Quickie Terriyaki! We always ask for the chicken teriyaki, double meat, well done, extra sauce with veggies and white rice. It’s very important to say well done. If you don’t, the chicken looks too pale. And don’t forget to ask for your free little container of yum yum sauce… so good.

I give this sushi place a solid 3. It’s not the best but it’s not terrible either. Great for those who are craving sushi on a budget. Cheap lunch specials & dinner specials.

Love this place. Sushi is always great and they’re friendly. My daughter likes the little sodas with the marble in them. It’s actually pretty nice inside for such a small place.

I shared the hibachi teriyaki chicken, beef, shrimp, fried rice, miso soup, and vegetable roll and it all cost $ 12. The service was great but the food is terrrrrrrrrible. If you want mall quality Japanese food or a greasy meal for under $ 10 then you have come to the right place. I prefer to eat food at a bit higher grade to prevent getting or feeling sick immediately after eating a third of my meal. The meat was cut so finely and tasted so cheap, I’m so disappointed, but I guess you get what you pay for. Will not be going back):

I go here rather often for my wife. She chooses Flaming Japan as a quick fix for a never ending desire for sushi. Most times she’ll get this if I am getting dinner from another place nearby. The sushi there is pretty decent. They have just a good of selection as some of the sit down restaurants. Not to take away from this place, they too allow you to sit down, but I tend to just go in a take-out capacity. Typically we take advantage of their Dinner Special, which is 3 rolls [18 pieces] and Miso Soup for $ 10.99. Sometimes we’ll order from their«Chef’s Special Roll» where we enjoy the Green Dragon Roll and some other familiar named rolls. All in all it is not Yama, but it does the job when you need your sushi fix. Put it this way, I’d much rather grab sushi here than I would grab a pre-made variety at a grocery store. Essentially at Flaming Japan you do get your money’s worth. Check it out. .. They’re smoking. .. I mean Flaming.

For my first time here, I wasn’t impressed. I was ordering to go so I tried the 3 roll meal for $ 10 based on what other reviewers have gotten. You have to choose the rolls from a short list of variations of tuna, salmon, and cream cheese. I ordered the tuna/avacado, philly, and spicy salmon. Taking into account that it was to go, the sushi looked pretty average and tasted the same. The cashier was nice and brought out the order to me when it was ready. Overall, a good place to go to when you’re on a budget and have a craving for sushi.

Usually only come here for the chicken teriyaki during lunch time because it’s like 5 bucks and some change. I’ve tried the sushi here several times and always felt sick. Chicken teriyaki is always on point but as far as sushi goes, that falls under your hands. Just keeping it real y’all.

This is kind of my «go to» place when either I’m not feeling well or just too lazy to cook. I normally order the chicken teriyaki with white rice and veggies. Really good and light, not like the teriyaki you get from the mall. When I am not feeling well I order a miso soup and it helps soothe whatever is aching. Not the best tasting miso soup, just has some tofu and seaweed. Nothing to fancy but it does the job. I order for take out and it normally takes about 15 minutes. The prices are amazingly cheap even if its not lunch time. There’s plenty of parking and a few places to dine in if you want to.

Love this establishment. Close to my home and of course, the food is delicious. It’s kinda pricey but what legit, good sushi place isn’t, right? My favorite things to order are chicken teriyaki with noodles and extra sauce, and their Tiger, Volcano, Green Dragon rolls. Filling and abundant. They don’t skimp. The only bad thing about this place is that it’s ALWAYSHOT inside. I don’t know why?! Even the workers are sweating. Turn the air on — cool air, that is, and I’ll give 1 more star!

I used to come here all the time for lunch when I went to TCC! It’s located right beside the Farm Fresh and Target down the street !! The main reason why I love this place, is because of their lunch special from 10:30 — 4:00 every day. For $ 9.99, you can choose between three rolls, and either miso soup or a drink! It’s pretty good for the price. I mean, have you ever thought about how much are these other places up charging you for the same thing? I’ve been to more expensive places with the same quality, so I am a happy camper spending my money here :) They also offer hibachi and kitchen items on their menu, and it’s kind of set up like those places at the mall. You can order your food at the counter, and then sit down and eat, or take it with you!

I usually come here to satisfy a sushi craving, but I’m not in the mood to sit down somewhere. They’ve got a special that gives you three rolls and miso soup for about $ 10, and you definitely get what you pay for. I’m a bit apprehensive about the quality of their raw fish so I normally stick to cooked rolls.

I think this place is pretty great! The sushi was fresh and delicious. You cannot beat the price for what you get. I ordered 3 rolls and a drink for about 10.00.

3 stars only because its not gourmet food but its good when in a rush and still taste good if you just get it to go, some food can only be ate right after its cooked this would be fine. Its a fine alternative to fried greasy foods of the competition.

The sushi here was okay. Not great, but good. I’d have it again. The service from the gal who took my order and prepared my lunch was excellent. She seemed pleased to have a customer and delighted when I said that it looked good when she brought it to my table. There is better sushi to be had, but you won’t beat the price of $ 9.99 for a bowl of miso and three six-piece rolls.

If you’d like some decent, very fairly priced sushi, and good chicken teriyaki, come here! Very quick service! This place is always so busy with to-go orders! The sushi special is $ 9.99 for 3 rolls(18 pieces) of sushi with a soda or Miso soup. The price for the dinner version(after 4pm) is just one dollar more. They also have regular and specialty sushi(like Volcano rolls) on the menu, which I myself have yet to try. I’m totally satisfied with the regular special. It’s not the best quality sushi of course, but totally good enough! Again I say, come here for fast, cheap, and decent sushi!(My go-to by the way is a combo of the Philly roll, Shrimp Tempura roll, and the Salmon Tempura roll!)

Great chicken teriyaki! This place is located in a strip mall next to the S. Independence Target. I drove past it for years but just recently decided to go in and try it for lunch. They have a $ 5.99 chicken teriyaki special for lunch that includes Japanese fried rice or Sobe noodles, vegetables, and a drink. You can also get extra chicken for $.99. The dish reminds me of the chicken teriyaki you can get at Lynnhaven mall’s Sakura, except it’s a bit cheaper and you don’t have to deal with all of the teenagers and crowds at the food court. They also have sushi which I’ve seen a lot of people get, however, I haven’t tried anything other than the California roll and the teriyaki on my 4 experiences. If you’re in the neighborhood, it’s definitely worth a try for a cheap and quick lunch.

Ew. Ew. Ew. I’m not sure this even qualifies as sushi. Nor does it qualify as fast casual. In the amount of time we waited, we could have easily sat at a nicer place with better sushi. I’ve never seen a cucumber salad that consisted of julienned strips of plain cucumber mixed with fake Krab with a mayo sauce drizzled on top. No vinegar. No sugar. Nothing. Just mayo mixed with something unidentifiable. I tried to get the Spring sushi roll, but they«were out» of seaweed salad. I’m guessing that doesn’t get prepped daily. I substituted for the winter roll after I inquired if it was fresh crab and shrimp. I was told it was. The shrimp inside the roll were fine, but it was topped with more of that lovely Krab. there was no Crab in sight. It tasted okay, but left a lot to be desired. Feel free to check out my photo of this stuff. Boyfriend got the 3 roll combo and both the tuna and salmon were lukewarm. Just ew.
