do not buy package food from here!!! i have found bugs in my rice and was sold green covered molded organic grape jelly. we didn’t see the bugs in the rice and actually are the bugs until we took a closer look. my mom has brought oatmeal and beans that had tiny insects. my mom had to take back bad fruit. we are done shopping there. cashiers are nice there but who wants bugs in their food especially tiny ones you can end up accidentally eating cause they are small. sometimes the bugs in there are alive so we just ate cooked insects… gross!

Have been here a few times and bought their meat which was no where near edible so wasted money and still no food on the table. My fucking dogs wouldn’t touch their«meatloaf» or chuck roast, or bacon for that matter. How do you fuck up bacon! DONOTSHOPHERE, unless you want to end up in a hospital. This hole town needs to be blown up!

If you are camping at Joshua Tree National Park, this is the closest decent supermarket. There used to be a crummy market in downtown 29 Palms that went out of business for a good reason– it was really lousy. Stater Brothers will have all the food supplies you need as there are no, zero services inside Joshua Tree National Park.

I am writing in the hopes that this review might help to change the culture of service at the store in Twentynine Palms, CA. For the third time in 11.5 months, I have had to return a defective item back to the store. Each time, I am grilled by the cashier as to why I can’t keep the product, if I think it is truly unusable, and I am asked at least twice why I am asking for a refund rather than asking for an exchange of items. I am then asked to complete a form which asks for personal information to include my name, address, phone number and either my driver’s license number, email address, or fax number. In this day and age, Stater Bros. is the ONLY store I know of that requires so much time, hassle, and information to return an item. This morning was my worst interaction yet. I returned three items that I purchased yesterday: a dented can that I did not realize was dented until I got home, a box of almond milk which was bulging at the seams, and a box of soy milk that was also bulging at the seams and had a slight leak in it. The cashier was short with me, especially when I asked for a recap of the refund. «Don’t worry, I’m not trying to steal your money» was her response to me. The reason why I asked is because she did not return my original receipt to me. Again, in this day and age, Stater Bros. is the ONLY store I know of that will not return your original receipt. This morning, upon my return home from the above-mentioned interaction I had the unfortunately-timed situation in which I cut into not one but three avocados(that I purchased yesterday) and found them to be rotten. The proof of purchase for those avocados was on the receipt that the store would not return to me. I called the store to explain my situation(was there this morning, returned items, was not given the original receipt and now needed to return these avocados) and, in true Stater Bros. form, I was told I could return them and choose new avocados. I drove back to the store and had the same cashier. She was even less cordial then she was the first time. I asked for a refund, which she gave to me, and then I stated, «I didn’t have much luck with my shopping experience yesterday, so may I please have my original receipt»? She sighed, called her manager on the phone and stated, «The lady with the avocados who returned stuff today now wants her original receipt». The tone in her voice was one of annoyance. I waited for my receipt but in return, she handed me three photocopies of my original receipt as she walked by me, without stopping, without saying a word to me, without making eye contact with me, without even responding to me when I thanked her. There aren’t many grocery options to choose from in Twentynine Palms, so perhaps the team believes they can get away with subpar customer service, which is very unfortunate. This community is home to thousands of military families(including my family) and Marines and Sailors who proudly serve their country. Easy and pleasant customer service is all they ask for in return.

When you visit Joshua Tree National Park this is a good place to stop and load up with those food supplies you forgot to bring. Grab some supplies for a picnic and head on in to the park where finding a picnic table is a piece of cake(ha ha). Seriously, this is a fill is grocery offering value and good service.

Ah hello? It is our hometown grocery store. I know all all of the staff. Hello! I always get what I need. If not, they will order it for me. Just wish there was no smoking outside of doors… EVER!

Stocking up for a camping trip at nearby Joshua Tree National Park, this store had everything we needed– and at decent prices. What a relief after coming from Las Vegas! The place wasn’t terribly busy when I was here, either, so not a bad shopping trip at all.

First, a tip to avoid long lines. Shop during off hours! Shop after the MTBA bus is no longer running, shop BEFORE the first of the month! Twentynine Palms consist of many people from various walks of life, however one thing is constant. The EBT(aka Food Stamps) benefits are reloaded for users on the 1st of the month, and a lot of folks rely on the MBTA bus. Neither of these things are bad, it’s life, but if you’re wanting to avoid a long line, avoid certain times to shop. We have base and commissary access, but Stater Bros carries the froo froo dog food my dogs eat(Evolve) and they meat department is AWESOME! This location carries a pretty decent beer and wine selection. Typically if you are looking for an IPA you’d need to go into town(29 P Liquor) but Stater Bros has picked up a few more choices lately. The produce is great(better than the commissary), Seafood on weekends is always a treat, and the meat department staff is so friendly. You don’t need a store shopping card to get the discounts here, just pay attention to the signs because sometimes the price advertised is only if you buy certain amounts, usually 4 or 10. Also you can redeem and purchase California Lotto scratchers and other Lotto games here. And there is a Red Box and Money Gram phone, and they make money orders as well. I’ve also seen many folks using the coin changer machine, although I believe it chargers a fee, it’d still be a great way to empty those change jars. As a bargin shopper, I do know where I can go to get certain things cheaper, smokes, fire wood, ice, beer, but if I want it all in one place, in one trip this is really worth the visit, less gas than driving to base(for those of us who chose NOT to live in the crapped base housing areas), clean, friendly etc etc.

This place is always super busy when I go in and the lines are super long. I wish they had more cash registers opened because the lines really are unbelievable. It use to be the only grocery store in town… so I am glad they opened up a save a lots.

Their meat counter and deli counter have some great offerings. Those are the only positive things I can really say about this location of Stater Brothers. Their prices are ridiculously high, and I suspect it is because they know they have no competition for civilian grocery shopping in 29 Palms. Every time I have gone the checkout lines are so long they are spilling into the aisles. The staff seems exhausted, and customer service is average. I try to avoid this place if at all possible.

It is nice to have something other than the commissary to go shopping at for groceries. Typically, they do have all items I am in need of. However, they are a dirty establishment whose prices are extremely high. Also, they have a constant line whenever I go /it doesn’t matter if it is pay week or not. None the less, I still go because it is available to me.

Ummm worst grocery store I have ever been to in my life. Every time I have been in there has been an over 10 person line, it looks like a concert line, just to check out. And there is always like one or two check out lines only. The customer service is horrendous as well. I had a very rude check out girl. Also, the staff yells at each other in front of customer. Or the check out people are having a very inappropriate conversation with each other, when they clearly should be working. This is just a trashy grocery store. But it’s the only one in the area pretty much. I prefer Vons in Yucca Valley but that is like 40 min drive.

They are kind of the only grocery store in town so it’s hard to compare it when your other option is a generic Save-A-Lot or driving out the Yucca Valley. They seem clean inside, have the full service or the meat and deli department my only complaint is the checkout. No matter when I go it always seems like they have only 1 or 2 registers open and all of 29 Palms is in the store. I walk in to buy a carton of eggs and end up standing in like for 15 minutes. I cringe every time we have to go there for something because it’s always the same. If they had staff to cover the registers when it became busy it wouldn’t be so bad but when the lines wrapping around and blocking aisles, there’s a problem. And it’s like that every time I go in.

It’s probably the best option in the area, and it does okay for what it is. Even the lowest-brow grocery pits in my area sport a dedicated organic/health food section, so my judgment is a little off. Surprisingly, they do have a little to choose from in that regard — but not much. This store is for old standbys, not new-fangled«healthy» food(ha). We grabbed some charcoal for the grill, eggs for pancakes, and marshmallows for s’mores — the camping musts. That’s all we needed and that’s all we got, which is not usual for us in a grocery store.

OK — it’s a grocery store. How much is there to say about it? This is certainly the closest alternative to shopping at the Commissary on-base & pretty much the only other choice in 29 Palms. That being said, it is a great grocery store with a big selection, good prices, & friendly customer service. Anytime I’ve asked an employee a question or walked up to the check out, I’ve gotten a smile, a nice greeting & quick, courteous help. If the Commissary is closed(or you don’t have base access), this is the
