Denny’s

The service has always been top notched. Food is very tasty and served hot. The waitress was helpful and attentive. Very impressed w/​the cook on night, he take pride in his field. The «Santa Fe Skillet» is delicious.

Spent the night in West Sacramento with my family and this Denny’s gets pretty busy at night which is understandable. They do try to please and make the customer orders correct, so that is effort… lol. I give them a 4 because even though my food was late and they didn’t have what I actually ordered, they replaced it instead. What I was a little grossed out about is I did find a small particle that was not part of the ingredient. A tiny strand of short black hair was on my breakfast sandwich. Ughh. anyway, I ate the sandwich that did not have the hair ingredient LOL.

It was 9:15… My child was ready for a late dinner. I tried to call in an order… A rude lady told me THEY DO NOT ACCEPT TO GO ORDERS AFTER 9… Ok fine. So I walked over there and ordered… I was told 10 min. In actuality it was closer to 25 minutes. I told them the inability to call an order in was really inconvenient… The manager said they lost too much money from people not picking up their orders… So the consequence of that lands on me instead of Dennys. Then after walking to the counter to make sure my order wasn’t sitting under the heat lamp I was informed the long wait was because they only had one cook… Again the consequence lands on me. Dennys it is not my fault you do not have a more efficiently run business. Whoever the manager is here needs to work on hiring more people and also encourage the employees to be more friendly. I was frustrated by a crappy experience and no one was there to care or do anything about it. So in turn here is a one star review. This place is terrible on multiple levels.

Bad service. Waited over 45 min for my food. This is what I get for coming here… Waitress sucks!!! Manager say we were not welcome here after we complain that we found a hair on my plate… Are serious!!! I would never come back ever again… Be aware… Don’t come eat here if you want hair on your foods…

Service is Awesome. …seated quickly nice and soft spoken manager helping seat people. …coffee hot and not too strong, food came hot– skillets sizzling and very good! Our server Christina was very nice, smiled alot and her customer service skills was like a breath of fresh air! Our experiences with Dennys in other location wavered but at this location tops them all!!! Something is being done right here…

Stopped in for a carryout order around 7:45am so they were pretty slow. I was greeted quickly and even though the phone kept ringing the cashier gave me her full attention whenever I needed it. My order was ready in about 10 minutes and was delicious. I will definitely come back to this location.

This place has the worst service I have seen in years. 35 mins waiting to order desert, then I just got up and asked for my bill that the register and told them about the issues. The reply I got was something about the cashier having to leave for a different job. What the heck??? Made no sense to me.
And the food was just downright crap.
Stay away if you like slow service and crappy food.

Everyone here is really nice, and the food is good. Haven’t had one waitress or hostess who wasn’t smiling and being courteous. The last hostess that seated us is also a waitress and she is both a good hostess and waitress! But the waitress who brought us our food (I think her name was Michelle) the last visit was awesome! Wish I could remember all their names to give them all credit. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because we’ve had to ask on many occasions for something that was forgotten, but it was always during times when they were real busy. I’ll keep going back! Oh, and I get to use my AARP card too! ;-)

I ordered take out for the first time. It wasn’t busy but I waited almost an hour for my food. When I got my food I went home and opened the box. I had burnt toast, my scrambled eggs with cheese wasn’t scrambled it was like a sausage patty. It looked like McDonald’s eggs. They literally gave me a strip of bacon as small as my finger. My whole breakfast looked rushed and I waited almost an hour. I usually get full off of their food but today no. And plus MY FOOD WAS COLD!!! It’s like it was sitting for a while before they gave it too me. Do not order take out from this location it’s a waste of your money.

I am thoroughly disappointed in this place. When you walk in it smells like old mop water. My food was subpar to say the least. I had the ultimate omelet with red potatoes and let’s just say that there were not even close to red potatoes but rather pre cut frozen russett potatoes. The omelet was meh and had almost 0 protein (meat) in it. My english muffinwas so over toasted that even with the unmelted butter on it i could not eat it because it was hard. My 96 yr old grandpa had country fried steak with the same potatoes and his steak was a frozen patty that they over fried and always so hard he could barely chew it. The gravy they use is obviously canned with mo flavor and is so watery it’s gross. Now for the service… well the waitress Carissa was less than pleasant and when I asked for more gravy for him she acted like I was putting her out to get it. I never was asked about a refill on my 3.00 soda until she came back to remove the dishes from the table and we were ready to leave. I asked for more STRAWBERRY jelly and she went to the table across the walkway and just gave us the jelly container off that table. I will not go back ever! Sad I used to like Dennys.

This is a busy restaurant but I love it! The prices are great, the staff is sweet and attentive, the manager’s a riot. It’s all smiles coming here.

Great teamwork of the hostess and the waitress. We were in a rush, walked in at 8:10pm, were out by 8:35pm. Two milkshakes, two skillets and a quesadilla. All tasted good! Fast and efficient service.

I have been to numerous Denny’s in the Sacramento area and this location is by far the best. Finished my morning at IKEA and looked for an eatery so I drove towards the freeway to find this Denny’s right by the freeway. Environment is very clean, tables and atmosphere actually feels really cozy, does not feel like a 24 hour dine-​in. Their pancakes looked fresh on the plate and very fluffy. I took out a star for service, associates were not prompt and not very attentive to detail as well as less friendly. I’ll definitely stop by here again once I am in the West Sacramento area.

Always great service! The food here is always made right as ordered. Typical Denny’s food, nothing out of ordinary. The service always brings me back! Christine, you are awesome! Been my waitress every time! And to the manager Rick, you always bring a smile to my face when I come in when you are the hostess/​cashier :))

Contrary to Star K’s review below, I am a late night diner, and I am not a negative Nancy. My roommate and I frequent this Denny’s on Sunday nights, and it is what we expect. However, we always have the same waiter (I think his name is Michael, not sure), and he is always upbeat and accomodating, and patient as well.
For instance, if I ask for a substitution or something similar, he is always accomodating. Typical Denny’s in terms of food, but the service at night is pretty good.

I have eaten here twice and have received very good service. The food is tasty and it arrived in a very timely manner. The location is very difficult to find, from Harbor
Ave… turn on Beacon Avenue and take the first right, two hotels are located on the left side of the road. A great place to go in the middle of the night, not to busy, not to pricey. With the very limited good restrauants in West Sacramento, I am glad we have another choice in the area.

You might notice that all the negative reviews for this place are from late-​night diners. Having served late-​night diners, I can guarantee you the Negative Nancies are so negative because 1) drunk people get indignant at the slightest inconvenience; 2) drunk people don’t realize how annoying they are; and 3) drunk people who have just been clubbing all night expect servers to have a sixth sense that they’re about to walk in the door with a big group wanting food and expecting it right away.
For us sober diners who frequent this place during daylight hours, the service and food is as top-​notch as any Denny’s can get. I’m typically in the neighborhood for work around their peak hours, 6−8am. They’re always super friendly and fast. This is no-​nonsense service: they take your order, give you refills, and get you in and out of there quickly.
Frankly, the negative reviews are from drunk club-​goers and anyone coming here for regular dining will be pleased.
Note: Parking is ample but not accessible from Harbor Blvd. You have to turn onto a side street that takes you to a road behind the Denny’s where parking is accessible.

Yikes! Talk about a let down.
I’ve been to this particular location a few times, but the most recent visit was completely horrible. We came around 2am and could already tell that service was going to suck. We picked this location since we knew it wouldn’t be as crowded as the one downtown since we all just left the bars.
There were open tables in the main dining room, but a lady in regular clothes (we thought to be management) told us after making us wait 10 minutes that it would be a 30 minute wait. Umm… ok? We waited around and watched her help run food out to tables. Guess she didn’t staff properly for a Saturday early morning after last call.
We realized that she was waiting for a longer table to open up (there were 6 of us), so we had to flag her down to let her know we’d take the two booths that were next to each other in the smaller section to the right. She gave us a look and asked with a tone «Are you sure?» and even after we said that it was fine, she responded with, «OK, if that’s what you want.» I thought we were making it easier on her so she didn’t have to worry about waiting for a longer table for our group?
Our server was nice, but a bit slow. Food was good after a long night out.
When we went to pay, our server didn’t quite grasp the «I got it» concept. A person in our group was just… Gone. ;) he didn’t want to wait inside for his turn to pay anymore and stumbled outside until he could. Our server turned to the manager type lady and was trying to whisper to her that «the guy is trying to leave and hasn’t paid yet. That guy right there.» um, I think it’d be dumb for anyone to let their friend to try and dine and ditch as they’re standing there paying, not to mention we all rode together, right? I told him that I would pay for his ticket, that I would get him, but he was too busy trying to convince the lady to go after him. It wasn’t until I raised my voice after not being heard the first 3 times that I would pay for his check, that he finally paid attention and the light bulb kicked on because he finally said, «oh, OK you got him.» I told him that even if I didn’t pay for him, we would’ve brought him back inside to pay…
Anyway, while this location isn’t anywhere near as packed as the one downtown after a night of drinking, service sucks. You’ve been warned.

It is a convenient place for me to meet up with friends for a quick bite, since it’s a middle ground for us, but I can honestly say, not my favorite.
The last time I was here a few weeks ago, I ordered the «Build Your Own Burger». I asked for a turkey pattie, on whole wheat bun, no cheese, add bacon and avocado. What I got was a Cali Jack burger, which comes with cheese and avocado, no bacon. At that point, I was starving since the wait for the food took a while also. When the bill came, I was charged for the bacon of course. Another time before that, the waiter took forever as well.

This is a new location, and it’s a lot better than the old West Sac Denny’s. It’s more spacious, and they have TV’s!
The food here is as good as any Denny’s I’ve eaten at; nothing remarkable in that regard.
The waiters/​waitresses are the true gems here! They work really hard, so show some love!
