If there was a no star rating this place would get that! From sanitation to customer service everything gets a zero. My husband had a long curly black hair in his chicken sandwich. It happens no biggie. It was the response to it we received from the staff that made me take the time to download this app only to review it. I patiently waited in line to ask for another sandwich only to be told there was no hair in it. I opens the sandwich all the way up and showed them. «Ohh ok» is what the man at counter said. The lady in the kitchen threw a fit and had an attitude. I ordered more fries Bc my entrée had only a few. Large fries are advertised at 2.79 why was I being charged 4 $??! Plus tax?! Meanwhile another lady comes up and says the same thing and wants more fries. She got hers for free. I asked for my money back and told them keep the fries. Others may have had a good experience here unfortunately my husbands food had hair in it and instead of apologizing and fixing it I got the attitude and made my stay completely uncomfortable. Never again. Check your food and if it does have hair in it just go to another place get your money back, Bc they don’t like correcting things here!!!

3 stars due to overrated reviews here. I was expecting more on a recent family trip from NY, and i figured that we would try some southern fried chicken and this place popped out with the most popular reviews. Sides were tasty and its a clean and friendly place, but chicken wasn’t something to return for. Or maybe i just had had expectations, little bread side were really good and fresh.

5 stars for their terrific fried chicken. When I’m feeling lazy and don’t feel like cooking dinner, we order carry out at Pollard’s which makes everyone happy, including my picky toddlers. On our last trip, we tried the puffs which we weren’t too impressed with unfortunately. They reminded me of a Chinese doughnut you’d find at a Chinese buffet except with honey packets instead of granulated white sugar. We also tried the mac & cheese and French fries. Although I’m not so impressed with the sides, the chicken was amazing!

The food here is great. They have a large selection. They also cook your food when you order so you may have to wait a minute or two. No worries, you can always call ahead and put your order in. They are good for small dinners and larger parties. I went to an event that was catered by them and the food was fantastic! The inside is clean and they brew their tea. You would not being right if you didn’t have a puff or two! Don’t forget the desert!

Good food good prices. I enjoy the fried gizzards and collards. My downfall with them is it seems they don’t offer salads. It’s a bad thing when it’s hot out, your sweating, and you don’t feel like fried foods. The booths aren’t tethered to the floor either, makes it weird when they move around a lot.

Has some of the best chicken that I’ve ever tasted. The sides are great as well. The baked beans are the bomb. The barbecue is decent but not the best. But the puffs are legendary!!!

Came in today and had the«2 pieces of chicken, 2 vegis and a puff» special. The chicken was very tender and tasty. The macaroni side? That was mediocre and a little plain… But the puff was very tasty, and also they have Fried Okra, which is a huge plus for me. Not many places carry Fried Okra anymore! The atmosphere of the restaurant was positive. Spacious layout, and very clean. The person taking my order was a true southerner, very polite. Always good to see folks who enjoy and take pride in the job they do as she did. Oh, when I went to pay, she saw my retired Military ID and informed me that Pollards gives a 10% discount to all military Active Duty and Veterans. Cool Deal. Good chicken, good okra, tasty and unique puffs, great service! I’ll be back and I recommend Pollards Chicken.

Best fried chicken in town! Love their chicken tenders! Their chicken pot pie rocks, as well. It’s not typically on the menu during the summer months. Large choice of sides. My favorites are their greens(Oh yes, you are in the south!), green beans(cooked southern style), and baked bean. The barbecue is good too!(Pulled pork & pulled chicken). Their homemade desserts are killer, as well. My absolute favorite is their bread pudding! As my grandmother use to say, «It’s so good, it makes you wanna slap your grandma!»(Whatever that means! :-)) Great place to have cater your party! We’ve had Pollards cater many of our parties and the food is always a hit! Everyone always loves Pollards!

I used to eat Pollards as a kid. I moved to NC for 15 yrs and now i’m back… not much has changed at Pollards… thankfully. They are still the best fried chicken in Hampton Rhodes and deserve the«Best of the Beach» win they proudly display. I got the bbq and chicken combo. The sides were quite yummy. The chicken was exceptional. The pork bbq, however, was chopped into mush. The vinegar sauce was okay but it couldn’t help the consistency of the pork. The puffs… oh the puffs… still as good as my childhood memories. Definitely recommend…

Great customer service! Today we had a last minute lunch for our company, about 20 people. We called Pollard Chicken when they opened at 10:30 and they had our large order ready to go out the door when we picked it up at 11:30! Vicki and Mike made it all happen! They were SO nice about it too! Mike even loaded up my car for me! I can’t say enough about their excellent level of customer service! The food was great! The chicken was mixed well and tasted way better than KFC. The mac n’ cheese was AMAZING! I could eat that all day! We also loved the green beans and potato salad. I didn’t try the baked beans, but they were gone at the end of the meal so they must have been great too! The puffs were excellent as well! It was priced well too! It was actually cheaper than when we get pizza for the staff! We will definitely be using Pollards again for our company lunches. Thanks again Vicki and Mike, yall rock!!!

Good southern cooking. Nothing fancy. Food like Grandma used to make, like fried okra or corn pudding. They also have NC style barbecue and fried fish. Homemade pies and friendly staff round out a yummy meal.

Pollards is easy to forget about when considering what’s for dinner, because of my diet restrictions. One day I noticed that they have rotisserie chicken, I was excited. The chicken was delicious, full of flavor and juicy! Add that plus the yummy corn pudding = cheat day heaven! They give a military discount which is great and this location is clean. Everyone that works here seem to be pleasant. The wait is longer than your normal fast food place, but it’s well worth it!

We got a huge tray of 50 assorted pieces and they were well mixed. Not all drumsticks and wings, but there were some good breasts and thighs in there too. As well, a tub of hush puppies that everyone enjoyed. The chicken was excellent and very meaty but there was way too much batter(which was nicely crisped) and skin for me. If you’re looking for great fried chicken, you’ll be satisfied at Pollard!

This has got to be the best location in the Pollards arsenal. The friendliest staff, and the crispiest fried chicken.

Their fried chicken and chicken liver/gizzard were really good! Definitely like it better than KFC! It took about 15 – 20 minutes for our order to be ready, but it was definitely worth the wait. Restaurant size is not bad at all. Lots of seating and very clean. Definitely check this place out if you’re craving fried chicken.

Do you know what a Puff is? I had never been to Pollards, though I have had their chicken before and I really do enjoy it. SO back to these Puffs. Pillowy deep fried dough balls, drenched in as much honey as your heart desires. Sort of reminds me of a malasada(portugese donut) only you have to add your own sweetness. Also. I have an unhealthy love for Donuts. so fried dough is kind of my thing. The rest of the offerings were good though fairly standard. I don’t think they make the fried okra from scratch(deep fried. so you know I still loved em), mac and cheese(good. decent. standard), baked beans(canned and sweet) and the mashed potatoes with gravy was ok though I have had better at other fried chicken establishments. All in all the food was totally tasty and I would definitely go back.

«I hear a lot of good things about this chicken place from my co-workers,» my friend tells me. That’s usually good enough endorsement for me to check out a chicken joint. Chicken’s good to me – what can I say? Theirs is breaded just right, and it’s good. It reminds me of the fried chicken one can eat at a local church fish fry. It cost about $ 15 for 8 pieces with two sides. That’s decent compared to Popeyes or KFC… which then brings up the question: Is it better than those two fast food chicken joints? I think it’s on par, but its strength is not in its originality in execution as it is its successful mimicry of classic, soul food style fried chicken. I also had a small order of fried okra. Okra lovers would think it’s great. It tastes just like okra, only friend.(You don’t say?!) The other sides were okay. The mash was good. The gravy was great. The corn was juicy. But the bread that came with the meal was horrible. Thank goodness for the honey… I doused the things with a lot of honey. Anyway, the service was great, as well. I would go back. Back to a southern chicken place whose name is Pollard. Really? Pollard? Not Uncle Joe’s? Or Ms. Bertha’s Chicken?
