Hairy Kari’s

Hands down, the best place to get your hair done in Vancouver! Kari (the owner) took my damaged hair and made it healthy again. She was able to dye my hair the exact grey that I wanted. The rest of the staff there made me feel at home as well! I cannot wait to go back and have Kari make me look like a brand new person!
Will definitely be back!

Called this morning and they got me an appointment same day to fix my grown out, faided color. Lexi fixed my hair today and it looks great! Thanks for the great color.

Valerie was very sweet and attentive. Her customer service skills are 5! I was pleased with my cut and will definitely go back!

The cost was way too much for the quality of service. Sure the women are sweet but they turned my healthy hair into a disaster zone. The dye job is uneven, it is partially yellow instead of blonde (which I specifically said I did not want yellow hair!!), and it is fried beyond hope. I’ll have to cut it up to my ears to get healthy hair again. I would NOT recommend going here if you want a good quality dye job. Next time I’ll do it at home.

Took a chance, and went for a haircut without knowing my stylist. I couldn’t be more happy! My stylist Valerie was super sweet, and listened to exactly what my questions/​concerns were about my hair. The salon itself was super clean, and a professional atmosphere, will be back and would highly recommend.

I have been going to Hairy Kari’s for 30 years and am 100% satisfied with Kari’s service. She is always on time and very professional. Her staff is also very courteous and helpful. They go to yearly conferences to keep updated and current on hairstyles.
I also have Jeung Walling do my pedicures and she is awesome as a manicurist. All in all, Hairy Kari’s is an excellent choice for a salon for all family members. My 2 sons and husband and granddaughters also only get their hair cut with Kari!

Called on a Thursday really wanting a haircut that day but knowing it was a shot in the dark. But it was my lucky day and I got a 6pm appointment with Melanie.
The receptionist was really nice when we arived. Only had to wait 5 minutes or so while she finished up her client.
My last haircut just didn’t cut it (haha) and really needed it cleaned up and re-​shaped. She knew just what to do although we did discuss it first. She did a great job and was fast. My hair was really soft and shiny when I left and looked great the whole next day, which is a bonus.
She has thin hair just like mine so she really understood what needed to be done to make the style work. I don’t think I’ve ever come across that before.
Conversation was just right, Melanie is really likeable and it was great to meet her.
I am going back next week for highlights and for my daughter to get a cut. Really happy to have found somewhere so close to home with ample, free parking, easy in and out and so convenient.

Alyssa is Fantastic!!! She does both of my girls hair and its a great experience every time. She is technically a great hair dresser as well as her guest service is amazing. The girls leave looking fabulous with big smiles on their face. Go see Alyssa you won’t regret it.

I’ve been coming here to have Jenn (Jennifer) cut my hair for the last four years. She always listens, does a fantastic job from short precision cut to longer when I grow it out. Her color suggestions are always top notch and I always get lots of compliments after. Two friends have switched to her and loved her work too :) she even does the owners hair. We love Jenn!

If my review was based on the first encounter I would have rated it much higher, but the second try was such a disaster I felt I should report on one of the most ridiculous customer service experiences I have ever had. First appt was with Jen, as a walk in, got a great cut and left happy. Called to make a second appt with her, Jennifer Rogers, and was set up a few days later for 1 pm on Thursday. Received a reminder call that I had an appt with Jennifer Rogers, arrived on time and then was told I didn’t have an appt with Jennifer but with someone else. I explained I made it with Jennifer and they said someone made a mistake when they wrote it down and that Jen was with a client but would have an appt available at 3 NEXT Thursday! I was dumbfounded! When I let them know I was unhappy with the situation, all I got was a sheepish, «sorry.» I drove home fuming mad. I thought at least after the inept receptionist realized how foolishly she handled the situation I might get some kind of phone call to try to salvage the customer, but nothing. Wow. Real professional. I might as well go to Hack and Wack.

The only reason I still come to this place is because my hair stylist rents out a booth here. I have followed her since I was young, she is the only one that knows how to cut my hair the right way.
All the receptionists at this salon act like they have much better things to do than to talk to their customers. I walk in the door and the only way I get greeted is if my hair stylist (LaDonna) is up there waiting for me.
You can feel the tension in this place between the girls that work there.

I came here because of the other reviews on Unilocal and I’m glad I did. I had to find a new stylist because the one I had been going to disapeared from the salon I was using. I was warry because of the name and the 80’s looking font on the side of the building but inside was modern and friendly.
Not only did Amy trim my short hair back into style she took notice of which side I parted my hair on and how I styled it. I hate when stylists use a bunch of paste and goop in your hair. I never do this, I hate how it smells and feels and Amy left all this out with out me asking. I really appreciated that!
Definitely a great experience.

A haircut for the new year.
I found this place through Unilocal and thought I’d give them a try. All I wanted was a trim around the sides/​top and to clean up the back.
Crystal did a great job. She was friendly, personable, and listened to my requests. She was patient when I kept asking for a little more off the back and ultimately delivered on a haircut that I’m thoroughly satisfied with.
I recommend this salon and especially Crystal without reservation.

I came here after reading reviews and deciding that I didn’t want to spend a lot of money by going to some high end salon in Portland when all I needed was a trim.
My stylist was Lauralee (sp?) and she did a fantastic job! She trimmed it just perfectly and gave me some great layers as well as an angling in the front that I desperately needed.
The conversation was a little awkward because she didn’t say a lot and just randomly smiled at me in the mirror but it didn’t bother me!
Really great salon, everyone was really friendly and professional and I read in another person’s review that said everyone had great hair in there and that is definitely true. Everyone who worked there looked so cute!

I got a haircut here 2 months ago, and went back yesterday for my second one (not for a fix-​up, I loved my cut, I just decided on changing my look).
I agree with Latisha that all of the hairdressers have very nice hairstyles.
I showed up early, so I can look at the styles books, and everyone made sure to ask if I’ve been helped, which was nice!

they all know what they are doing. prices are way better than driving to downtown portland.
the owner, kari, is the best! if you can get an appt with her, you’ll be hooked.
