Leprechaun Leap 5k

I participated in the Leprechaun Leap 5k yesterday (Satruday) and had the best time!
I have been in about seven 5k’s, a handful of 10k’s and three Half Marathon’s the past three years. With that said, I know what to expect from races now! I had found a Groupon online for the Leprechaun Leap and because of this, only paid $ 17 for the race (normal price is $ 35).
Race pack pick up was the Friday before the race at Whole Foods at The District. I ended up stopping to pick up my stuff on Friday since it was on the way home for me from my intern site. The pick up process took me about five minutes and the volunteers were so nice! I’m glad I picked up my race stuff the day before so I didn’t have to show up really early the day of the race.
Race day was flawless. The race started at 7:30am in front of Petsmart at The District and I showed up about 7:10am, which gave me just the right amount of time to park and use the bathroom pre-​race. The race had plenty of volunteers working and finding where I had to go was stress free. This 5k was even more well organized than the Half Marathon’s I’ve participated in, which ways a lot! Love it!
The race itself was just average to me. There where about 450 people that participated in this race, which was perfect for me since I love bigger races! What I didn’t like was the course. You basically go back and forth on the same path three times for the whole 3.1 miles, which gets really boring! I was ready to stop at about mile 2, which says a lot considering I usually don’t mind where I run and tend to zone out during runs. Other than that, the course was flat and fast and I got a really good 5k time for me!
Post race, we got a lot of goodies — I actually received more free food and drinks at this race than I have at any other race I’ve participated in! Score!
Overall I really enjoyed this race and would consider participating in it again next year!
