I always enjoyed this bar until the other night. Stopped by after hitting Baja for there amazing $ 1 beer and $ 1 taco night. I ordered a total of 4 beers and two shots which me and my friend were splitting. The bartender then handed us each a third shot. I asked him«for us?» As we had not ordered and he shook his head yes. We went ahead and took the shots. When I received my tab he had charged $ 5 for each shot. I told him we had never ordered the shots. And he said that was too bad he had already ran the card, and it was already charged, there was nothing we could do about it. He was extremely rude as well. I will not hit this bar again!

Staff is awesome. Place is usually either packed and fun or is dead and homely. They play good music and have really hot wings. I approve.

The Oceanfront… one of my least favorite places to go for night life. A walk during the day? Sure. The Boardwalk? Yep. Club/bar scene? Not so much. For some reason I prefer Town Center and even more, Shore Drive. Too many obnoxious tourists walking the streets. But… Cheap Thrills were playing. If it was just me I would have stayed home but since I was out with six others even the crappiest bar would have been okay with this awesome band. I have to say. I was actually impressed with Retro(based on my low expectations of the overall nightlife scene in the area). From the outside the place looks small but was quite spacious inside. I liked how the band was elevated on a stage four feet high. The dude dancing on the bar showing off the tattoos on his ass cheeks even made the lead singer pause for a moment. That was probably the low moment of the night. The DJ in the house spinning during the band’s break was throwing up some good hits and everyone in the place was having a good time. Decent size place for a dive, good lighting, good drink prices and an overall good time. Not my favorite area in VB to go out to but with the right band in the house I can roll back into this place.

Cool lil bar across from our hotel. Good music, rude people, and cool seating right out front. I would rate it three stars only because of how close it was to the hotel. Had one beer and that was about it. Nothing special.

Ok so I really liked this place, it’s not going to be for everyone because it is a little gritty. We stopped in at around 7 because there was going to be a parade for the Rescue Squad convention we were attending at the beach. We stopped here because they have a giant open window that looks out on the street, and because it looked like our kind of place. The bartender was very nice, a little crazy and was a lot of fun(he heard there was a parade and went out and lifted his shirt like it was Mardi Gras) I ordered a Vodka and Redbull and he gave me something a little less expensive after asking, which is always nice. The prices were fantastic, we paid way less than we normally do up in DC where we’re from. We didn’t try it out but they had a pool table and corn hole set up in the bar. They have one of the electronic bar games as well. The ladies room was pretty clean, cleaner than I expected, but remember it was early. So yes, I will be going back to this bar.
