Excellent food very tasty, real nice having a Mexican restaurant on the Westside without having to drive out from Waianae.

Big fat margaritas, taco platters, sides of guac and cheese… The food was great and the service couldn’t have been more friendly! Great little find on this side of the island! GETTHEGUAC(large. Duh!) and GETTHECHEESE! So so good :) I’ll be back every time I come diving in makaha! Strawberry blended margaritasssssssss

Local Mexican restaurant in my stomping ground. Kind of a small joint. Parking situation isn’t ideal(not a lot of spaces to park in). The restaurant interior isn’t anything too fancy, or large, but the environment is pleasant. Apparently they have live music on occasion. Servers are very friendly, and helpful. Food is tasty, but perhaps a tad pricey for the portion sizes. Overall a pleasant experience. Would return whenever I’m in the mood for something more authentic than Taco Bell.

I. Love. This place! We have gone three times and it is by far the best Mexican food we’ve found on the island. The service is on point and the food is spectacular. This morning a group of us came in after a hike, but it wasn’t quite opening time and they opened early for us, gave us a complimentary chips and salsa and moved mountains to make us and all of our kids comfortable. The server/manager and the host/chef guy were very hospitable and got our food out as quickly as possible even though the kitchen was fully functioning yet. We were super impressed. Thanks so much, we recommend them over any other Mexican food out here!

I noticed a lot of people gave this place a bad rap. I like it here, I mean I had a great experience, took my husband for the first time and he enjoyed his nachos, which by the way was a huge plate that he could only eat half of full of carne asada! We got free chips and salsa, which I always get when I go here. Kinda through me for a loop when I read that it was not offered to some patrons who wrote reviews, I mean it states it on the menu that the 1st bowl is free. Loved the service from our waiter/manager. He gave me his name but I totally forgot it, my bad as I have a sucky memory at times. He was attentive and very jolly. Keep up the good work Tacos & more. I still love ya!

If you’re on the Leeward side & wanting Mexican food you should save your night & head to Kapolei to satisfy your craving. Our food took a long time to come & drinks also. They seem understaffed for a Saturday night, which is normally a busy night for restaurants. I would be okay with that but from reading through all these Unilocal reviews, it’s a normal thing for them. So our waiter took a while to come & take our orders for our entrees. Once I got my food it was the wrong thing, I ordered a «beef enchilada» opened the tortilla it’s pork inside. I told our waiter told me «that’s what you ordered,» I reiterated to him i ordered beef. He rolled his eyes & took my plate. Last but NOT least we asked him to split our checks but he said we couldn’t…which when we first came into the restaurant we asked & he said we could. Poor poor poor customer service! Will NOT be coming back. Because it’s not worth their money or their night. It completely ruined it for us!

We gave this place another try, so here is the good news: Gino the bartender makes a great Long Island Ice Tea. Beer is always cold! I had one and if I had another I wouldn’t been able to drive home. The music was great as usual! Chad Pule and Brother Butch. Chad has a great voice and plays classic guitar! Now the bad news: It has to be the worst Mexican food I have eaten. We played it safe and ordered the Nachos with chicken. It was tough finding the chicken on the plate of nachos. The nachos were lukewarm and had Nacho Cheese sauce(like the kind you get at Little League Snack bars), drizzled throughout the plate. Wow, I thought I was at a restaurant, not the ballpark. I can’t believe this place has been open 10 years! Go for the music and the drinks, not the food! Everyone in the bar were friendly, locals and non locals!

I was in Hawaii for my brothers wedding and made it in to this place twice. Both times it was incredible first time had the fish tacos which were the best I’ve ever had, next time I had an assorted mix and they all were awesome. Cool place, nice people.

I love this place and I was so disappointed worst service ever. They scolded my daughter for sitting down without permission. Our food took forever, our orders were wrong. The manager defended himself by saying there was only one cook. He also said eventually every restaurant will be bad.

This place is so exspensive, and the food is mediocre. There is no taste or flavor like for my taco salad I couldn’t even finish it… What also annoyed me was when we asked for a refill on chips(being there was little chips and a whole lot of salsa) they charged for that as well! Entertainment is SOLOUD. They have drum set going in the restaurant and the sound doesn’t travel. Never coming here again

This place doesn’t deserve one star but you can’t leave a review without putting something down. To be fair, they told us there was only one cook, and it was a Friday night, however 1 ½ hours wait for food, small portions, food was dry, just ok. People who came in ½ hour after us were served 20 min before us. Doesn’t the manager/owner know how to cook something. It’s totally bad management… Margaritas were weak, not real tasty. Complaints went unanswered, management didn’t seem to care. Not even an offer to take something off the bill which we suggested would make things right with us. They said that it was too late. We usually Unilocal restaurants before we go in so I guess it’s partially our fault because if we had read some of the Unilocal reviews, we certainly wouldn’t have gone there. Still, there’s no excuse.

Sad to say, as this place used to be my favorite Mexican food on the island, but today will be my last time spending my money here. I have been coming here when going to the west side to surf for the last few years. Ownership looks like it changed from other reviews I just read this evening, and that makes sense. The place has gone downhill since the change. Before, free chips and salsa was the norm, no longer. Before, I was never pressured into buying alcohol. Since I don’t drink very often, no, is a very simple answer when the owner asks if I want a beer or margarita with my «California Fries.»(Carne asada) He responded with what may to him have been a joke: «Water and your food don’t go together, you should have a beer or margarita.» Ummm, no. As a grown man, I appreciate the fact I can say no and not give an explanation. Being the nice guy I am, I explained I was going to surf after and don’t want to have intoxicants in my body when I get in the water. I understand that places that serve alcohol make the most profit on it vs the food, but if I say no, don’t pull a used car salesman pressure move on me bud, that was almost enough to lose my business. I didn’t even look at the menu as I knew what I wanted when I came in. Dealing with past experiences of not being sat, or not being addressed by the staff, I made it a point to attempt to order up front, and the guy who I think is the owner sat me. When I got my fries, I noticed they have changed to a cheap froze variety. Everything on the plate looked cheap. The stand out was the steak, guac and pico. The fries, cheeses and nacho cheeses looked to be as cheap as could be bought. Also, the portion shrunk about 10−20% from the last time I had them a few months back. When I got my check, I didn’t realize they raised the price of the fries 30% since they were first introduced. That’s more my fault for not checking the menu. After a 25% tip,(don’t eat out if you don’t tip well) my bill was 18! 18?! For carne asada fries? I felt very taken advantage of, but again, my bad for not checking. Overall I give two stars instead of one as I do like most of what I have tried there, but I won’t be going back.

Since Alyson and Eric have left this place has gone down hill. New waitress is obviously being forced to work their as she doesn’t like being a waitress at all — we used to go here all the time, sadly no more. The latest waitress, totally ignored us the first time, she was too busy flirting with the young guys sat at the bar — went I eventually went over to her, she obviously was not impressed I interrupted her social life, and was rather rude through out the entire service. Recently I had a small complaint about the food — unfortunately she was our waitress again, although was working on this occasion as the boss was also working– so I mentioned my problem with my food(food just warm, needed to be heated) she had instant attitude ! Instead of fixing it, she reverts to Spanish and talks to the boss with full gestures right across our table ! Hoping we don’t speak their language ! Which we don’t !!! But it was pretty obvious she was not complimenting me on my new top !(; They both finished and I sat there not knowing what had been said. My plate was taken. After about 5 minutes I went to see where my food was and I complained about her — quietly to management My food comes back and just as I am about to start eating, she then marched back to my table and started at me ! In English so I really knew she was not happy I complained about her ! Wow. Just wow ! Hmmmmmm not her best skill — being a waitress. Service goes s long way to me, when I spend my hard earned cash on a meal, is it too much to just have polite staff ? Alyson and Eric COMEBACK !!! That is the ONLY way I would ever step back in there. That said prices had been increasing, portions getting much smaller, so honestly it’s no great loss to not go back. We have some great restaurants out this way now !

Extremely rude service. First walked in seeing it was very empty. Apparently, I walked in the bar side and was told to go through this corridor to be in the dining area. I was not directed so I sat in one of the tables in the«bar area». I saw the servers direct another couple to the dining area and was given menus. We were not given menus and was just ignored the time we were there. 15 minutes passed without us being helped or asked if we needed assistance, so we simply left. If you guys want business, work on serving EVERYONE. Word of mouth spreads around quickly.

If I could give 0 stars, I would sadly have to. I used to be a server, and at some bad restaurants, and I’ve never really experienced a situation like this. A blonde pansy of a waiter with a pony tail(who obviously has compromising pictures of the owner) wanted to make our night as bad as possible. He was mad we even came, and he made that known right off the bat when we ordered our drinks. We never received chips and salsa until our food was half eaten. He insulted our party openly because we didn’t order alcohol off the bat. When we asked about splitting checks, his comment was«bring cash, it works great around here. If you can come out together you can pay together!» I was blown away at the lack of respect this punk waiter has for his place of business. My advice to the owner is to fire this guy before he brings your place down. He doesn’t care if you go broke. I would say his name on here but he never cared to introduce himself. And apart from insulting customers, he is a really bad waiter. He completely forgot the one child at our tables order until we were done eating. This doesn’t even cover the fact the food was poor, and obviously it took a long time to get food. Two high notes: the supervisor was trying, but seemed like he was worn out. Second, the fish in the fish tacos was cooked well. The place has potential but just makes me sad that it won’t reach it.

Very surprising dive-looking place. I thought it was just a tiny taco shack; found out it’s a very large restaurant with good food! Had lunch there yesterday after snorkeling at Cabanas. We split an order of beef nachos and a side of refries. My two complaints: — No free chips and salsa. That’s kinda a must for any sit down Mexican place — Not the restaurant’s fault, but one group of football watchers were super annoying. Yes, I know this is America and most people like football. Whatever… go watch at a true sports bar. But, yeah, all the TVs were showing football so I know we had to deal with the annoying fans. Lesson learned is don’t go on Sunday afternoon so there won’t be any football on TV :-). For me, after spending 13 years in Europe, American football is like baseball. A waste of time. But I digress… Good food and attentive service. I’m glad to have found another good Mexican place and another good westside restaurant. I dunno why tourists complain about a lack of restos on the westside. We’ve had nothing but great meals in our year here. We’ll definitely come back to Tacos and More.

I knew it was a bad sign when we walked into a nearly empty restaurant. The overly tacky décor didn’t help either. My hubby, kids, and I were seated and asked if we wanted drinks. I thought we’d receive chips and salsa right away, as most restaurants do, but that came maybe 20 minutes later, after the drinks had arrived. The server was a little pushy when it came to the drinks, trying to persuade us to get an alcoholic beverage. We overheard him giving another table the same spiel towards the end of our meal, making one lady feel uncomfortable enough to get the drink he suggested after she had already refused. The chips and pico de gallo were good, but way too small of a portion for four people! I could tell the chips were house made. My margarita was served in a tall glass, and very tasty, but I don’t think there was that much alcohol inside, if at all… For $ 10, it felt like a ripoff!!! My hubby enjoyed his corona with lime, though. As for the keiki plates, my son’s quesadilla could’ve used some salsa, but he enjoyed it. It came with only three pieces though, kinda small if you ask me. My other son got the tacos, but he didn’t like the taste of them. I tried it and something just wasn’t right. The ground beef tasted kind of strange. So my boys shared the quesadilla plate. My husband’s chimichanga plate was decent. The tortilla was homemade, which is great, but not crispy enough. He ate most of it and said he liked it, however. I ordered an enchilada plate, with chicken and spicy red sauce. What I received was three tortillas folded in half and covered in this thick, dry red sauce. It wasn’t really that spicy, and the sauce just had a strange taste, making me wonder how fresh it was. I ate mostly rice and beans, and picked on the enchilada before calling it quits. When we took the check up(it wasn’t taken from the table promptly) I overheard the server/owner? telling my husband that he «must have plenty of money in the bank.» I don’t know why the man said that, but the comment was just unnecessary! With that, I felt that I wasted«plenty money» at this establishment– almost $ 60 for sub-par food and atmosphere. We won’t be returning, unfortunately.

The waiter was so funny and nice. The food and drinks were delicious and affordable. I had plenty of fajitas left over for lunch the next day. The homemade salsa was especially memorable.

Of all the years that Tacos and More has been open… I have only been there just recently. The restaurant is open for lunch and for dinner. It is best to be at the restaurant before they close at 8:30pm. At first when you approach the entrance you’ll see a small dining area as well as the kitchen. This section you are able to order your food for take out or to eat at one of the booths provided. Twice I came to the restaurant and ordered the 3 tacos with different meat fillings for take out. Chicken ranchero, cornitas(pork), shredded beef or ground beef. First time I had the soft tacos and on my second take out order i had the hard shell. Follow the hallway and you’ll see another door that would lead you to a bigger dining area. The bigger dining area is divided into three sections. One section has a small full bar with the television screen and karaōke system setup. The middle section has the high tables and high chairs where you could watch the television from one of the tables plus there is a water fountain. The third section is for the larger groups. On one of my visits to the restaurant I decided to dine in after having worked a morning shift at my current workplace. I came for a late lunch. Javier the owner/host/bartender greeted me and told me to sit where ever I felt comfortable. It took a while for me to decide what I wanted to eat for my late lunch. I was debating on whether to try the enchiladas, the stuffed burrito, or the chimichangas. I ended up ordering a shredded beef burrito with rice filling(you could also have your burrito stuffed with beans). The shredded beef was a bit on the dry side for me. I had to drench it with some mild taco sauce to give it some extra flavor. I also ordered a mango margarita to drink… it came in a tall glass. While I was having my meal I was watching the television screen and it played music videos from Adam Lambert then to a country singer(can’t remember his name) to Alejandro(don’t know his last name). From what I found out… on Thursday nights there is wine tasting and wine education. Something to check out for individuals like myself who have never had wine before. BTW…the restaurant passed the health inspection. Individuals get a stamp on their PEPECARD for every purchase of $ 10.95 or more and once the card is filled the person may redeem the card for a free meal.
