Prices have gone up since the last time I’ve been here. Got here at around 10 am and not much of a variety to choose from. Russian tea cakes were good.

Literally the grossest brownie I have ever had. I don’t even know how they can call it a brownie. It was more like a cocoa powder flavored brick with frosting. Just horrible.

Such an amazing place, great food, great staff, great environment. Hoping to try one of everything:) A place to get a great lunch, and a treat all in one stop. Somewhat new to the area and never realized there was a bakery until recently. Much more put together and cleaner than the Greenfield bakery. Happy I found this place. Keep up the good work

Get up early and take a walk on the bike way in Turner’s Falls then come here for coffee and a fresh made pastry. We had their baked cider donut and a blueberry muffin — both were delicious!

Fantastic place — I am so glad I found this off-the-main-drag gem. I had a Man-eater sandwich and it could not have been better. Delicious fresh bread, fresh ingredients, huge sandwich… more than a meal. Great vibe, friendly people — I sat by the front window and enjoyed the community garden across the street. If you’re in the area, go! Highly recommended.

Celebrated a birthday with four different cakes and 75 guests. Each and every guest was thrilled by the quality and beauty of the cakes. Delicious flavor and texture that is at once old-fashioned and contemporary: moist, perfect crumb, frosting that has flavor, unique and tasty fillings — topped by the prettiest collection of flowers. I highly recommend this bakery to any bride wanting a delicious(and well-priced!) wedding cake! Or anyone else planning a birthday party for family and friends!

Extremely and superbly delicious. Their pastries are near perfect. The cakes and cupcakes are a sight to behold. The coffee is good(I’ve only had the iced coffee) and their breakfast Sammies are yummy. I got the chicken soup once and it was flavorful and comforting. I’ve been meaning to try their breads, but this place is my go to for pastries and other sweet treats for birthdays and other celebrations. The last time I went they were closed for vacation and I nearly cried. Please check it out! Note the address!

This place has the best cakes and pastries ever! They have an enormous selection and a beautiful display, its almost impossible to walk by without being enticed into buying some scrumptious baked good on the way to the register. They also have a good selection of coffee which is fairly traded and locally roasted. We ordered our wedding cake there, which was the best wedding cake I’ve ever had! We also ordered a gluten free cake for our gluten free friends and family and a sugar free blueberry pie for anyone watching their sugar. They were all amazing, the blueberry pie especially was a winner!

Popped into 2nd Street today to look into their wedding cakes and was surprised to find out that they were actually having a cake sampling. They had a phenomenal amount of cake samples and they were all delicious. Our favorite was the vanilla almond combined with the strawberry filling. The store was also really nice and had great coffee and pastries. The bread looked amazing and their soup smelt incredible. The only downside was that they were a bit pricey, but overall the quality was great.

I love this place so so so much. I went to photo school in this small little town and had to resist coming here every day as it was down the street from my house. They make the most delicious sourdough bread — beware it’s huge. I remember the 1st sandwich I ordered here — turkey with cheddar & bacon(what could be better?) and it was huge. I ate it for 2 meals. Everything is fresh and delicious. I had this incredibly soft but crunchy sugar cookie when I was here last that was heavenly. The coconut coffee is also a hit among my friends. We would come a couple times a day for it, very addicting. YUM. When in TF always stop at 2nd street.

I really, really, really wish that I could give more stars to this fantastic local establishment. The reason that I can only give it three stars is because there are only ever two vegan options(pumpkin muffins and breakfast cookies). The rest of the selection of baked goods hardly ever changes either. I totally understand that it takes extra time/effort to create new vegan options, but I promise you would sell whatever you made as there are many vegans living here in Turners/Greenfield area! With that being said, we love living near this local establishment and enjoy the salads/sandwich selection.

There are several things this place has going for them. The pastries are amazing, especially the croissants… almond…chocolate raspberry… or a variety of savory options that are different every day. They also make the best iced coffee around with coffee ice cubes, and freshly opened soy milk if you’re looking for it(which I always am). The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The counter service tends to be a little slow, particularly anything you need made(sandwiches, bagels, etc), so I avoid going in there when I’m in a rush. However, the rest totally makes up for it.

I live a block from here and boy is that dangerous! It can be a little pricey but there are day old pastries for 75 cents and the food is good. I love the veggie wrap, coconut coffee, and vegan espresso brownie.

Having grown up and lived in Montague for most of my life, Turners Falls has seen it’s share of ups and down. In the past several years, much has been said about the«renaissance» of Turners Falls with the arrival of many new businesses that have revitalized a town that was in desperate need of it. 2nd Street Baking Company is one of the best additions to Turners and should be a destination for anyone who finds themselves in this neck of the woods. Walking into 2nd Street is an instant feast for the senses! Before you even have a chance to glimpse the marvelous creations that are on display, the aroma of the freshly baked(or depending on when you get there, still baking) breads hit you as soon as you cross the threshold. Every day brings a different menu of what fresh breads will be coming out of the ovens and it is impossible to be disappointed in any of their offerings. My particular favorite is the Chedder– Jalapeño bread, which is dense and loaded with cheese and the spice and bite of sliced jalapenos woven throughout the loaf. The sugary sweet delicacies the line the display cases vary from day to day and never disappoint. From chocolate covered confections, hiding sweet moist cake and gooey caramel or peanut butter inside to thick slabs of raspberry pie bars, topped with brown sugar crumble to mango sugar cookies with lime icing, you will find something to satisfy your sweet tooth. The fact that you will never know what you might find when you stop in just adds to the excitement of wandering to the display cases to see what Laura has come up with next. For those looking to fill their bellies with a meal before settling in for dessert will be very well served by the sandwich kitchen that 2nd Street has. In the morning, they sell a variety of breakfast sandwiches and stuffed croissants. The croissants are pre-made and stored in a hot case for the diner who is on the go. They also have some pre-made breakfast sandwich available to grab & go. The true delight comes from the somewhat recent addition of made to order breakfast sandwiches. The sandwiches are stuffed full and could almost be a meal for two people, especially with the Sawmill, which finds two eggs, cheese, sausage, bacon, and a hash brown patty sandwiched inside of a bagel. For an equally delicious choice that is lighter on the belly, the Farmer’s Market is amazing, swapping out the abundance of meat and potato found in the Sawmill with sliced tomato, spinach, and avocado. Later in the day, their expansive and delicious lunch menu takes over(though you can order anything from the lunch menu starting at 7am if you want to stop in and pick up your lunch for the day before heading to work), offering made-to-order sandwiches, paninis, and wraps along with a 3 different soups each day. The soup selection changes from day to day and always has some great selections. Their beef chili is a must have whenever it is offered. Much like their breakfast sandwiches, you can easily make a meal for two with their sandwiches, especially the paninis if you opt for their flatbread options. Their multi-grain flatbread has an amazing flavor that you don’t always find in some multi-grain offerings. The Old Port Pesto Melt has never steered me wrong and is my usual go-to. If you’re looking for something for a holiday celebration, you should make 2nd Street your first stop. They generally offer a special menu for various holidays that are filled with all manner of amazing treats. The most spectacular, to me, is their sugar-free apple pie. In the past, efforts to find a good sugar free pie have found countless instances where you can taste the artificial sweetener used in place of sugar above all the rest of the pie. Wanting to treat my mom to some pie a couple of Christmases ago, I decided to try 2nd Street’s offering, since I had yet to go wrong before. My mom can’t consume sugar any more, so the chance to provide a dessert she could enjoy for Christmas was high on my list. Everyone needs to try their sugar-free apple pie! I don’t know how Laura makes them, but I absolutely cannot tell the difference between the sugar-free pie and a regular pie made with sugar. It is every bit as sweet as a regular pie and has none of the weird artificial sweetener aftertaste that most sugar-free baked goods have. I don’t think that I ever want to settle for regular apple pie any more now that I know that I’ve found 2nd Street Baking Company, though I am certain that their regular apple pie is every bit as stellar as the rest of their offerings. If you find yourself anywhere near Turners Falls, you are doing yourself a serious disservice if you don’t take a trip down to 2nd Street and stop in to see Josh & Laura and what edible delights they have available that day. Even if you’re not in the area, it is worth taking a trip out for a visit! You will be so glad that you did!

Let me paint you a picture: two people are headed from Vermont to Southern Massachusetts — they are driving — they are listening to music — they are taking scenic photographs of their travels — they are… HUNGRY! Signs for«Scenic Turns Falls: an Artistic Community»…there MUST be a café! And not some rinky-dink operation, either… the 2nd Street Café offers a sunny space to enjoy a cuppa coffee and a delicious muffin with a few friends(= perfection). *Sunday means quiches and ham/cheese-stuffed croissants — — - get there early for they are known to be gone by 11am. Sunday ALSO means that their«sandwich station» is closed(big-time sadness for this Sunday traveler in search for a mid-day munch). This menu appears to be absolutely delicious: a variety of homemade breads(including my fave: anadama), tons of toppings/stuffings/spreads. Fortunately, bagel+topping(peanut butter/hummus/jam) WAS still available on Sunday Funday. *Baked items(…are you ready for this magic?): lemon squares, brownies, peanut butter balls, oatmeal cookies, sesame-maple vegan clusters, peanut butter cookies, chocolate/peanut butter bars, red velvet cake, etc yumyumyum. It was hard to choose! But at 1 $-3 $ a piece, we decided to get a little box of assorted treats! *Friendly staff helped us with selection as well as direction(the bridge is CLOSED, people!!! for the next year you’ve got to take a weirdo route outta town). The girl behind the counter joked, «That’s how we got our nickname: Turner Falls: nice to visit, hard to leave!» Humor+goodies…I like it. Hellz yeah — I wish I lived closer so that I might call this my «Sunday morning crossword and croissant» place.

The is my absolute favorite place to go in Turners. The food is fabulous and won’t disappoint. I’ve had soup, sandwiches, baked good, coffee… I love 2nd Street. Plus, while you’re there, head to the Great Falls Discovery Center and make a day out of Turners!

I absolutely love this place! I stop here just about every day on my way to work to pick up coffee at the very least, but usually lunch and/or some kind of treat for my co-workers and I. They have excellent sandwiches(sandwich shop closes at 3 tues-sat) my favorites are the turkey bistro(turkey, roasted red peppers, spinach, goat cheese) an the Mediterranean chicken(chicken, feta, olives, Lettuce, cukes, homemade dressing). They also have croissants filled with everything from ham and cheddar, chicken and pesto, spinach and feta, to apples and Brie. If you can think of it, they probable have one. I’m usually never there in the mornings, but they have bagel sandwiches and egg croissants too. Best of all, the croissants are only $ 1.62 in the afternoons! They also have a wide variety of soups on offer. There are three available daily, but they change it up. My favorites are the Thai Chicken Curry, Carrot Ginger, Chicken Stew, and both the Fish and Clam Chowders. The soups are available in cups, bowls, pints and bread bowls and served with crackers or a slice if their freshly baked bread. The baked goodies offered are also varied and all delicious. I love there cinnamon rolls(huge!) and red velvet cupcakes. They also have cannoli, cheesecakes, pie bars, brownies, fruit croissants, lemon bars, all kinds of cookies and muffins, as well as scones and scores of other delicious treats. Everything is delicious! They also take orders for cakes; I have seen them working on everything from tiered wedding cakes, to birthday cakes, to even a replica of a dog cake! There are also always cakes in the case that they are more than willing to personalize with writing at no extra charge if you need a cake last minute. Everything about 2nd Street is amazing. I love the food and the friendly staff. I can’t say enough good things about this place!

2nd Street made our wedding cake. It was moist, fluffy, and beautiful: the image of our wedding invitations, just as we’d asked. Everyone said it was the best wedding cake they’ve ever had(usually they’re dry and flavorless). Not ours, thanks to 2nd Street! It was also delivered on schedule, and at a marvelous price. Thanks, 2nd Street! And, after our wedding, we went into 2nd Street, and one of the owners greeted us, «Hello, Newlyweds!» Not only are their creations sweet, but so is their manner. I highly recommend 2nd Street for all your wedding cake dreams!
