You can’t go wrong with the House Fish Tacos here. I don’t order anything but them anymore. I’ve had the Pipeline and my stomach can’t handle it. So, I stick with what I know.

The atmosphere is horrible and the service is even worse. The waitress was rude and didn’t deserve the tip we gave her. I’d heard so many wonderful things about this restaurant and i was excited to try the fish tacos. I was truly and utterly disappointed. Don’t waste your gas, time, or money

Baja fucking Cantina!!! After six years of being stationed in the area and many a drunken blur of a night stumbling through bars and clubs of hampton roads, this has been the spot to get a good meal and pregame! By far Baja has the best fish taco’s in all of virginia beach and a staff that will not only put up with you and your friends shit but also join in, at least if you’re a regular. I’ve had too many good nights to remember here and to be honest i’m thankful i don’t remember half of them. This is the type of place that you can bring family members for a great meal or go with your buddies to get ready for the night ahead! I wouldn’t consider this a dive bar, yet some might. I would more consider this a place where legendary nights begin. Obviously i fucking love this place!

So this is a typical beach front/​town local bar… meaning it has its own character. Rock fish and black tuna tacos are all I’ve had and they both were pretty awesome.

It’s under the dive category but I do enjoy having a beer and fish taco here. At the oceanfront. Good prices and pretty good Mexican food. Good prices. Smoking section off to the side.

My go-​to spot, it’s almost a tradition to come every Thursday BOGO Fish Tacos. I also like going on Wednesday for $ 2 lobster tacos. Love the tacos here and almost always recommend them. The only thing I don’t like (and this is only sometimes) is that you can smoke inside. But if it’s too bothersome, they have another place you can sit that is no smoking. The wings aren’t bad and the Coastal Azule (sp?) bites are ok sometimes. The hot sauces are KILLER, they just don’t have the Habanero sauce as much anymore (sad face). And parking blows as well but what can you do?

I came here today for lunch and it was so delicious i had the shrimp and scallops chimichanga! It was so good my friend had a Rock fish (fish of the day) and shrimp chimichanga and she enjoyed hers also, definitely will be coming back again the food is good the service was good and the prices were great.

Chose to come here for dinner based on the suggestion of a local barista from Starbucks. My partner and I are in Virginia Beach on vacation and enjoy experiencing local food, establishments, and service wherever we travel. Mexican sounded good to us, so we headed there. Not hard to find: there was little street parking available, but gladly paid 5.00 to park in a lot 1 ½ blocks away rather than walk the mile from a garage.
Atmosphere is unique and enjoyable, all seated tables seemed to be having a good time, and the food on tables we observed as we were seated looked appealing. Server greeted us promptly with a smile – and visited as often as she needed to.
Food was very good! Decently priced, decent portions, friendly and attentive staff gets four stars. Marked this one on my favorites to return to!

Hot Wings were ok. Service is alright. Order premium fish tacos and they were good and sauces were great.

Looked like a fun place with a full house inside the bar. The seating outside was cool with great view of street performers. And that is where my positivity ends.
The food here is terrible! I have to wonder if the great reviews below are bogus? I don’t understand how they have such rave reviews yet their food is the worst I have ever eaten at any restaurant in my life. It wasn’t just my meal either. My entire party was so disappointed and we all got sick. I got fish tacos and it just wasn’t right, the fish wasn’t fresh and tasted bad. My sister got scallop fajitas and they were slimy with a strong fishy odor, nothing fresh. My husband got the steak fajitas and it was also tough with a terrible flavor. All of the veggies were raw, the lettuce was old and bitter. What a disappointment. And to top it off, we all got sick.
I don’t recommend anyone eat here. Perhaps the bar scene would be fun.

Came here with my fiancé & his friend after an afternoon of biking around the oceanfront. I have friends who love their lobster tacos, so we all hooked up our bikes out front & grabbed a spot on the patio. Our server was friendly & brought us our 3 coronas while we looked over the menu. It’s right near where one of the street performers does his magic tricks/​body contortions, so it’s a good spot to sit & watch.
We all went with the lobster tacos combo. Which is two fairly large tacos filled with fried bits of lobster, cabbage, cheese, & their house sauce. They were tasty. It also comes with a side of black beans & rice. The rice was a little to spicy for me. I also wish that places liked this wouldn’t charge for the chips & salsa if you’re ordering food.
I would definitely come back for their cheap taco nights.

$ 1 Taco Monday. No other words needed. $ 1 «Mystery» beers too. Awesome Sauce. Yesssss.
They have homemade salsa and the soft tacos are huge-​3 put me down for the count. The hard tacos aren’t bad either. I haven’t really had anything else from here but I do not doubt it is all delicious.

Tried this place while on vacation & the food was really good. The drinks were strong!
My fiancé had the buffalo wings and loved them. I had the chicken chimichanga which was great, the guacamole was also yummy! I would definitely go back again.

The fish tacos are better than any I’ve ever had in the west coast and Dominican Republic.
Service is ok, they cater more friendly to locals. That’s fine, I’m sure some of the tourists can be jerks. It’s not bad, it’s kind of average service.
Drinks are ok, not very strong for the prices. ($ 5 – 13) my drink was $ 13, FYI and I had 2 and typically 1 knocks me on my butt. So I’d stick with a beer.
Only 3 beers on tap.
They had a $ 2 tall can of Tecate which in my opinion is a good deal.
Buy one get one free house tacos! Very affordable.
Meal combos run $ 10 and up. Tacos are huge so a meal isn’t necessary to get full.
I asked if they had guac and chips and was told no, they have guac but no chips. Later the table next to me got guac and chips from the same waitress that said there wasn’t. That worked out in our favor because we got full on tacos, but… well whatever. There is indeed chips and guac. The table next to me said it is really good.
If you want inexpensive, good food, you should give them a try!

This is a great divey place where we got fantastic chips and salsa as an appetizer then got fried scallops and the fried poblano for dinner. The scallops were fried perfectly and delicious. The pablano was stuffed with cheese and crabmeat. The breading said it was light bit in my opinion it was on the heavy side. The pepper was very flavorful and had a good kick. The salsa was freshly made and the chips not too salty. Overall a very good experience.

Wings and tacos are amazing! Decent service-​nothing special though. Bug smoking/​pool area with a separate nonsmoking side which is smaller.
Like I said, tacos are awesome! Have to try the lobster ones but even the chicken and beef ones are awesome! I wish they had rockfish more often, but i understand it is seasonal.

Pretty good fish tacos sitting at the bar, especially when it’s Thursday BOGO. Nicely stuffed and not all cabbage. Bottled beer choices were good, so I opted for a (Mexican) Pacifico and a second one later.
My main complaint and what keeps Baja from being four stars is the smoking. Because it’s a bar, people are allowed to smoke up a storm there. And that may have caused my fish tacos to taste less than stellar.
And I will echo what Scooby said about hot sauces. They were simply hot with no texture and no depth. Might as well be straight Tabasco.
I might return, but only if they opt to exclude smokers from indoors.

I was massively disappointed after all the great reviews.
Had the surf and turf tacos — the fried lobster was like eating flavored rubber. The steak was tender and flavorful but the tortilla was cold like they had taken it out of a store pack and slapped it together. The beans and rice were unappetizing looking. I didn’t even try it.
The shrimp and steak fajitas were also disappointing– the shrimp was the pre-​peeled tiny frozen looking kind.
The happy hour well drink was $ 2, but apparently that was only for the vodka. I had to pay another $ 1 for the cranberry. It was a big cup so that was good– but not strong.
The 1 lb steamed shrimp was ok– not big, not the freshest, and not seasoned well. But hey so far no one has gotten sick yet.
All in all, I wouldn’t come back and I wouldn’t recommend it either. The flies were everywhere outside, so you can choose to hang out with them, or eat inside in the smoke filled air. Up to you.
Thankfully for them, the waitress was great.
***4 hour later update… this meal did NOT agree with me… knocked down from 2 stars to 1… ughhhhh
