goods! Love this place and try to make a point to stop in every time I am in Wailuku.

Gave here to get some treats. Super nice staff and great selection of everything. Malasadas are made fresh during peak times(7 – 10 a.m. and 4 – 6 p.m.) We were not there during those times, but it must smell amazing.

Malasadas are hot and fresh made to order but has an inconsistency with the sugar coating. Sometimes there is enough leftover sugar in the box to fill my sugar bowl at home and then sometimes barely anything at all. I like to take them home while still hot and add some cinnamon. Very good with fresh hot coffee minus the sugar. The Okinawan style pork in the bento section is very delicious. I always pick this up when they have it available. Great deals on «day old» pastries too.

HOTMALASADAS! I came here on my last day on Maui specifically for hot malasadas. I looked around and everything looked so delicious! I they had all sorts of mochi and even had cakes and bread of all kinda. I did, however, only get hot malasadas. Half a dozen to be exact and they surely didn’t last long! The ladies behind the counter were helpful. The one who rang up my order even got me an extra bag because she knew that the little white bag might fall apart and didn’t want me to lose any of my goodies to the ground.

Home Maid Bakery is a Maui staple for my family. Every time we visit Maui, we make a stop to pick up manju and mochi as we listen to Dad talk about how he used to live in Happy Valley way back when. The manjus and mochi are treats that we always look forward to. Both come in a variety of flavors, so pick up a few different ones to try if you’re curious! On my trip to Maui this past weekend, most of the manju and mochi were priced at $ 5.65 for a pack of 5(all manju and filled mochi) or 6(for chichidango-type mochi). The manju has a pretty dry, almost crunchy crust and each piece is a little smaller than the size of my palm. Our family favorites are the apple, peanut butter, and sweet potato manjus! The mochi is also really good… so soft and not gummy at all! We prefer the filled mochis, like the peanut butter and an(bean) flavors. Out of pure nostalgia I would have easily given Home Maid five stars except for one thing: moldy mochi. I purchased my mochi and manju on the morning of January 17, which included one tray(6 pieces) of sweet potato mochi with a sell-by date of January 18. I brought everything back to Oahu, and there were no problems. However, when I got home from work the next day(January 18) and went for a piece of the sweet potato mochi, I noticed that there were already mold specks on the remaining 3 pieces in the pack. I still ate the mochi by cutting out all the moldy spots, but I was just shocked and slightly disappointed that something I had only purchased the day before(with a sell-by date of the day I was consuming the mochi) was already starting to mold. I know mochi molds quite easily especially in Hawaii weather, but I’ve honestly never seen mochi mold that quickly. All of the other mochi I purchased on the 17th were still ok when we checked them on the 18th, so I’m thinking maybe we got a mislabeled pack or a bad batch? I hope that’s the case, as I’d hate for that to happen to anyone else in the future! The other logistics are pretty straightforward. Free parking in the lot right in front of the store, and they accept credit card if your purchase is over $ 10. I’d suggest making a trip to Home Maid close to your departure time out of the airport if you want to bring back manju and treats as omiyage! Make sure to check their hours as well — one plus for Home Maid is that they were open on Sunday morning when literally nowhere else in Wailuku was open! Minus two stars for the moldy mochi but plus one star for being open on Sunday… solid bakery to check out, as long as you eat your mochi right away! TL;DR — free parking, watch out for mold on mochi, and tons of yummy manju flavors!

Grabbed some treats from here on our way to The beach this morning. Super cute little bakery located in wailuku town. Lots of parking out front and people tend to move along quickly so you won’t have to wait long for a spot. Inside is filled with tons of different baked goods, bread, rolls, mochi and of course. Malasadas! I picked up a container of Nutella Mochi to try. I’ve never had it before. Very different and pretty tasty. My husband place an order for two regular and two cream filled malasadas. We paid and waited for for them to be prepared as they are made fresh to order. We waited a good 5 minutes and finally one of the clerks noticed them sitting on the counter behind her. She asked who’s they were and we got them. My husband was bummed – getting them«fresh out the oven» is the reason you order them fresh. They taste so much better! Now these had sat and turned almost cold. The line was a bit long and he didn’t want to complain. We ate them and they were still delicious. Just kinda lame but not a huge deal. Nice place to grab some tasty treats. I’ll definitely go back for more carb sweeties!

The fam bam and I came to Home Maid Bakery on our way to the airport around 8:00am on a Tuesday morning to start our journey out of Maui. *cries* I had heard great things about their Masaladas so we got a box of a dozen of the plain Masaladas for the road. They also have cream filled ones but it would also be nice if they had dipping sauces for them or chocolate ones… It would really elevate them to the next level! I wanted some Peanut Butter/Chocolate Mochi or some Peanut Butter Manju as well, but unfortunately they were already sold out at 8:00am. That’s the reason for the loss of a star, I just think that you shouldn’t be out of some of your most popular items so early in the morning on a weekday! Especially when any one of the three I wanted would do. Boo. They have a bunch of other pastries and sushi items around the store, but what they are known for are definitely their Masaladas. They sell them so fast(and they are so fresh) that we had to order them from the counter and they brought out a box of fresh Masaladas. Yummy! They were so hot and fresh that we had to wait until they cooled down a little before eating them. But they were amazing! Service was fast and there is a small parking lot which was almost full when we pulled in. We all agreed that we would definitely come back again next time we are on Maui.

If you are in the mood for some home made treats like Momma used to make. Then look no further when in Maui. Make this a priority stop when in Maui. Buy a few selections to try. Then make it a mandatory stop before you depart to take home some Maui goodness for the plane ride and family to enjoy. I personally like the manju. Coconut and Apple to be exact. But to eat their own. Their pastries, cakes and pies are just as good. If you are gonna eat the baked breads immediately look for the day old stuff. It’s just as good as the day before but for half the price sometimes. Why wouldn’t you. Lastly, if you have a special order. Call it in days before, cause if you don’t go early they maybe all out. And you’d hate to end your trip this way.

Their pastries were alright, but I got a terrible vibe here. The employees acted like they weren’t interested in whether I made a purchase or not. Not a bad place, but there are better places to grab breakfast or a treat while in Maui.

I debated writing this review before having dinner because I knew I was going to be hungry! Too late I guess — just thinking about Home Maid bakery makes my mouth water! I brought our carload of people here to have their first taste of malasadas fresh out the kitchen — lets just say we bought the box of 16 and devoured them in the parking lot. They were that good. We also grabbed Nutella filled mochis and anpans for snacks the next day, along with Hong Kong bread(coco filling yum!) All in all I think we spent just over $ 20 on the most delicious looking goodies. Everything from this local bakery was fresh and tasted amazing. It’s no wonder locals were pouring out of cars as fresh batches of malasadas were being brought out. Everyone here knows what’s good. Now you do, too! Go get some and treat yo self! Yum!!!

I always hit this place up before I go on my trips. The only thing about this place you have to go early while they’re still fresh, they do tend to sell out really quick esp. the manju’s & mochi(#1 requested by the family, lol)

Our local friend brought us to this place to buy something to pack for our long Road to Hana drive. I belivved we were there just as they open. All the food are freshly prepared, baked and packed. This little bakery sells their products like a hotcake. Their brunch pack is better than Hana lunch box. It could just be my opinion as I bought their scrambled egg breakfast pack consists of eggs, fried rice, spam and sausage. Their pack is good for two servings– I split it between my breakfast and lunch. Perfect fit for a long trip. My husband bought a cold cut sandwich for his lunch. We bought a to go malasadas consumed during stops. It was delicious, soft, fluffy and fresh baked. My husband bought coconut cake as our dessert. One of the best coconut cake I have tried. Actually my first time to try. Doesnt know much place in NY who sell with same kind. It is not overly sweet. There are other pastries and bread to choose from. My mistake, I should have bought a lot for stocking purpose during our stay in the resort. The staff are nice and friendly. A good place to make a stop during yor stay in Maui.

Love this place! Dare I say — I liked the malasadas from Home Maid better than Leonard’s! Sorry. Home Maid was more substantial, not as fluffy. And, the custard filled at Leonard’s was messy and the custard was all over everything in the bag, but the custard filled at Home Maid kept all the custard in the malasada. They also had some pre-made sandwiches and salads, along with tons of pastry options. Def go with the malasada though. I got some seasoning salt for my mom, and the woman who checked us out told me a recipe to make some salmon with the salt, which I passed on to my mom. Super friendly. Would def to back.

Growing up in da 808, I must say Hawaii is such a unique place! With so many different ethnicity’s here… we are the true melting pot of the world! I remembered as a little kid, I used to have access to two local bakery shops — one was called«Tropics Bakery», and the other one was called«Dick’s Pastry Shop». Both bakeries use to be situated in Kaimuki town(and although both bakeries are no longer in business) the beautiful thing about these two old local style neighborhood bakeries was that they not only served doughnuts, but they served other local treats. I know on the mainland, doughnuts are quite popular, and a big thing… but in Hawaii, we have so many other choices when looking for some kind of sweet treat… Items like this can me bought at your local bakery - 1. Malasadas 2. Coco Puffs 3. Manju 4. Mochi 5. Cream Puffs 6. Rice Cakes 7. Bibingka 8. Empanada 9. Zippy’s Apple Naples 10. Moon Cakes 11. Haupia Cake 13. Guava Chiffon Cake 14. Poi Doughnuts 15. Snow Puffies(I can’t forget this one… Winna’s!) I can go on, and on about the different types of treats we have here, as they are influenced by the different ethnicity’s that live here in Hawaii. Today, while I was working on Maui, I decided to drop by one of favorite local bakeries — Home Maid Bakery, as I was looking for my favorite«Custard Square». It’s been a long time since I’ve been here… still kinda looks the same, This bakery is known for their Manju, & Malasadas. Upon walking into the bakery, the nice lady greets me… upon looking around I wasn’t able to find my custard square, but I did find their delicious custard pie! I also walked around the shop and decided to get a cup of coffee & cream puff too. What can I say about the treats? Well, the custard pie was all so creamy, & smooth! Noms I tell you! I could have eaten a whole custard pie, but had to hold back… their custard pie is really DANGEROUS! The cream puff on the other hand… well, it was just okay… but I think I’d rather eat the Liliha Bakery cream puff instead. And last of all… the coffee… Can we talk? I gotta tell you Gang, if your a coffee connoisseur… don’t buy the coffee over here. YUCK! I don’t know what kind of brew that was, but after paying for a medium cup of coffee & taking two small sips… when I walked out of the bakery, I dumped it. I even though about driving down the road to Krispy Kreme for a good cup of coffee. Lol! Anyways, if you like local old school joints… this is a classic local bakery! Nice place, has great character, & friendly service too. Lots of free parking in the private parking lot, too bad no place to sit down & eat. It’s basically a grab & go kinda place…

Sweet, fresh made malasadas! We tried the plain malasadas and cream filled ones and they were delicious and not overly sweet! Also had the manupua which was also very good. My boyfriend is a mochi fan so he got the sweet potato one and liked it. I got one package of the sweet potato manju and man was that a mistake, because I should have gotten MORE! Home Maid Bakery is known for their golden crispy manju. So good! Tastes good straight out of the container or reheated in a toaster oven. They have a wide assortment of breads and pastries. The ladies who work there are very friendly and they have great customer service. I wish they shipped manju to the mainland! If anyone wants to ship me some, I’d be willing to pay money :)

Small little bakery. Very easy to drive by if you do not pay attention. Staff was friendly. Takes credit card. If you want something and it is not out, they will make it for you in the back. Malasada Plain — $.75 — Hot, fresh, and fluffy. Very good but I like Leonards a little bit more. Assorted Mochi 5 Pack — $ 5.25 — The mochi itself all tasted the same, just food colored different colors. Very soft and had a nice chew, not to sweet. I wish the fillings were all different but they repeated red bean which was my least favorite. Black sesame, white bean, and coconut all tasted like they were supposed to. I really wanted to try peanut butter. Peanut Butter Manju 5 Pack — $ 5.25 — Manju reminds me of a cross between a cookie and pastry stuffed with peanut butter. Tasty and not sweet. Great place to grab a snack or dessert.
