Their hours on Unilocal are posted as 2 – 11 and then 3 – 11 on their website. I drove 25 min to come here and when I arrived at 3:30 the doors were locked/​chained up. Chances are they don’t know when they open on a day to day basis so, call them ahead of time.

Ridiculous! I have been planning a group happy hour here for a while and we show up and the place is closed! According to a nearby business, the owners show up when they feel like it. This is really unfortunate that they don’t either stick to a schedule, or let someone know via the Facebook page or website.

Great wine. Great service. Michaela is awesome. She offers great wine selections. The place has a great ambiance. Very mellow, a place to kick back and relax after a long day. I highly recommend it.

Grapes & Hops offers a wide variety of beer and wine at reasonable prices. Drinks are always served with a smile by the personable staff including Tammy (the owner), daughters Michaela, Chelsea, and family friend Sara.
FYI: Live music is available several nights a week (call for details), and Argentine Tango dancing is offered on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

On Tuesday evenings, they open their doors for dedicated dancing on their amazing, early 1900’s wood dance floor. Great noshing, excellent wines, outstanding service; it couldn’t get any better, unless of course, they added a full kitchen and served their exceptional food fare in an expanded menu. They say that’s coming later this year. Can’t wait!

Jared was amazing! Been here before and he was our guy. Today we came and he allowed us to rearrange the chairs on the patio to accommodate out needs! Nice place. Relaxing. All good

Came across Grapes and Hops while walking around downtown Ventura one cool night. A glass of wine suited the chilly night so when I Unilocaled «wine bar»… it was clear that this was the venue to choose. So excited to come across this spot. I looooooooooooooooove the ambience. The décor totally gives the classy, yet casual, vibe. It’s hard to explain — so you have to visit… for shurr, for shurr.
Areas of the venue can be intimate and other spaces can be used for a group shindig. There’s a more intimate spot in the back where you can host a party as if you’re having it in your living room. The private area in the back is designed like a living room. The only concern is that the restrooms are in the area so be aware of occasional strangers passing by asking where the restrooms are.
There was a live band when we visited (@ night on a weekend). A couple of holiday parties were also going on so everyone was having a great time. It was loud, but not loud enough where you can’t whisper sweet nothings to your love one’s ear.
So ok then… when in Ventura… stop by Grapes and Hops. Try out the Cheese Plates… the fruits are fresh and the cheese compliments everything else on the platter.

Ask for Brandon as your server! He is awesome and super funny. He really knows his stuff!
We loved the cheese and meat platter. It had an awesome selection.
Sitting outside is very cozy and the heaters are really powerful.
An older crowd type of place but a relaxed atmosphere.

My friends & I had the absolute pleasure to share New Year Eve at Grapes & Hops in Ventura, CA.
It was a 5 star experience including the venue, meal, attentive staff and top notch music performed by Shawn Jones. The owner, Tammy, completely went over the top to accommodate this event to their guests. I will surely be there next year. Thank you for the best experience ever.

So much fun here!!! The ambiance is great! We sat on a couch on the patio to experience this place and it was awesome! Our server was the nicest Brit and her recommendations were spot on!

We had my friends birthday party here this weekend. They decorated the bar for us and gave all of us very personal service. Our food was catered in (im not sure who catered) but it was excellent. The service was the best Ive ever received. Great wine and friends, what more could you ask for in life :)

The most awesomely decorated downtown wine and beer bar with an awesome wine list and beers on tap! It’s cozy in the back and also has a cool front patio and large bar inside. Tammy is the sweetest most hospitable people I’ve ever met! They have a great inexpensive Cava for some bubbly and other interesting varietal and wine blends.

This is my third visit to this fine establishment! Sara was our waitress and was so attentive, her recommendations were amazing. Our group ordered the 4 cheese platter. Our favorite wine was the Grenache. It is a great place to meet up with a group of people sip on wine and enjoy the company of good friends. I can see it being a great 1^st date spot! Will definitely return!

Amazing food and beverages! This is my new favorite place in Ventura! Such a cool atmosphere. The sign said live music 3−6… I’m not sure what days that applies to, but It was a great way to spend a Sunday!

What a gorgeous space. –Cozy, inviting, super comfortable seating– all with backs, with quaint areas to sit and have your wine and cheese. Gorgeous décor made mostly of wine barrels. Patio is beautiful. Opted for inside but it was a tough decision. Glad we did, because great live music and vibe. Just great.
The boys playing (I believe original music) were phenomenal. I called them boys but they weren’t really young. Great talent.
The cheesemonger was the cutest man in the world. His passion was evident. Got 4 cheeses for like 20. The cheddar was sooo good. Got a couple of meats for 6. Came with LOTS of accoutrements– gherkins, olives, grapes, strawberries, spicy orange spread, great bread with a lil’ balsamic drizzled. Mustard was great too.
We also loved our wine– 2014 The Fableist Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon. Payed 36. Retails for 19.99.
Beers– rock solid. Not top-​top shelf but good beers. Decided to do wine this time around.
We will 100% be going back. We’d love to share Grapes and Hops with our wine /​cheese– loving family & friends.

My husband and I were looking for a nice place to stop and have something cold to drink. We walked in and were immediately impressed with the casual yet sophisticated vibe in Grapes & Hops.
We enjoyed glasses of a Cabernet, then I was tempted to try the Sangria. It is outstanding! We decided to settle in for a longer stay and asked Fritz to make is their Four Cheese plate. Amazing! It was lunch for us!
We will be traveling out to visit this lounge often in the near future!

Absolutely a must have when in the area! This place has some amazing beers you can’t get anywhere else and the chews plates and sangria are extra tasty! This is a must have every time I come out this way!

The beer selection is out of this world and the bartender did a great job of recommending ones I might like.
Omg. And the cheese plate! I cannot say enough good things about it. They made me one to go because I was on my way to a hair appointment at Cibara salon a few doors over. I don’t know how the sliced bread was made but it is sourdough and a little bit chewy and absolutely completely perfect. I can’t believe I had never been in there before!
I want to go back in and try the infamous sangria. My dad makes quite a mean one so we will see how it measures up.
Overall my experience was a ¹⁰⁄₁₀.

Cute wine bar! Similar to Wine Rack also located in DT Ventura on Main street. Can be quite loud with a live band but that is part of the ambience right? You can sit outside in the front if you’re trying to have a conversation. Would be a cute girls night out or date night! Had their pear cider and peach champagne — very tasty! Would go back!
