Oh man, heard they have a new bun so I decided to go check it out. Boy, glad that I did, meat was juicy, sauce has a perfect tangy and sweet flavor and my sandwich bread was still together. I will be back for sure with my co-workers!

I have been coming here since I was in high school and I am so happy that they are back. Customer serive is great and the staff is willing to give you suggestions if your not sure what you want. The chopped chicken plate and the BBQ beans are my favorite. This is a great place to have a lunch or an early dinner. The peach cobbler with ice cream is a must if eating there.

Best BBQ I’ve had in town. I would of given them 5 stars but they’re missing some buttermilk cornbread. Collards are excellent and the sauce is perfect. The sweet potato pie is really good too! I’m from South Florida so I’m super happy to find a good bbq joint!

it’s not in the sauce, the sauce was not good, too sweet with no kick. the meat is smothered in the sauce so it covers up the real flavor, I had a chicken sandwich, not good, I don’t like chopped meat on a roll. why chop it? ruined an already bad sandwich. they want 3.00 for a side of potatoe salad with no taste, just blah. I do not recommend this place unless you have a sweet tooth.

I might give it another shot one day because after all it is across the street from my house and I love BBQ! Unimpressed once again, tried the food truck a few months and I had the famous hotdog, not good. Now that the location opened I was hoping for better quality food that didn’t taste like cheep coals, and I was even more unimpressed with the tri-tip sandwich. The moms mac n cheese tastes like mom made it a week ago.

Good ribs! Good prices! I will have to do this again. Easy parking. Outdoor seating only. Not sure about if restaurant has a restroom for customers. Fairly quick service. No complaints here.

So, I’m choosing this review area because it has the current address — the others I assume were from previous locations and when it was a food truck? I live in the neighborhood and love that it’s walking distance and I like to support my local small businesses. Super location on the corner of Catalina and Main St., in a former hamburger stand building with walk up window and outdoor picnic tables and umbrellas. The BBQ is delicious. I’ve had the chicken, pork and beef. It has a distinctive smoky flavor that I like. You should definitely visit them and eat there. My only complaint is price and what you get for it and their bread. I’ve been there 3 times and every time It’s store bought, Wonder type sub or hoagie roll. Even in their platter which includes a meat, a side, and a roll, it’s that darn Wonder sub roll. IMO what they should include is a fresh baked slice of corn bread, or something a little more tasty than grocery store bread. The other night I had the half rack of baby back ribs(I think there were 6 ribs, very meaty and delish) one side(small container of cole slaw that was a little too sweet IMO) and the Wonder sub bun. It was $ 13 without beverage. And you eat off of wax paper, aluminum foil, or Styrofoam with plastic utensils. And twice when I was there they were out of items — the other night they didn’t have the collard greens and prior to that I was there for lunch and just wanted the pulled meat over a salad and they were out of lettuce! I’m rooting for this place to be successful, so hopefully someone there will hear this and«up» the quality of the sides and bread, and then I won’t feel so bad about spending $ 13 for a meal at a walk up window.

We had a craving for bbq and decided to try this spot on the corner. The baby back ribs we excellent! Plenty of meat if you like to eat. The beef ribs were huge and he sides were good as well. They were out of hot bbq sauce which was why I took off a star.

Located across from the High School, It’s in the Sauce is back in business and I for one welcome them back with open arms. It’s nice to have a lunch/dinner spot that not only serves quality food, but has a friendly staff too. For my first visit, I ordered the BBQ tri-tip sandwich, the meat is marinated in BBQ sauce so don’t expect to be needing anymore because it come with plenty on a french roll, it’s messy as heck, but none the less tastes pretty fantastic. The potato sauce is spot on fabulous, as were the BBQ baked beans that had pieces of shredded pork in them… mmmm, good. You definitely won’t be hungry after finishing your meal that’s for sure. Price wise they are reasonable, I got two meals out of that sandwich and sides. Go get your BBQ on… after all, It’s in the sauce!

VC Star Café Society’s Lisa McKinnon writes that It’s In The Sauce is re-opening at this Ventura Main St. location in mid-February 2016. I am delighted to see that!!!

Have enjoyed It’s In the Sauce BBQ since they were on Main Street in Ventura Boulevard. It is authentically good and reasonable. When ever we are in Ventura we find them and enjoy a good BBQ meal, yummy!
