Cotton Patch Cafe

I ordered fried green tomatoes, grilled pork chops, loaded baked potato, and the house salad.
The fried green tomatoes weren’t nasty; but, they lacked the bite of FGT, they were cut too thick, and the breading is too thick to be cooked through all the way. At $ 7.99 the FGT isn’t something I would order again, but it’s a reasonable price for this appetizer.
My main course, on the other hand, was a rip off. The salad was a decent-​sized salad. At smaller than the size of my palm, the baked potato was dry, not warm, and had no flavor. The pork chops were the biggest let down. The only thing salvageable about them was that they had decent flavor. But, the were cut very thin and were not prepared properly, so I had to pick pieces of bone meal out of my chop. This entrée was a whopping $ 12.99. For the portion size, the price should’ve been cut to $ 8.99.
I’m giving Cotton Patch 3 stars because the waitor was attentive and my food has not always been horrible at this restaurant.

First time the food was ever bad. Ordered catfish the fish was hot and fresh. The French fries were raw limp very undercooked the hushpuppy’s were two marbles and the Mack and cheese was cold. Manager came over and asked if I wanted another side I told him no that I would just like a discount so he gave me a big one dollar discount. Basically I paid $ 9.00 for three small pieces of catfish.

Stopped by the Cotton Patch Café today for lunch. It’s been a while, so was looking forward to my meal.
My server, Daylen, was fairly punctual, stopping by within 3 – 4 minutes to take my drink order and followed up with my meal order. I ordered the «One Fork Pot Roast» with sautéed mushrooms and macaroni and cheese.
To make a long story short, mac and cheese great. Mushrooms okay. Pot Roast, awful. Crusty on the outside, stringy on the inside. The potatoes were fried (or baked) separate from the pot roast, and the whole thing slathered in a nondescript brown gravy.
Another sever dropped off my order, and Daylen followed up in less than a minute, asking if everything was okay. To be honest, I didn’t know by then. When she finally followed up, twenty minutes later, I told her the pot roast was awful. Though she offered to replace it with something else, I was out of time for lunch and declined the offer. So she apologized and gave me my check.
My review is based on the fact that the food was so bad, but there was no discussion, whatsoever, to comp a meal with which I was clearly dissatisfied. I paid $ 13+ dollars for a small bowl of mac and cheese, a third of a bowl of mushrooms, a roll, and a Coke.
Will not be back. i

I went to this location yesterday evening with my mom and grandmother. The food was descent. My mom went ahead and paid when the check arrived. After she received the receipt back after her card had been charged she noticed that the check which was over $ 62 seemed way to high for 3 people who got the «right size portions». We ordered 2 Teas, 1 water, 2 small CFS and 1 small CFC. The receipt said my mom was charged for all that plus and extra tea, a diet coke, extra side of veggies, and a whole other meal that was $ 15. We requested to speak with a manager. While my mom was speaking with him our waitress named Stephanie was watching and asked other servers to walk by and see what my mom and the manager were talking about. Making us think that the servers were in on the over charging. The manager named Christine walked to the back to fix the check. Stephanie came out and said that she needed my moms credit card again. The manager finally came back saying he ran my moms card again for $ 32. (having worked in a restaurant before a manager will normally refund the full order for a major mistake like that) My mom she felt like she shouldnt have to pay since our waitress tried to over charge us. He didnt listen to her all he said was «Is there anything else i can do?» My mom then had to ask for his name 3 times before he finally gave it to her. He also didnt give her the original receipt back for the $ 62. I will be contacting corporate office tomorrow to speak to them about it.

i will not be back to any Cotton Patch after this experince. And i will make sure to spread the word.

Every time we go the service is either great or horrible. Last night we went and saw 3 tables seated after us get your drinks and bread and we were still waiting for our server. When someone finally came to our table she had a bad attitude so asked for the manager. When he finally came over told us our server could not be found. I was already upset because after seeing the other 3 tables having been taken care of, and we are still waiting. So tired of when we go in one time great next super sorry. I have been to the one in Georgetown and always getting great service and the manager is always coming around to check. After this I will NEVER go back the one in Waco!!!

I eat here about every other week and the last two times have been just awful. The first time was a train wreck and the manager gave me a coupon for a free dinner for two (a $ 30 value so who can complain). The second time the food was correct at least. But when they say your Togo order will be ready in 15 – 20 minutes, it will be AT LEAST 30 – 40 minutes (the first time I had to wait an hour for two sandwiches…). Like somebody else previously stated, I would recommend going to temple to eat at cotton patch.

Menu says they have pie. They do not have pie. Have not since the summer. Be warned. No pie. :(

Went to cotton patch with my wife for a simple meal and we were not impressed at all. Our server was nice but not very professional. The food was way overly greasy and salty (not in the fun junk food way, but just gross) and we both left feeling terrible and bloated. Probably not going back.

This was our second trip to Cotton Patch, and everything lived up to my previous five-​star review.
The menu offers more than the usual burger/​taco/​chicken fried steak which is a welcome relief in Central Texas.
Our waitress Tristan was very good, although she admitted this was her first week on the job and she was still learning. She must be a quick learner because she was attentive without hovering, brought our drinks and lunches out quickly, and was friendly without making you feel smothered.
Cotton Patch is a favorite lunch spot, and I am picky about restaurants.

Some friends & I were doing some genealogy research at the near by Waco library and we were hungry! I had the tex-​mex salad which was good and my friends enjoyed their meals.
The menu was good, but not that much different from similar chains.
Must say the Sydni was a great server and made our good meal even better.

The service was ok.
They give you rolls and butter to start out with.
I got the Chicken Fried Steak with fries and Mac n cheese. The fries here are very well seasoned! The CFS is HUGE and I was bloated before even eating ½ of it! Well worth the money!

Boy do we live this place, this evening we got a very sweet Server named Mo, she is So cool, sweet, funny, great memory, awesome all the way around. I will ask for her again.

My family and I have eaten at this location several times over the last many years, typically with OK service and above average food quality. However, in the last year or so this has dramatically changed, especially with their To-​Go service. The last three orders we have placed with this location have been wrong, (to the point of being inedible) or were never completed.
A few weeks ago I placed a to go order in store. The ticket receipt said that the order was placed at 12:01pm. I ordered one order of Fried Green tomatoes and two bowls of baked potato soup with cornbread. I asked about the order at 12:30, the woman said she’d check on it and let me know. At 12:45 I asked for a manager and told him that I would like the ordered canceled and my credit card to be refunded. The woman that was checking on my order still had not returned.
It took him over ten minutes to refund the money, (He was having trouble with the register) and finally he just gave me cash back.
There was no effort on his part to apologize, and I was told that I should have contacted him earlier if there was a problem.

Ate there today as we were passing through Waco coming home from Dallas. Got our food in about 7 minutes which tells me it’s not cooked fresh, just heated up. Fries and shrimp both cold. Wife got the turkey dinner which she enjoyed. Good service and nice atmosphere. Big menu. Probably be a no return though.

Dropped in for carryout while getting a tire fixed next door.
Got fish and chips from a very full menu and the food was pretty good.

they have great Southern food. I had the chicken avocado burger and it was too much food for one person. substitute the regular fries with the sweet potato fries’s they are delicious.

We stopped in here because the one in temple is amazing!!! Well to our surprise this was nothing like it!!! Waiter was VERY nice but they had him also working all the way across the restaurant with a large table and one manager was nice but what seemed to be the Owners were not nice or friendly AT ALL!!! Thier all you can eat CATFISH was china slum!!! Gross!!! So we decided to get burger cause those are hard to mess up but Burgers were not good! If you want cotton patch take the short drive to temple!!!

I love their steaks. After a workout I will call in my order with some healthy veggies and it is ready in 15 mins. Staff is always friendly and food is good. My daughter like the blue cheese wedge salad. Brian Wenzel State Farm Agent Waco

Service was excellent! Chicken fried steak was delicious as usual. I love their batter fried shrooms for an appetizer! The half order, even shared by two is plentiful – especially when you know you’ll be getting a huge plate of food for an entre’! The fried okra was a bit cold but the server happily and quickly brought a new hot serving.

We like it here, the food is always good and the service almost always is, too.
