I don’t know much about the place, since the response to my call inquiring about seating availability was«I couldn’t really say». Really? Then why are you the one answering the phone? Poor business. Not interested in my greenbacks.

Never eaten here, but a frequent visitor when in town for business with our work group. Great place for live music and drinks. The outdoor bar is a great place to relax and enjoy a good evening!

The Crab cakes I ordered were fresh and delicious! The indoor wood burning fireplace is a plus in a cold winter evening.

Not sure of the bad reviews. I was there off season but during a Redskins playoff game so it was busy in the bar. Service was ok. Solid drinks. The food — angus burger — was excellent. Reasonably priced too. Had a Jameson’s for $ 6 and the burger with fries was only $ 8!

Abysmal. To begin with, corn beef and cabbage is not a tough slab of beef on top of coleslaw with hard carrot slices. An Irish stew should be served hot, not lukewarm. Soda bread should not be stale. Essentially, the best aspect of our meal was leaving it behind.

Not a bad place and the drink specials are pretty decent. The Apps do not seem homeade at all but I will overlook that. The Beer selection is pretty decent along with having Bold Rock on tap which was a pleasant surprise for me.

Fish tacos for $ 2 on Thursdays. Pretty good. Not the best but not the worst. Good drink specials. Lots of beers to choose from. Only beer, cider, and Irish whiskey specials for happy hr. Disappointing for those who don’t drink those. Cute, established restaurant. Like the fireside dining.

We love Murphy’s even in the summertime you can sit on the deck, have a drink, smoke and have great food and watch the tourists. The traditional Irish fare is great but all the food is really good. Try the tuna bites! They’re also our local New England Patriots bar!

Comfort food and fun atmosphere. Upon walking in, noticed a nice fire going. Asked to be seated near it and was comfortably enjoying the warmth in no time! The crowd was light(off time Sunday evening in November). Games on multiple screens provided a nice background buzz. The food was very good, from the flounder to the Reuben we ordered. Nothing to rave about but definitely good for the price. Kids meals were decent portion sizes for them. Service was good and kept things moving along without feeling rushed. Murphy’s has an outdoor area that looked very nice. We didn’t try that area but I plan to try it next time!

I’ll begin by saying I had no idea what to expect when I walked into Murphy’s. Walking up I could hear a band on the front porch and quite a lively crowd outside. The outward appearance of the place left me wondering what I might find inside. Walking inside I noticed a live fireplace in the center of the restaurant with a rolling fire going full steam. Very nice ambiance to find for someone of Irish descent, in addition to a multitude of unique items throughout the place. To the left is the bar, and being solo, I approached and was promptly greeted by a lovely bartender. Of course I ordered a Guinness… would be a sin not to in an Irish pub named Murphy’s. After perusing the menu for a few minutes, I decided to give the oysters a try. They took just long enough for me to almost finish my first Guinness. Yay. When they were presented to me, I was impressed at how many were on the plate with the cottage fries and slaw. The oysters… well, it was love at first bite. They were obviously fresh and battered with an amazing recipe. The horseradish was another great compliment. I consider myself an oyster connoisseur having first had a raw oyster at the age of 5 and loved them since. They were the best I have had in years, and in the tops ever for fried oysters. If you’re in Virginia Beach, Murphy’s is a must. If you find yourself at the bar, be sure to say hello to A.P. and ask her to pour you a Guinness(she does it the RIGHTWAY!!!)

Nice place to grab a beer and some fried oysters. Especially if you want to get away from the bars with younger rowdy crowds. Nice bar. Good for families. Sometimes have live music. However the fresh oysters here are very expensive, for half a dozen is 12 dollars. Also the nachos here are terrible. But it has a good spot near the ocean. Free Parking available. Nice staff. Overall, not a bad place.

Loved this! It’s an Irish Pub through and through. The atmosphere is fun and, well, exactly what am Irish Pub should be! There is ample room for seating and we were quickly welcomed, seated and our drink orders were taken. The fish and chips are amazing. Two plentiful size filets in a homemade beer batter that could only be improved with a fresh drizzle of malt vinegar. This was no frozen filet from a box and it showed. The cottage fries are in a league of their own and even the cole slaw was freshly made The Reuben was fantastic! Large portion of freshly corned beef smothered with provolone and all the things that make it a Reuben! This is probably a new favorite that we will go out of our way to visit again!

Pleasantly surprised when we walked in the place, great pub grub, and our waitress a gem :) They even have ‘healthy’ options on the menu which is nice.

Stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday and they had half price burgers! Unfortunately, my burger was burnt. Let down. I don’t believe in sending my food back, so I just ate all the«good» parts, eh. Fries were mediocre that looked far tasty than they actually were. Food was warm. We also ordered wings which were«fresh» and hot, but a little salty. But those get 3.5 stars, I guess. We didn’t get a chance to come in the evening, but maybe food, drinks, service and atmosphere are better then.

Boring burger but an authentic new England pub. The fish and chips were delicious. They don’t have everything listed on the menu so don’t get your hopes up. The pasta was a pleasant surprise. This place gets busy quickly and there’s always a line at the door when there’s a plenty of open tables. They have a awesome beer selection. The waitress was courtesy and was able to divide our check for us.

Not a great experience here yesterday. I came with two of my friends who had recently been to the Alexandria location and remembered having a good time. Because my friend had just finished running an ultramarathon we thought this would be an appropriate place to celebrate(not to mention we were starved and it was close). It wasn’t crowded at all at around 1 on a Saturday, which isn’t surprisingly considering it’s the«off-season.» The hostess seated us by the fireplace and a friendly server quickly came by to take out drink orders; off to a good start. Both friends wanted a Shock Top, which they were told was only available by the bottle. I had a bloody mary. The server brought out the wrong beer and we later saw that they do in fact have Shock Top on tap. The Bloody Mary was way watered down. It was cold out and Irish stew sounded like it would hit the spot. It didn’t. The portion was small, it was very bland and the vegetables were super mushy. It was, however, served with some really awesome bread(but still…). My friend was equally unimpressed with her Irish Pie, which was also on the bland side. The other friend had the turkey blt wrap, which he said was pretty good. The cottage fries were really good– I wish I had ordered these. I expect an Irish pub to excel in Irish dishes. I also expect the server to be on top of the beer menu, particularly those that are available on tap.

Didn’t know much about this place coming in so wasn’t expecting much. Boy, I was missing out! The atmosphere is amazing — if you’re into the pub setting. Huge fireplace in the center of the restaurant, and I was lucky enough to go when they had it on. The yummy fire smell was all over the room. Great place to watch any game and any sport, but I must warn you, this is a Patriots bar. So if you don’t like them, don’t watch your football over there! Drinks were delicious! I chose the drunken Irishman and if you’re into sweet drinks, that’s the one! It tastes just like peach rings — grown up version! Sooo good! Food was really good too, but since I didn’t really go for the food as much as the experience I didn’t focus too much on it. The staff was also super smiley, happy and helpful! Definitely going back!

Aside from charging my credit card twice, twice. I totally dig this spot, ESPECIALLY for $ 9 Sunday Mimosa brunch. The breakfast selection isn’t the greatest or biggest and the food isn’t the fanciest, but its certainly delicious and you cannot beat .50 mimosas. It is also a PUB for shit sake, so dont walk in expecting a fine dining experience. The place is huge. The waitresses are super cool and attentive. I brought both of my children in here this past weekend and no one made me feel like a floozy for taking them into predominately bar environment. In fact, they were so gracious to them, constantly making sure they were just as happy as we were. I really love Murphy’s. I love the vibe and the price is right, and the beach is steps away.
