Jensen’s Restaurant at the Truck Stop

The food is alright better then dennys but there is elderly waitress who is very rude. We stayed away for three months and when we came back in she was just as rude. Don’t go in after 10 PM.

This is one of the hidden secrets of Northern California and One of the few authentic American Diners left in California. The coffee is great. The owner knows very well about about food. I had a special dietary request. He went out of the way to take care of me on a Sunday evening when everything is dead in Ukiah. All the wait staff are excellent. If you are looking for hipster stuff please don’t step in go somewhere else.

It’s a truck stop in the middle of nowhere, I wasn’t expecting much. Arrived just as the lunch crowd was finishing up. We waited a few minutes to get a table but the waitress was quick and attentive.
My guest and I both order omelettes and biscuits. Food was good (minus the slightly underdone hash browns) and as advertised, portions are quite large. Overall better than expected.

The lady and I thought we’d try the breakfast here our first time really. And let me tell ya my ribeye and eggs were amazing. My girl got the benedict scramble she really thought it was delicious .and so did I. will definitely will be coming baCK

Server was nice but didn’t pay attention to detail or order. She got my order completely wrong and then we had to wait 30 minutes to get it back so I cancelled it. They gave me the food free. It was nothing special. I wouldn’t go back again.

We have eaten here often, spent many dollars here, but I refuse to ever come back me an my husband just bought a puppy a Siberian husky puppy we came to eat with him an even took him to the outdoor patio, where there was no one else but us out there. they came to take our order an then left, to our surprise the waitress or manager comes outside an says I’m sorry no dogs on patio… note the outdoor patio where no one else was… But hey there was ashtrays everywhere, you’d rather serve ppl who smoke then serve ppl with animals. so our business with you guys is completely gone… and I told many other ppl that goes there as well… if my dog ain’t welcome in ur outdoor patio we will no longer eat at your establishment… why have a outdoor patio?

Really great service and food. A little outta the way to get to but enjoyable experience.

Good old fashioned truck stop, good coffee, average food. Pancakes are heavy and conversation is light.

I love the ribeye steak and eggs, when it’s properly cooked. Sometimes medium rare/​over medium is done perfectly! Other times the cooks can cook to order to save their lives. On numerous occasions I’ve gotten an overcooked steak with undercooked eggs. Today, it was an overcooked steak (clearly medium well). Sent it back, and was told to order it rare (with the theory it would still be overcooked, and thus perfect), but it was raw. They put it on the heat longer and it was still barely rare. At this point the manager (older redhead woman) flat out said, «maybe we just shouldn’t order the steak.» Hold the royal we crap, and how rude to suggest I not order my favorite menu item. If you can’t do it, take it off the menu!
In general, it’s your basic coffee shop (Club Calpella rates way higher), but it’s decent and they have free wifi. Their service is inconsistent, and prices are too high for what they offer.

Food was good, had the breakfast burrito. It’s a very loud place, not for everyone’s enjoyment. I would go back again

How refreshing.
My husband and I love to travel and finding good food is not always easy when you’re away from home.
This place isn’t much to look at, but the old school charm and wonderful service was a definite treat. Not to mention the food was good at a fair price.
We left with full tummies and smiles. We will be back if ever passing through Ukiah.

Food to be anywhere from good to bad. Had hair in my food one time. Wanted to charge me for extra sauce on my sandwitch, they seem to nickel and dime a bit. Skimpy on the meat on the french dip. Service is hit and miss.

My family and I stop here every camping trip on the way home. Great people good service not the best food ever… it’s defiantly comfort food but it’s a truck stop! I love the omelets delicious and huge.

Not trendy Not Upscale Not Fancy
Good coffee shop food at a decent price. This is sadly one of the few remaining independent truck stop coffee shops. I ate there twice on a weekend stay and was not disappointed. Small touches like beet strips in a dinner salad and old favorites like the Monte Cristo sandwich on the menu bring a smile to your face.
In has a quirky yet homey old school look. Each table is made of a different kind of wood. and identified
I recently spent a weekend in Ukiah and ate 3 meals here. Small touches like heating your dinner roll, real mashed potatoes and gravy … can you say gravy…

Pretty standard truck stop diner: hamburgers, omelets (5 egg omelets at that!), pie and coffee. Nothing too fresh or inspired, but a casual and comfortable place to stop on the road. I did enjoy the model train that ran above the bar.
Oh! and each table is made of a different wood and finish and has a plaque to identify it. I think that this would be helpful if working on a house re-​model.

Ok, so for the record I was brought here because my wife’s family lives in Ukiah. I also have eaten at the Denny’s here a billion times. My wife suggested this place because she knows I like to eat at local places rather than the common goods.
I am extremely happy to report that it was a really wonderful adventure! I got the Monte Christo which was fantastic. I haven’t had one since Bennigans was around in Houston. For those of you counting, it’s many years. It was fresh, the cheese was melted perfectly and the sandwich was to die for. This sandwich was so great without being overly decadent. Most of the time I have one I have to take a nap about halfway through because of the batter overload. This one was made just right.
The best thing about this restaurant was the service. We had a sweet waitress who was working solo for a bit. She had a few tables and managed to keep my drink full and the tables as well, all night. We stayed and talked for a few hours. So you know how that typically goes in a diner, the waitress leaves you alone and vanishes, and you turn around to find that you’re alone in the booth with no help. This however was not the case. Not only did we pay after we ate, but she continued to get us drinks after the fact. This is almost unheard of! The even more amazing thing was that her shift ended during our stay and the new waitress that was around still came and filled our drinks. I was really flabbergasted at this. I could have hugged them all I was so happy!
So for the record. Stop here if you’re ever in Ukiah. It’s well worth the visit. They’ll take fantastic care of you. The prices are great too!
