Lynnhaven Inlet Fishing Pier

One of our favorite fishing piers in the Hampton Roads area. They also sell beer their and your allowed to drink on the pier! I think you can bring your own beer too.
We have ways done pretty well fishing there… one time someone caught a huge sea turtle and wish and wildlife had to be called to rescue it. One time fish were biting so fast we were catching three on a line!
They have a store that sells all your fishing & crabbing needs.
There is a small arcade for kids.
The restaurant on the pier is really good too. I recommend the She Crab Soup!

This is probably one of the most peaceful places to be! Everything you need to fish is in the shop. $ 10 provides access and no need for fishing license. You can get a good walk in depending on where you go on the pier. There are a good amount of benches, benches w/​cup holders, a fish cleaning station, & carts for rent.
There was one day over the Summer I caught a bunch of spot but, even on days I don’t catch a thing… I can just sit & take in the sounds of the ocean.
People are friendly and staff more than will to help! Call or friend them on FB to find daily fishing report & tide schedule! Pack a picnic and if it’s sunny, you may want to bring some shade! I saw one couple bring tarp and set up camp! Lol gotta love it!

I loved the pier. Beautiful ambiance, wonderful beach. The pier needs some work, which is why I only gave it a 3 star rating. There were a lot of loose boards on the pier, places where huge nails were sticking up thru the boards that someone could seriously have gotten hurt on. The railing at the end of the pier is extremely loose, my husband could have fallen into the ocean if he’d leaned over too far — yeah, that’s how loose it was. Fix those items, and it would most definitely get a 5 star rating from me. The outdoor restaurant right on the pier is delightful!

This is one of those places you go to when you are bored and want to have a small competitive adventure. It’s smelly, dirty and fun. You have to go in the morning before the sun is too high in the sky and the stink has rising with the humidity. The price has risen to ten bucks instead of the 8 bucks it was last year, that is per person if you are fishing or crabbing. Four bucks if you just want to see what’s biting and to see fish heads steaming on vacated cutting boards and peeps tying chicken guts into their crabbing baskets.
We stop by a Farm Fresh on our way to grab the most disgusting chicken pieces with a mark-​down sticker, usually wings or necks.
We have four crab baskets, two each. It’s simple competition, who pulls up the most crabs. We bring an orange Lowes bucket to drop our bounty into and some heavy twine to tie our chicken parts onto the baskets.
The best part is the people on the pier, all kinds. There are families who have been there since it opened at 4am with wheeled coolers full of crabs. There are couples throwing out their fishing lines not sure if they’d catch anything and people like us, we don’t like these tiny creatures, too much work to eat them, it’s just fun to catch them. One guy was catching them and giving them to the family who was there at 4am. We would have too but they left before we did.
Bored, want an adventure? Go catch some crabs.

Staff is great! I literally will drive 4 hours on a Friday night after work with my husand, just to fish at this pier. This also includes the 2 other major fishing piers we pass on the way down.
Price is reasonable.
It’s a beautiful spot for great sunsets, good variety of fish, and if you call to ask how the catch is going before you make the long drive, the staff is not like all the other piers who tell you they are catching stuff, when they really aren’t. Lynnhaven fishing pier will tell you straight up if they aren’t catching anything. We usually end up going anyways.
Very pleasent, and relaxing experience.
And unlike other piers where it’s a 12 hour pass, theirs is a 24 hour pass.
