I used to be a great fan of Tsukasa. We used to come here mostly for sushi, but sometimes for hibachi. We used to have family parties here… USEDTO… not so much now Let me be clear — the food is GREAT! And I would drop this place in a heartbeat, because they SQUANDER good, repeat customers, had it not been for the food… Good food aside, most everything else annoys me to no end. Ever since they moved to the new larger location, they adapted a total snobby attitude, and because they have no shortage of people willing to accept the service shortcomings, they will not change. Examples: — The front of the house staff(younger kids) are not well trained. We have placed several phone orders, and when we ask to adjust the particular dish to taste we often get attitude. Often mistakes are made in front of the client, like incorrectly splitting the bill when given specific instructions 10 seconds prior. — When mistakes are made, the management has time and again proven to be so stingy that they would rather lose a client over a $ 10 appetizer complaint than offer a discount or(GASP!) a refund… — For a $$$ place, them being so nickle-and-dimey is a huge turn-off. Bottom line is: +1 Star — Love the food –1 Star — Front of House poor –1 Star — Management Cheap/Stingy –1 Star — Customer Service severely lacking –1 Star — Overall«Bang for the Buck» — great food but too many other negatives I wish I could vote with my wallet, but will be forced to come here based on my family’s tastes until another place can replace the flavors/combinations of Tsukasa.

GREAT date spot! Boyfriend took me here on our anniversary. Very interactive and a fun social activity. Recommend going on a date or with a large group of friends. Food is top-notch, but obviously quite expensive. Worth it though to see a show put on by the chef. I even caught flying broccoli in my mouth!

By far one of the best Japanese steakhouses around. Amazing sea food and great prices. I suggest going in for lunch, incredibly cheap but still the same great food. One of my favorite restaurants overall.

Tsukasa is a very fun place to go to for a show. They cook in front of you, and their staff is very fun. They’re all very talented. The food is okay too, and most of it is decently tasty. There are better tasting restaurants, but if you’re looking for fun, this is the place!

I have been here many times but never wrote a review. I have never had a bad experience. I normally go for their sushi and sashimi but the hibachi grill experience and food is great too. I’ve hardly used reservations and never had to wait too long. I absolutely love this place and will continue to go. This is a great place for: groups, birthdays, anniversary celebrations, date night, drinks. They have a full bar with some amazing sake and their bartender is very knowledgeable. Please note for dinner/drinks they don’t open until 5pm. I highly recommend the spicy octopus appetizer. One… It’s huge! Two… It’s ridiculously tasty. Heat level isn’t bad so it won’t overpower the octopus or your senses. Their sashimi is very fresh and they give you great portions. You order by the piece which I like as it gives you the most options. It can get kind of pricey here, especially with sashimi but it’s worth it! Last night date night was about $ 90 for dinner(not including the drinks we had at the bar)

My mom’s been telling me about tsukasa for many moons, finally found time to have a mom & daughter lunch date here. Sushi salad($ 10.95 sm, $ 16.95 lg) — 4 stars. Delish. Would be better with some brightness to flavor. Tenderloin and golden shrimp hibachi($ 16.95 lunch, comes with soup or salad) — 3 stars. Pass. Yellow Ferrari($ 16.95) — 5 stars. The scallops make this roll unforgettable. Without the scallops, no ferrari, just a yellow wheelbarrow. Melted in my mouth. Avocados are also a plus. One of the best rolls I’ve ever had. The service was nice, except the rushing us out feeling from two other ppl besides our waiter. The salad never came so I asked one of them about it when our check was brought, and he said it’s not included in lunch specials. Which was different from what the menu and our waiter said. So I asked our waiter about it, and he apologized for forgetting, brought one in a to-go box. Will be back for the yellow ferrari: D

The best hibachi and fried rice!!! Tsukasa is a staple in my family and group of friends. The food never disappoints. For lunch I like coming and sitting in the bar area for a little faster service. I almost always get the shrimp and scallop hibachi combo with friend rice of course! I’ve also had the tuna, steak, chicken and golden shrimp and all were delicious and perfectly cooked. Make sure to ask for teriyaki sauce! For dinner in the main dinning room, prepare for a fun time. The chefs are always interactive and prepare a delicious meal. I’ve come here for birthday celebrations and they handle large groups well. They even bring out a dessert and take a picture of your group which is a nice takeaway. Simply one of the best restaurants in the suburbs!

One of my favorite restaurants. Love watching them cook the food in front of you, it’s always very fun. Especially fun for groups. My favorites are the fried rice and anything(chicken, beef, shrimp) with teriyaki. Portion sizes are pretty good. Atmosphere is nice. Always very popular, would recommend getting a reservation ahead of time.

Made reservations and was seated promptly. It was packed for a Wednesday evening. This place is great for groups. Started with the soup which was not tasty, then the salad which was okay, then we ordered edamame which wasn’t even warm and barely any sea salt on them. I had the hibachi shrimp which was tasty and paired it with house pinot noir, my husband had the teriyaki steak which was good and he paired it with house cabernet. Didn’t have many wine selections. Overall for this experience, it was too pricey, actually think Benihana is a bit cheaper and tastes better. Our chef was interactive and funny. Our server never asked us if we wanted more drinks or if we wanted dessert. I’d give this place another shot to try their sushi but not hibachi.

I went to Tsukasa for a birthday and service was awful, food was overpriced(why am I paying an extra $ 2-$ 3 for fried rice???), I found most things bland, and portions were very small and we couldn’t serve our own cake. I left paying way too much and that was without ordering a drink(no soda or alcohol) and with getting steamed rice instead of fried. Our chef was not fun or enthusiastic and our waitress just ignored us 75% of the time and if she bothered to look our way or communicate with us she was just plain rude. It seems so many people have had great experiences here. Maybe I’ll give it another try, but I’m not sure if it’s worth my time and money.

I have gotten way to old for the show. But the dinner never disappoints. We seriously would have our parents mail the teriyaki sauce to us when we lived in DC. We have tried others like but most pale in comparison. There is really nothing bad here like ever

This place is awesome to go for lunch! They have great lunch specials and their portions are huge! You get enough rice to take home and have for dinner. I’ve had some of their sushi rolls and the fish tasted fresh! I usually sit in the bar area since I’m not really interested in their cooking show that they do. To me that’s only cool to do once OR for a special occasion other than that I can pass on the show and I will just enjoy their yummy food! I’m glad I work in the area because I plan on returning more and more!

I love Japanese hibachi steakhouses. I hate that my clothes smell like a grease sump when I get home. Having said that I have eaten here twice. Service is marginal. The waitresses don’t listen and always seemed rushed. No one ever asked if we wanted another round of drinks or a refill — we always had to stop someone that was running by. You might expect that in a place full of families and birthday parties, but at these prices you could make eye contact once in a while. The food is good. It’s hard to screw up hibachi, but I do not recommend the sushi. Oh, and if someone tries to get you to try the golden shrimp — don’t do it! It’s disgusting! Maybe its a regional thing because some folks seem to love it, but trust me. They need to develop better taste.

Last night was wonderful! We are a great fan of Kyoto teppan in Crystal Lake, so we never made our way out here… but so much closer… and had very good reviews… hence our last minute teppan fix! So, since it was a bit slower night, we walked in and were able to be seated at a hibachi table right away. The soup & the salad. Nothing new, but very flavorful. My hubby ordered filet & shrimp combo, and I ordered a filet & scallops combo with golden shrimp. Now the hard part: fried rice. We judge the entire teppan restaurant based on how they make the fried rice. The chef was amazing!!! I think he was a mongolian gentleman(not korean… and didn’t recognize the language spoken) and his fried rice was absolutely delectable. Not salty, not sweet, not bland… but perfect combo of sweetly flavored fried goodness! My hubby and I were both pleased~ Then he did the entertainment. Now, being a patron of many hibachi restaurant nation-wide, it is hard to get excited about the«show» when we know the drill. Right? Wrong! He was funny & quirky… and he struck up good conversations, made wisecracks that were actually funny, and did his whole bit with smooth flare that made everyone at the table comfortable & enjoyable. The food. Succulent. Flavorful. Delicious. Just right. It was just good– The combo came with one side order and one dessert. The golden shrimp was great. Not too heavy. The rainbow sherbet… a bit of disappointment but no fault of the restaurant. It just wasn’t too good~~~ Overall, Tsukasa was friendly, fun atmosphere with food I would rate at 9⁄10. We will definitely be back soon!

Compared to other teppanyaki places around the area, I would definitely recommend going to Tsukasa. From their outdoor décor to their spacious restaurant, this place is perfect for business dinners, date nights or just for good food. I would highly recommend making a reservation, especially for weekends. They are almost always packed and walking in on a weekend for teppanyaki during dinner time will have a wait time at least 1.5 hrs. I decided to try their sushi rolls this time around after going there numerous times for their teppanyaki. I got the shrimp tempura, California roll and one tamago. Every thing was delicious! Fresh, rice was not too sticky and the rolls were intact. I don’t eat raw fish so I can’t say much about their sushi but people who I with that got sushi said it was very fresh. I think chicken teriyaki is a very common and popular choice for when it comes to teppanyaki. I never had a bad experience before. If you like calamari and scallops, those are pretty fresh as well! If you order shrimp, and get it «golden,» be careful because they literally put a glob of butter on top of the shrimp. The butter is very overwhelming… Can’t imagine anyone eating a spoonful of butter on a tiny shrimp… For someone who likes fresh salmon and appreciates their original flavor, their salmon teriyaki overpowers the fish and personally, I don’t like it at all. Just feel like that salmon taste and teriyaki sauce doesn’t really mix as well as chicken. Don’t forget to add $ 2 for their fried rice! Will not disappoint! And if you don’t want piles of oil and grease on your food, you can always ask them for less oil and or salt. Oh! And as for appetizers, I really like their age dashi tofu! The tofu is deep fried to perfection and the sauce goes well with it. A dish you should try if you like tofu! If you go there for your birthday, they will sing to you, give you a pineapple float thingie and they take a picture of you and your party for you to take home.($ 6) A nice touch to end a birthday celebration :)
