Wow! Found this little gem in a residential area off the crowded beaten tourist path. We had the blackened pork chops and ribeye. both tender juicy and so flavorful! The Lima beans, mashed potatoes and broccoli with hollandaise were perfect sides. A quaint historic old ice house with lovely music for dining. The real frosting was the the owner and all of the staff… so kind, fun and pleasant! They take the time to know their customers and offer local suggestions. We HIGHLY recommend this jewel!

We were at a nearby brewery when we decided to try this place on a weeknight. It was too chilly to sit outside so we were seated in the dining area. Next to the dining room is the bar, they have a door that separates the two but it is still noisy. Behind the dining room, is the outdoor seating area which is attached to the bar and is a smoking area. You can smell that stale cigarette smell in the dining area, not a fan of this. My husband ordered the fish and chips basket, it was a very generous portion and good. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. Their crab cake has a lot of bell peppers in it which I did not care for too much. The fries were fresh and crispy. We would come back, possibly for one of the specials nights like the prime rib that everyone raves about. This is a nice little local spot with that feeling. It is welcoming and the prices are reasonable. I’m hoping the stale cigarette smell will be less noticeable when they are busier.

Ice House was our first date last Thanksgiving evening(nothing else was open) and we are so glad it was. We now regularly go and sit on the patio. The food is great and we get to bring our dog! They are always so nice to her! It will be our go to for years to come.

What is not to like about the Icehouse? Sadly… PLENTY. I heard from a friend and past patron that I should check this place out. He said the atmosphere was great and it was great to hang out in a 100 year old place. He was right, but he must have just hung out at the bar. I decided to go for dinner. Ugh. The servers were very friendly but painfully slow. The calamari appetizer was just down right awful. I mean it was nothing but a fried mess of burned batter. It could have been sold as hushpuppies or any other item that could be covered in grease. So dry, so overdone, such a travesty to calamari. I mean it was awful. Then came the steamer platter. It is billed as crab legs and steamed shrimp with 2 sides. The shrimp were so very small that after you peeled them they were almost nonexistent. If you liked to dip them in cocktail sauce you were out of luck because the tub delivered with the meal was partially frozen making dipping the salad size shrimp next to impossible. The crab legs were edible but not much better. The broccoli side was good. The Mac N Cheese side was a horrible salty, soupy mess that tasted like dishwater. What a terrible experience. I will not return.

When we arrived, it was clear we found a place away from the tourist traps that caters to locals. They accommodated my family of 8(with two kids under 5) with ease and served us one of the best dinners we’ve had in VA Beach. Each of us tried something different and nobody left disappointed. Don’t settle for the crappy restaurants that line the beach! You’ll have to wait too long for an expensive yet mediocre meal. Take the stroll(or quick drive) away from the strip to this gem — you won’t be disappointed!

What a nice surprise tucked away so close to Virginia Beach. Wonderful local restaurant with excellent food and service. Called ahead because we had seven people in our party and they were ready for us when we arrived. We had gotten burnt on a different restaurant the night before so were leary of trying a lesser advertised place to eat, but were pleased with our experience. We plan on returning on our next trip to Va. Beach!

Went there on Monday for 4.99 burger night. The whole family enjoyed the burgers and fries. The burgers were ½ lb. The service was great and all the workers were friendly. We were also there last year and everything we had was excellent.

Must GOOO! This is an awesome place that has great service and amazing food! I would definitely recommend all of the sandwiches and the apps are great! You must try the Mac and Cheese! The rack of ribs were huge and fell off the bone at a great price! Get the specials of the night because they are normally the freshest, but everything is good!!!

Mediocre at best. Nothing impressive. Service was friendly. Food was disappointing. Prime rib overcooked and rubbery. Rice and beans with kidney beans? Odd.

The place is awesome. Everyone i know has been multiple times and everyone agrees it is a locals hidden gem. Went Friday during a rush w 10 people and the wait staff was more than accommodating. Everything on the menu better than okay; cant make a bad decision for lunch or supper. Prices are wildly reasonable for the beach also.

If you are a fan of french dip I highly recommend you give it a try! It is made from the prime rib they cook for their special. Simply the best in the area!

Looking for good, simple, American cuisine? Here’s your spot. The menu is reasonably priced but still very full and diverse for American food. Start off adventurously with some crispy lumpia and dive into some BBQ or burgers for your main course. Their IPAs are delicious, but they have other beers as well! Bar and restaurant are in separate sections. It doesn’t look like much from the outside(mind you I went on a cold, rainy day), but don’t let that stop you from dropping in on this little gem!

Great Restaurant Week special. Food was fresh, flavorful and great value. Manhattan clam chowder was Ok. But everything else was awesome. We had the seafood pasta with big scallops and shrimp. The short ribs were yummy with Mac n cheese and broccoli. Large portions so we took our desserts to go.

The ribs are melt in your mouth good. The BBQ sauce is a special secret blend. BEST hush puppies I have ever eaten in my entire life. Exterior is nothing to look at but don’t let that fool you. The portions are HUGE, the food is delicious and priced very fair. The interior is rustic and authentic and tells the story of the Icehouse. The staff is hardworking and attentive. This was my first time eating at the Icehouse and I will definitely be back. GREATEATS!

I came in last night to try the place out. When you look at it from the outside, you’d think the place was in disrepair and shouldn’t go in. That is definitely not the case once we got in. This place has been around for over 100 years. This was the first time I came in here, and the place is pretty small. The person at the host area told us we could just pick any table. She would also be our server as well. From the table, we could see she was doing something on the computer for a little while before actually coming to the table(no, it was not playing games, as it had a picture of the restaurant layout). The reason I came in was to try out the restaurant week menu. After coming in and looking at that menu, I found out that many of the items on the restaurant week menu are not on the regular menu. For the appetizer, I had the spinach salad. The salad itself was good, until I saw mushrooms in it. I have an allergy to them, and there was nothing on the menu indicating there were mushrooms in them. The server handled it well. I notified her that I had the allergy at that time, and she brought out some hush puppies instead(which was not on the restaurant week menu). The hush puppies were also good. They weren’t greasy and very soft to eat. I would definitely have the hush puppies again. Stuffed shrimp was the entrée of choice for me. The entrée came with two sides, so I chose the fries and applesauce. The shrimp and crab were cooked perfectly. The crab was all crab. This entrée was delicious. I would have this again if they had it on special. I found out after from the server that the owner will offer different specials throughout the year, including this entrée I had tonight. The fries were also good, and one thing I liked about it was that they were unsalted, so you could limit how much salt went on them. For the dessert, I had the turtle pie, which was creamy and good as well. Overall, this is a good place. I would come back again, but I will be sure to say something about having a mushroom allergy at the very beginning. I do give the server credit, as when she got other tables, she told them right away the spinach salad had mushrooms in it.
