Delicious, authentic, quaint, romantic, friendly, charming, unique. all words I’d use to describe our food, service and experience at Barrique. The chef and owner visited our table three times and was so kind; involved in everything and clearly loving what he does, which was reflected in each course. The tuna tartare was perfect, the sauce & my steak were heavenly and my fiancé’s ravioli was perfectly simple but still delicious. I can’t pronounce the dessert ;) but it had fresh vanilla bean and pistachios and was cream based — it was perfection. Okay I’m done with the gushing but I mean every word. We’ll be back soon to this wonderful little gem that feels like home, if home were a beautiful Italian village with a brilliant, friendly chef. Bravo, Barrique.

This is an incredible restaurant. My wife and I love to find small, local and amazing restaurants. This is one of the best we’ve found anywhere. The chef, Antonio Mure, is the real reason the now closed La Botte earned a Michelin star(or so claim the blogs). Anyway, he’s a fantastic chef and you get food of this quality for $ 25-$ 40 per main. All of the staff is incredibly nice, professional, efficient and very well dressed! We loved our waiter’s shirt/tie combo. To the food. They have a good number of specials, maybe 3 – 4 appetizers and 3 – 4 pastas. Plus their menu was full of items we would have loved to try. We ordered two special appetizers — the caprese with Burrata cheese with a drizzle of their homemade pesto. It was incredible. But the best was the foie gras. Served with brioche bread and a poached section of pear, it was wonderful. Thank you California for allowing foie gras again! Mains were both pastas — the lamb ragu(our favorite) and a fried prosciutto with pink vodka sauce, both also specials. The pasta was perfect. All in all, a lovely evening and we loved both the Lyft drives we had. Such a lovely evening and we will return.

Decided to go here last minute for dinner on a Friday night. The place looked super cute and intimate with their real candlelit tables and small kitchen. They had a very great wine selection and our waiter happens to be one of the co-owners. Ordered the Scallops appetizer. It was fantastic, fresh, and melted in your mouth. For the main course we had filet mignon and ribeye. Cooked perfectly and the portion was just right. I even had room for dessert. Our waiter was nice enough to pour me a complimentary glass of wine that went perfectly with the chocolate soufflé. The best ending to the night. I look forward to coming back.

This place is a hidden gem. I found it on Unilocal and so happy I did. I came here with a group of friends and everything was delicious. The tuna tartare was out of this world. We also had the burrata and prosciutto which was some of the best I have ever had. For my entrée I had the beef bolognese which was good but not great. The restaurant itself is super cute and intimate. I would definitely recommend coming here if your looking for an intimate, genuine Italian meal.

This is a first-rate Italian restaurant on all levels. The ambience, food, service, and prices are all worthy of recommendation and future visits. We started with the burrata and prosciutto which was excellent. For pasta, my Tagliolini Rossi(beet pasta) with quail ragu over cheese fondu was ethereal. My wife also enjoyed a decadent Tagliatelle alla Bolognese which was rich and well balanced. Our crunchy chocolate cookie with tiramisu was a special way to end this birthday meal. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and GM as well and they made us feel just like famiglia!

This review is for dessert only. We’ve walked by this place about a million times en route to Abbot Kinney. We’d stopped to look at the menu once, and it looked very meat-heavy, so we never stopped in. But each time we’ve passed it, it had an appeal to us both — a cozy, house-looking restaurant on Main Street, set a bit away from it all. We stopped in last night around 6:30 for dessert. Service was extremely friendly — from the hostess to the waiter, who I believe was the owner. We got the chocolate candy bar dessert, which was a layer of chocolate mousse, a layer of white chocolate mousse and a layer of nougat. It was phenomenal! We were served two little sticks of the chocolate mixture, and both my husband and I loved it. The first two layers were smooth and light and the nougat more dense. The plate was garnished with a few berries. We sat outside upstairs, and while you noticed the traffic going by, it was a lovely, warm evening, and they do have a serene setting. We’re excited to stop back in for some of their homemade pasta!

We dropped by this lovely establishment and were immediately seated. The service is superb, and the food tops the service. We had the tuna tar tar which was the best I’ve ever had. The tuna was fresh tender, fatty, and mild; perfectly paired with chives and balsamic. We also had the most tender octopus I’ve ever tried, paired with baby arugula and baby you on gold potatoes. Phenomenal! And we had the raw octopus paired with Huerta and some lovely shallot concoction. This dish was by far the best dish I have ever eaten in my life. A perfect mixture of sweet, creamy, and tangy. Couple that with dim candle light, an enviro get atmosphere and you get a perfect dinner. Lovely just LOVELY.

This place is a fantastic(semi) hidden gem. I forget what it used to be called, but that doesn’t matter now because it’s Barrique. The food was great, the ambiance was fantastic, and I learned about two Italian wines I had never had – amarone and valpolicella ripasso. The best part was one of the co-owners was serving, and the other co-owner was walking around and checking in one tables. Plus, the second owner and I had a very nice discussion about wine to boot. If you like cozy, intimate spaces with good food and good vibes, this is the place for you.

WOW. Ambience gets an A+. Service gets an A+: from the servers, to the waiters, to the owner, to the valet. Food is beyond. The beet pasta is INSANE. The butter/truffle pasta was INSANE. The carpaccio absolutely delicious. The octopus is delicious. There’s no other Italian restaurant in LA that compares. Great wine selection as well.

I read other people’s reviews and decided to check out the buzz. The reviews are all accurate but I was not in love with the place. Bread was meh but olive oil was delicious. Burrata appetizer was a home run. As was the short list of Italian wines by the glass. I ordered the house made al Dente meat ravioli in a homemade marinara sauce that was barely a teaspoon and I needed more… It was just average… my friend at the homemade pasta with quail Ragu and it was very delicious. Service was very very good as was the owner and his partner that continually came by the table with their fabulous Italian accents checking on us. It’s a good restaurant with excellent ambience. Just not five-star

I don’t usually try to review restaurants cause I think it’s just so subjective. However, couldn’t resist this time. So. Effing. Good. We got the octopus and the duck prosciutto with burrata to start. Octopus has the perfect texture and great flavors. Prosciutto was amazing as well. They accidentally brought us the caprese as well, oops! The kind of mistake I’ll have happen anytime. It was perfect as well. The beet pasta is simply out of this world. You can appreciate every ingredient in the description and the pasta is cooked to a most perfect texture. You can feel the love in the dish. I was already wondering when I would come back once I took the first bite!

Solid food. Had the burrata and prosciutto then black ink linguine and rabbit ravioli. Dessert also great. Great service by the owner and staff. Attentive, warm, funny. Only partially minded that all – and only – the Asian patrons were seated downstairs while all the pretty white people were seated upstairs. That’s OK. Next time, I’ll just make sure to come with more white people. See you soon!

Review 59⁄366 To take a step back, if I were only rating the food, it would’ve been 4⁄5. However, Barrique’s service and attention to detail brought its score to a 5. Barrique is a small restaurant in Venice, on Main and close to Abbot Kinney. My friends and I came by here Saturday night for dinner– unfortunately we didn’t make any reservations, but the hostess still worked to accommodate us. We were seated fairly quickly and served by the owner(I think). He had such great energy and you could see the passion he has for the food and the restaurant– his energy was contagious and made for a great casual, yet nice dinner for me and my friends. They started us off w/some bread, be careful, they have olive oil poured on the little bread plates. My friend and I ended up w/bread soaked all the way through w/olive oil :) We ordered their duck prosciutto special, which was great! Then ordered 2 pastas: 1) Black ink linguini… and 2) tagliolini with some sort of cheese fondue. Both pastas were great. We had the owner pair a wine for us– he chose a light chardonnay for us. Perfect perfect perfect! So we were still a little hungry afterwards, not so much ’cause the serving sizes were small, but ’cause we had walked over 10 miles that day. We ended up ordering their grilled octopus appetizer, which was really good too. Anyways, barrique is definitely worth visiting. The food is solid, but the service and warmth of the staff was what pushed it to a 5 star for me.

We were served by the owner who was very nice and accommodating. The resturant is an old house that is hidden away and hard to find. We were seated on the second floor of the house which was set in a soft candlelight but was extremely loud and hard to communicate with just the people next to you. The wine list is an array of amazing Italian wines. We got the Tuna Tartar and buffalo mozzarella for apps which were both amazing. We followed that up with beef ravioli and the rigatoni both cooked to a perfection. Our main dish was the seabass and the fillet. The seabass was just average and my steak was a bit undercooked for what I had requested. Overall the food was tasty but a bit on the salty side. Service was good and food was a combo of delicious and art. Wine list left an impression and we would certainly be back!

Loved our experience! Servers were so fun, authentic and personable! We had the perfect table outside on the upper balcony, a beautiful glass of vino(not even on the wine list) and our meals were fresh and filling! Loved our lava cake dessert and not blown away by the $$$ of our check! Will be back!

Love all the attention to the Detail Cozy Place just lit by candles. Simple beauty everywhere. Tables made of old wine crates. Extremely attentive staff, thank you Tony, excellent food. Perfect relaxing night out. One request to the other patrons — please keep your phones off. The blue light it emits just does not go with the warm atmosphere.

I recently had a surprise birthday party for my wife at Barrique(Ado) and everything was amazing. Tony spent a good bit of time with me in the weeks prior planning out a reasonable and personalized prix fixe menu. Substitutions and changes we allowed and encouraged, and he worked to provide us with a dinner that wowed everyone. He started us with some nice apps and salads, then brought out family style pastas(including black truffle and the beet ragu which were both AMAZING) and finished us off with individual servings of the kobe beef and branzino, both of which were incredible. Everything was flawless with the food, service and the surprise. I can’t recommend this place and the staff and ownership more highly. I’ll be back!

I love Ado. I love café Ado on Washington blvd which is a sister restaurant and more relaxed, being steps from the beach. And now, I love Barrique. I am really happy that this place(these places) have stayed around. L.A. has a volatile dining and retail scene. One only need to look at Abbot Kinney’s constant turnover to see that. So when I see a staple remain a staple, I am glad. When Ado Venice closed I spilled a glass of Barolo. But they closed only to reopen under the name Barrique, but with the same chef and same great food. Finally had a chance to go last night to see if the magic was still there, and yes it is. Ado is still as romantic as ever, and discreet, too, at least on a weekday before it gets bustling. The service is outstanding across the board. The ambiance still has it and I love the fact it’s the type of place you might pass by without realizing it at first. In fact that’s how I discovered it, by almost passing it by and then taking a chance. But let’s get to the food. My god, the food. Started with scallops on parmesan fondue which is as lovely as it sounds. Also had an octopus salad, which was hands down the best, most expertly prepared grilled octopus I’ve ever eaten, and it came with al dente green beans and heirloom tomatoes. After that? We had the foie gras special, on brown bread with poached pears in some cinnamon concoction that turned into a syrupy glaze which was obscene and wonderful. The foie gras was amazing. For mains, I had the wild boar chops. First time, cooked medium and served with a cranberry purée, whipped potatoes and carrots. My date had a black squid ink homemade linguini with dungeness crab, garlic, tomato and white wine. Moscato for dessert and that, my friends, is how you do Italian on the west side.

Had an amazing dinner here on Friday night! Although I came with a couple of friends, this place is definitely more of a date night spot with a great romantic ambiance. We ordered the burrata with proscuitto and it was delicious and tasted so fresh! I opted for the special of the night: squid ink pasta with Dungeness crab meat. I’ve been to Italy a couple times and this squid ink pasta was still one of THEBEST I’ve ever had and definitely comparable to the fresh pasta from Italy. I wish I had more room for dessert since the dessert menu sounded delicious, but I definitely look forward to coming back!

Everything is in generous portion! The aged ribeye is so tasty and tender, the duck breast so flavorful, grilled octopus is tender too! The desserts are simply aaaamazing! The chocolate soufflé is perfect and pleasantly surprised it has chocolate sauce oozing from inside! The Italian icecream is to die-for! Best of all, the owner and the chef are so down-to-earth and friendly! They were warm and so helpful! Love it so much!!! Will definitely come back

Barrique is spectacular. The food is unbelievable and the service perfect. We are not typically«service» oriented diners(unless it’s very bad), but the service at Barrique is truly above and beyond. For the appetizer course, we had scallops with truffle which were amazing. Cooked perfectly, subtle flavors, delicious. Next time, we will try the octopus that seems to be a favorite! For the pasta course, Potato Fig Foie Gras Tortelli. Wow. So rich! Next time we were recommended to try the Beet Tagliolini Pasta, and we certainly will try it next time, but you also cannot go wrong with the Potato Fig Foie Gras Tortelli. For the mains, we had the smoked duck and a veal chop special. Both were amazing. I have never had a veal chop come medium rare(I feel like restaurants typically tend to go more medium on veal as opposed to beef), so this was quite the treat! All of this in an amazing«home» atmosphere. Like I said, spectacular! By the way, this is restaurant is basically Ado, renamed. So for more reviews, check out the Ado page.

God what a great night. We had dinner here on Friday night and the place was packed. Such a great ambience for date night on the westside! We started with the Grilled Octopus and tuna tartare. A lot of Italian restaurants have octopus on the menu, but is often a wildcard once you order. Here you hit a home run! Perfect texture and flavors. It guess this all makes sense when the chef was a winner on Chopped. Pretty much winning no matter what item you pick! Next we shared a couple pastas. When you go here, definitely get the Red beet pasta. Freaking ridiculous! The Sea Bass entrée was a solid protein for our meal. No room for dessert this time but we will be back!

Red beet pasta, grilled scallops and anything else on he menu will bring a smile to your face! The atmosphere is warm, friendly and inviting! The wait staff are absolutely professional and informed. Do your palate a favor… Barrique!

This place is amazing. Use to be Ado, but they went through an ownership change and therefore a rebranding. Now it is called Barrique, which is a great name for a place that has the wine selection they do. Absolutely delicious. Same great menu, same great chef, same great service… just a new name. This place hasn’t missed a beat, just like I don’t miss their beet pasta whenever I go… It’s amazing. Great spot for date night or a little family outing. An Italian gem in Santa Monica/Venice area. Check it out! You won’t be disappointed. I heard Tony, who has been there forever, is the new owner!

The food is AMAZING! Chef Antonio Mure is fantastic! I enjoyed a lovely dinner tonight with my coworkers. The restaurant has a nice, charming, and romantic feel. The upstairs room seats a table of 30+ people which is where we sat for our large dinner party. We started with the watercress salad. Then we had grilled octopus, tuna tartar, prosciutto and burrata. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. For our next course, we had red beet tagliolini pasta with quail ragu, fettuccine with beef and mushrooms ragu. Our main entrée was the filet mignon and the sea bass. The filet was so nicely prepared — juicy on the inside. Lastly, we had a plethora of desserts. My favorite was the chocolate soufflé. All in all, this was one of my best dining experiences. I will definitely be back!

I love this little gem, it is by far one of my fave spots in LA. It’s unique flavor and impeccable service will leave a lingering taste on your tongue that will bring you back again and again. Perfect place to bring your parents, your date, your bestie, or your business. I have been eating there for some time, it used to be called Ado, then they changed the name to Barrique but it’s the same chef, same cuisine, and same vibe. The food is the game changer I must say. I have lived in Italy and have had the pleasure of being introduced to some of the best food I probably will ever have and Barrique brings me back there every time. The servers there know their wine and what it means to pair wine with food. It is an art that takes experience and they have a lot of experience. I recommend going to Ado and just letting the servers take care of you. Tell them what you in the mood for and let them do the rest. You will leave feeling satisfied and in love with that little yellow house. It is a magically delicious experience.
