Ate here on three different occasions. I tried the country fried steak, New York Steak, and Rib-eye steak. While the service was very good, the main food items were poor quality. Salad was good, eggs passable, meat I would not order ever again.

Vallejo grill closed and has become RAJ GRILL. Excellent Indian/Pakistan servings. Very fresh and really great flavors.

I’ve been here before but didn’t know that the ownership had changed or at least that’s what the server said when they refused to honor my certificate. Service is extremely slow. Food was OK. I had a breakfast special that was supposed to include a biscuit which never appeared. I didn’t bother to ask for it. The location is at a strip mall area and has no parking directly in front of it.

I came here for breakfast and didn’t even end up tasting any food because the wait was so long we ended up leaving and I haven’t had a desire to come back and try one more time.

I must say the service was EXCELLENT! There were two female servers on the floor and they both w ere just welcoming, attentive and made US feel like they were happy WsE were there. So I appreciate that more theme days! I got the San Francisco Melt and it was OK. For ten bucks I’ll pass. Fries and my green side salad were excellent! However fries tasted like they had been sitting awhile. Lastly, the place is supposedly new lqand l felt like it was old and ran down and a hint of messy. All items or condiments in table were greasy from other customers and not wiped down! Drinks big and fresh! I’ll be back if It depended on my life or a friends choice! otherwise NOTHANKYOUTODAY!

My girlfriend and I came here at about 8:30pm and they had already cleaned the frier so anything fried was no longer an option. I really wanted to chicken fries steak but ended up settling for the prime rib which wasn’t that great. Was kinda warm but didn’t look too appetizing and the potato and side vegetable looked plain and not very appetizing. The total was about $ 13 dollars and the price wasn’t bad but I guess you get what you pay for. Maybe I just came at a bad time since they were about to close. I’d really have to think if i’d go back, maybe in the morning for their breakfast? On the other hand service was good for one waiter handling 4 tables.

Went here for post-Run Or Dye breakfast with 5 of my friends. Blackbear Diner had a 40 minute wait and this place had open seating. I suppose that should have been my first clue. The menu looked very promising, however, after a 45 minute wait for our food, it was obvious that the quality did not match those expectations. The waitress never checked on us throughout the meal to make sure we were taken care of. Overall each plate’s presentation was lame. Meats were overcooked and my pancakes were filled with uncooked batter. I won’t be here again.

It’s not a fine dining establishment, but the people are really nice; the portions are good; and the food is pretty good. I would come back if it had a better décor, but it’s called Vallejo Grill… Not«bar and grill» not«Ristorante» or something french… it’s in Vallejo and it’s a grill. *period* If you want a scramble and a cup of coffee, come here. Other than that– don’t expect much.

I ordered prime rib for dinner. It included mixed veggies, baked potato, and a dinner roll that came with a side of horseradish, sour cream, dipping sauce, and butter. When placing the order, I was given the choice of how well done I wanted my prime rib but made no difference as it came well done which I did not request. The interior gave me a feeling being far away like a town with a population below 500 or so. It reminded me of a truck stop I been to while heading out to the Grand Canyon. I clearly recall the furniture had wheels on them. The chairs had wheels as well as the tables. It’s pretty mobile and can easily be converted to a night club with a dance floor if they really wanted. Picturing a customer who needs to be repositioned, I can see the wheels having some use in that given scenario. Sorry Tom Kruse! Customer service is not bad at all. We were served with attention. The regulars seemed to know him by his first name. I thought he was John Cusack at first!

Oh my! Where do I start! I haven’t wrote a review in a while but my experience here was so bad I was compelled! This place has to be the best of the worst restaurant’s in Vallejo! Our server had a horrible attitude. We said thank you everytime had came to our table and gave us food, water etc. We were very nice at all times! We left a tip, and even said goodbye and it SEEMED like he ignored us because I’m pretty sure he heard us,(plus seen us headed to the door) but he did not reply… or say bye to us, or say have a nice night, thanks for coming… NOTHING! The food! I cant believe they are getting away with this! The prime rib you might as well call«water meat»! No flavor at all! I mean, we put salt and pepper on it… still no flavor. And how do you mess up a baked potato? Cheese was hard, potatoe was cold, bacon bits tasted funny. The veggie seemed frozen and tasted microwave prepared. The chicken noddle soup once again, water! No flavor! And the cracker packs were two different brands… one pack was First Street, the other was Nabisco. This place hasn’t been around very long, but the décor is old! The chairs have wheels at the bottom of them… lol! Really! wheels! Come on Vallejo Grill, you can do better than that! I kinda feel sorry for these people, someone needs to call one of those«Restaurant rescue» shows that comes in and remodels, change your menu, train your staff, and show you how to run a restaurant! TRUSTME, PASSONTHISPLACE, YOUHAVEBEENWARNED!

Not fresh. There was a weird chemical taste to my hash browns even though I ordered the country potato. Their blueberry special looked weird(canned berries) The coffee left a really bitter after taste. I support Vallejo establishments and want them to succeed but this place really needs to step it up. We know good breakfast and unfortunately this is not going to cut it. Stop cutting corners and get fresh food it makes all the difference.

This has over the months become my go to coffee shop for dinner. The owner has done an excellent job of recreating the old Lyon’s menu. About 75% of the time I get their prime rib which is very economical. They make a decent burger and other entrees. I went back for breakfast and my wife enjoyed the whole grain pancakes and I had an omelet. which was good. I am still unwilling to retry their chicken fried steak.

I just came back from a late lunch(3 pm) with a friend. I’ve been wanting to try it. There is a reason Chef Gordon Ramsay say’s ‘Make twenty things right, not one hundred things wrong’ — or, he says something on that order. This place might get a grilled cheese or maybe a burger done correctly. The fries were cold for my friends well-done hamburger. The chef here doesn’t know how to do well done burger without making them tough. My chicken-fried steak came after my friends burger — obviously a frozen patty. The gravy source? — who the heck knows but part of it over my ‘steak’ had gravy skin. Really folks? The seasonal vegetables — from a frozen package of mushy zucchini, broccoli and carrots. I’m saving the best for last. Instant mashed potatoes. Gluey and like paste. $ 26.00 with two drinks(cranberry juice and a soda). If I want a grilled cheese with fries for $ 8.00 bucks I will go back here.

I came here with parents because my dad was duped into buying a coupon for this place. I was excited at first but the food is barely diner quality material. The food was cold, and not cooked properly and quite frankly the salad looked old. Flavor was not present in many of the dishes here. The staff was hardly friendly and seemed irritated everytime he came to out table. I understand it sucks being a server as I was once a server myself, but if you hate it that much look for another source of living. It’s located in the corner where an old Chinese restaurant used to be, in the Safeway shopping center. The place was brand new but just seems«old». I did not enjoy my food here and my parents agreed. Coupon or not, we won’t be coming back.

Well, I gave this place another shot and thank goodness I had a much better experience the second time around! It still wasn’t a 4-star experience, but it certainly was a much better experience the second time around. I started with the fried zucchini for an appetizer. Much to my surprise, they actually tasted like it was made fresh with real zucchini and batter, not frozen in a bag! They were thin, large medallion slices, crispy and not too greasy, sprinkled with a touch of fresh Parmesan cheese. They were quite tasty! I was very pleased, but I would have liked a few more slices for $ 6.99. I found it odd that the price of everything else is more than reasonable for what you get, but I felt a bit short changed on this one. Especially since they were so darn good! This is definitely something I will order again! Next, I got the French Dip Sandwich. This was o.k. It wasn’t bad. I’ve had better. Much better! But it wasn’t horrible. I believe that the gravy that you dip the sandwich in needs some work and the french bread that the sandwich comes on could be better. But the shoestring french fries that come with your sandwich were yummy! I love shoestring fries! And these were not too greasy either. That was fantastic! I missed the $ 4.99 Country Fried Steak deal. This must have happened after my horrible first experience with my $ 10.99 Country Fried Steak dinner. I don’t think I would have been as harsh had I only had to pay $ 4.99 for it. But I did notice that they started another Special. I think it is a $ 5.99 Ribeye or maybe a T-bone. I can’t remember. But it sounds like a great deal! I will try it again. Like I said, I like to patron the local businesses, especially when the owner of the establishment is so nice and really putting his effort into listening to his patrons and trying to make it work. Besides, it looks like some Unilocalers have found this place to be a good local spot to grab a bite to eat, so please do check it out and form your own opinion. I will say, the waiter this time was a man and he was very friendly and attentive. The staff here has always been so nice. And I love to see how they are with some of their elderly clientele that I have seen both times I have come in here. They will stop and chit chat with them and have long friendly conversations. They are so helpful and kind. I love so see how engaging they are with their patrons. Both the female and the male server I have dealt with both times have been really great!

Great all-American diner. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food that you get. The San Francisco melt was excellent. The Prime dip sandwich was mediocre. Our server was great. Unilocal deal brought me in, but I will certainly be back.

BEST«MOMANDPOP» RESTAURANTAROUND! My family and I went to Vallejo Grill tonight for the first time and were extremely happy with the service and food! My husband got the $ 4.99 country fried steak and eggs meal which was an amazing deal. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the gravy on the country fried steak was smooth and creamy and while the hashbrowns weren’t as crispy as my husband was expecting, unlike most places, they were cooked all the way through and he didn’t even mind that they weren’t that crispy. I got the burger and shake combo {$ 12.99}. The burger was huge, the fries were thin and crispy, and the chocolate shake was thick and delicious. The burger came with Thousand Island dressing on it which made the flavors just POP. I even asked for extra to dip the fries in :) My son had the child’s pancakes and he cleared his plate — something he VERY rarely does which goes to show how yummy they were. All-in-all, we had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to go back! In just the couple hours since we left the restaurant, my husband and I have brought up numerous times how happy we are to have found this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s very roomy and comfortable inside. I do want to add that we used the Unilocal deal {$ 10 for $ 20}, but even if we hadn’t, the prices were very reasonable and we’d gladly have paid full price for the wonderful meal. Our waitress was great {although I would like to point out that the two older waiters reminded me of zombies because they just looked miserable walking around the restaurant} and I made sure to ask her to tell the owner {who was on-site} how much we enjoyed our meals. Remember, folks, make sure you tip your waitress for the FULL price, not the after-deal price! They work hard and should be tipped accordingly.

Bought the deal and went in for breakfast. It was delish! Prices were great, food was tasty and the service was awesome! The décor was a little plain but they have a big flat screen you can look at instead lol. On Saturdays and Sundays they have a brunch menu in addition to their regular breakfast… eggs benedict and such. I opted for the Mardi Gras omelette. It seemed like the bacon was a little undercooked. I had to pick some of it out, but otherwise it was really good. Next time I’ll have to ask for my hash browns to be cooked a little bit longer. They werent as crispy as I prefer, but now I know! I’ll definitely be back. Buy the deal! It’s totally worth it. $ 18 worth of food and drinks for two people and I only paid $ 10. Don’t forget tip money like I did though. Had to run down to Safeway to get cash back!

A coworker and I went to the Vallejo Grill for lunch and used the Unilocal coupon deal. It was okay, not great, but okay. Since there are limited dining options in Vallejo, I’m sure we will be back. The day we went, it was cold outside and nearly as cold inside. I’m not sure if there was a mechanical problem with the heating system or the fact that there are only a couple of HVAC vents for the entire dining space. I had a grilled roast beef sandwich with roasted peppers. The sandwich was very tasty, but the beef was a bit grizzly. The flavors were very good, though the quality was a bit sub-par. There were only a couple of other tables occupied when we arrive, but shortly thereafter, three or four groups came in. Overall, service was good even though there was only one server. An odd thing happened with our Unilocal coupon. The coupon was a $ 20 coupon(that we paid $ 10 for), but our meal only came to $ 17. I would have assumed the $ 20 coupon would have covered the entire charge, but it only reduced the bill by $ 13, leaving another $ 4 owed. I guess I should read the fine print on the coupon and figure out why a $ 20 prepaid coupon did not cover a $ 17 charge, but I haven’t done so. So, our $ 10 savings was actually about a $ 3 savings.
