We like this little place, the service is always very friendly and the food good value for money. Stop by and give it a try.

Sushi was good, not fabulous. Staff was fairly helpful, but only the sushi chef understoof me in Japanese. Food presentation is very good which is so critical for Japanese food. My tempura was crisp with just the right amount of breading. Served hot.

Changed owners. It is now pretty terrible. Used to love this place but nothing is the same. Won’t be returning.

There is a new owner; the restaurant changed hands around the beginning of May. I did not enjoy it as much as I did under the prior owner. I found the sushi to be too loosely rolled, cut unevenly, and/or way too large to eat easily — all my pet peeves for sushi. They served a free dish of edimame at the start which was nice, but it was served cold and unsalted which was very strange. Service was not good at all, but I think they will work out those kinks as they get into stride. It seems like they are new to the restaurant business; very disorganized and slow, but very friendly and eager to please. They mentioned they will be changing the menu soon, but not sure in what way. I would give them another try if my issues were only the service problems, but I just did not like the sushi at all. I will keep an eye out, though, for other new reviews and if things look up, we’ll give it another try.

Ambience good sushi fresh and real service varies depending on owners mood. she can be really fantastic and then she can be a little arrogant. Feels funny when owner starts whispering and laughing to chef’s while pointing at you. Sometimes she will substitute in the menus and other times she wont. Don’t get why, it is even if one just asks her to remove something from a roll she will charge extra. If at all it should cost less. However, this is the best sushi we have had in this area, although it is difficult to claim that his area as a measure for good sushi. Turns out they are koreans and the area lacks good korean restaurants. Wondering why they don’t also offer some korean food.

This is my Sushi place to come to when I’m at work and go out for lunch. The service is relatively quick and the staff is very friendly. They will alter any particular roll to your desire. I find the fish and rice very fresh and they roll them nice and tight so they don’t fall apart on you while eating them with chop-stixs. I’ve had a few of the box lunches and they come out hot, with a nice presentation and are also good to eat. As with most of the sushi places around here the seating area is relatively small, but still I’ve never had to wait for a seat.

Pleasantly surprised. Staying in the suburbs temporarily and thought I’d give this place a try. The sushi was really fresh and the prices were good. I was more impressed with the nigiri than the rolls, but all of it was great. If it were in Chicago, the prices would be significantly higher, so I thought it was a good deal. Go for it.

Nothing wrong with it, just ok compared to other restaurants in the area. Probably better off with Osaka or Sushi Joon.

Good place for a lunchtime sushi snack. Nothing to write home about but the fish is okay, about as good as you can expect in the Midwest. Decent prices, helpful and quick service, quaint and cozy décor, simple menu.

Vernon Hills Hole in the wall — Great, authentic, service wonderful. This is definitely not an american version japanese joint — perfect place for a casual date night, lunch meeting, or small family dinner. there isn’t huge room for parties of more than lets say 8. I would recommend the sushi rolls and their noodles. Wasn’t too big fan of the Korean bbq.

This place is great, though sometimes I find their menu to be a bit limited. Otherwise, the food is simple and excellent. If you’re looking for the fancy Americanized versions of Japanese food, this place isn’t for you.

I love this place. I’ve gone there many times. My mom knew the owner really well before it changed. I think it was better before it changed but still good. I always at least get the unagi maki. This place has the best unagi maki out of all the sushi places I’ve tried in Chicagoland… I’ve tried plenty. Theirs are the biggest portion and most worth the price. Their tamago maki is okay too. The other thing that is good there is the dish with pan fried salty fish and rice… forgot what it’s called. You may have to wait 15 – 20 minutes if you go on a weekend around usual dinnertime. Their green tea is great too! Only about 10 tables or so and the sushi bar seating.

Be warned — there is no super white tuna here. .. just fyi. .. otherwise it’s pretty good. Suburban sushi will never swim with the big fishes in the city, but if you’re in the burbs one night and stop in, you won’t be too disappointed. The maki is most excellent — but the unagi is done in tempura, of which I am not a fan(I like my eel grilled or broiled or whatever, but not fried!) please. Service is pretty good(fewer people = better service) and overall it’s an average experience. Nothing to love, nothing to hate and it’ll definately curb your need for sushi. Beware the mercury content ya’ll!
