Wow! Total change from Chukchansi and Table Mountain. For starters, this place is really tucked away from the highways, roughly 2 hours from Mariposa. I’m guessing it’s an hour or so to Modesto maybe? It’s a beautiful drive on 49 passing through Bagby, Don Pedro, Chinese Camp nonetheless. Albeit, at the cost of soiling your britches. Parking is really ample, and seems a tad secure. At the moment, there is nothing more than a rag holding up my driver window. Granted I had absolutely no vauables inside car except for some basic survival provisions. Coming in, you are immediately overwhelmed in your senses. Especially the ringing of the slots. On first impresssion, it’s very well run and clean. The gift shop is AMAZING! Joyce had helped me pick out a mother’s day gift. Turned out to be a shotgun shell USB drive, and a bear riding a Red ATV statue. All in all, damage done was $ 75. Customer service is wonderful. The lady working the club counter actually gave me better free play since i had driven such a distance. The machines are awesome, some even have USB ports for your phone! And the machines do pay out even for small time gamblers like myself. $ 5 put in, walked out with $ 45. Not a bad deal at all! And more than covered the $ 10 in fuel I used. All in all, glad I went! Will be back!

Agreed with others about the cigarette smoke, it’s so nasty on a Friday/Saturday night. The buffet on Friday nights is where this casino shines. All you can eat crab legs and prime rib for $ 23. Can’t beat the food or price. This is actually a really nice casino with a bowling alley and arcade and soon a ~100 or so RV sites by end of 2016… Till then RVs park in the top lot free.

I love the«gamble» when eating breakfast at BlackOaks; I.e. one-time the food will be good and the service poor, or the service will be good and the food poor. Never consistent. Suggest hiring a full time manager…

I like this Casino, although I’ve not had a lot of luck winning here. There is a good selection of machines and tables to play. A few restaurants, good buffet, and small bowling alley are nice touches. The parking garage is very nice, and was a much needed addition. The negative is cigarette smoke. There is a non smoking section, however it’s still reeks of cigarette smoke. I’m not sure what measures other casinos have in place to filter the air, but some of them have fresher air in smoking sections than this place does in their non smoking section.

This place is fun for the whole family! With three different restaurant options, gambling on the main floor, and a bowling alley/arcade downstairs everyone can find something to please their fancy! The concerts and comedy shows are fun in a nice small club setting off of the casino. All the staff are always friendly and I really enjoy the sports bar downstairs! Good pizza!!! And popcorn while having drinks & waiting for your entrée! Have fun!

In black oak casino there is many things that that you can do at the start of walking in. First you must check in at the front desk which takes a bit but it“s quick. When you are finished checking in you have to go to your room. There is 2 elevators that go from the bottom floor to the top floor. But for all the athletes out there who want to get a good cardio work out, then go up the stairs which also goes from the bottom floor to the top floor. Now if you are an adult when you leave your kids with another adult in the room, you can go in the casino. It has lot –s of games like Ghostbusters and Count Dracula. For the kids if your done with the casino, you can take them to the games. There is and arcade and a bowling alley. The arcade is called Underground Arcade which is located when you walk into the casino there is an escalators that take you down to the arcade or the bowling alley. The arcade has lots of games that are fun for the kids. When they are out of tokens, they could go ticket counter and get the prizes. The bowling alley is very fun for the kids. They take turn which the machine keeps track of. After the games, it will tel you who won. after a long day. You can go back the the comfy hotel room and sleep. Then in the morning, you will feel like a new person when you drive home. –Jayden P.S 5 Stars P.P.S Very good place to stay for a night or 2.

Dirtiest hotel I stayed the night in. Check in was quick. No problem there. Got to room and was very disappointed. Bed was all messy. Shower door wouldn’t shut close. Very very dusty around bed and all corners. Windows so dirty. Hand prints all over window. When leaving someone urinated in corner of elevator. Had to take stairs down to check out. When confronting clerk on the issues she came across as throw she didn’t care. Only 1 clerk reacted on the elevator mess

Typical as far as casinos go. They do have family options with bowling and an arcade. Bowling is decently priced and there are a lot of lanes available. Plenty of parking and game options. The food is actually really good and the buffet was a pleasant surprise. There is also a pizza/burger joint downstairs which might appeal to the younger kids.

I was suffering a severe case of cabin fever and since many of my friends were not available I decided to take a drive. Never being up in the hills above Stan County, I drove like a tourist checking out some of the scenery as I made my way to what at one time was a firestorm(remember the Tuolumne Fire?). It felt like it took a long time but I found my way to the casino and it looked just like the commercials(you know the one where that couple goes up there and wins big, yeah…). From the parking garage on what I think was the second or third floor is a convenient entrance into the casino putting you right into the smoke-free area which, by all intensive purposes, is quite impressive! It’s nothing like the ones in Nevada which would serve better as a walk-in closet than a play-worthy smoke-free playground. They set aside enough square footage for the non-smokers like myself to feel included. As with anything though I think I spotted happier people playing with Smokey The Bear and winning bigger on the tobacco-stained side. I sauntered over to the«other side» while continuously trying to convince my lungs that if I won big I’d give them a makeover(Public Service Announcement: Secondhand smoke KILLS). Since I’m all about the slots, I took a turn on them and instantly won 8 bucks! To me that’s good, you can laugh if you want. The place overall is stylish and laid out quite nicely making it quite a contender amongst the like casinos dotted all over the Golden State. Still on my diet I didn’t indulge in any of the vittles but I heard good things and even saw a man love his food a little too much. It’s very close to home and a nice drive so I’ll be back for more but this time I am going to bring a friend because a casino trip is better with more than one!

No use repeating… all the one and two star reviews are absolutly true. I collect and own all types of slot machines so I know how to work on them and i know these machines are set to the very minimum payout. Alot of table games but most are not open. By looking around, it seems it is just a way to sucker senior citizens our of thier social security checks… I have never seen anyone win a meaningful amount… I have been a gambler for 40 years and i realize over the long run the house always wins but this place doesn’t even tease… it is no fun pouring money into a vacuum cleaner. And comps… LOL…good luck. Nevada is the place to go.

They gave me $ 25 free play for being a new player which definitely felt nice. Played a few games only lost $ 20. They offer free soda, water and coffee. However, alcohol is not free. Smelt like smoke but they have a non smoking area that doesn’t stink as bad. Lots of people and good vibes. Overall, Good expierence

Thinking about a place to have that upcoming wedding and reception? Don’t spend your money at Black Oak Casino! Highway Patrol stopped three of our guests on Tuolumne Road coming to the wedding … The tribe has a bored group of security guards that apparently can’t make the grade to Law Enforcement that will harass your guests if they do anything wrong … No explaining the rules just total insane over reaction! Could have been a Fairytale wedding anywhere else. Should have gone to Union Hill! These clowns followed our guests to the Casino after the reception and stood with arms crossed glaring at them as they spent their money … All with the blessings of the head of security. Some guy named Ron«you don’t need my last name» and we don’t care about customer service … That’s not our job!!! Find a place without draconian security that need to overstep their job titles … Big thumbs down Black Oak Casino!!!

This has got to be one of the smokiest casinos in California! They need to re-do their air filtration’s system. There are not enough slot machines to play, and when you are able to get to one, they do not pay at all. They only have a small selection to choose from, they do not have some of the favorites that a lot of people like to play. Next is the TERRIBLE Black Oak Café(Dinner and Buffet). TERRIBLE choices in the buffet. The only meat was prime rib. They had a few types of fish, and then some skinny terrible crab legs. The salad bar consists of lettuce, tomato, beets, beans, olives and 4 types of dressing. The wait staff was awesome, they get 2 thumbs up! Everything else about this casino sucks !

My mother came here for her birthday. Decided to spend her hard working money to spend the night at their resort. Decided to spend her as well hard working money all on the bar products since she’s already staying here at the establishment, did I mention that she’s a gold card member which means she spends a good amount of money here per month. While her stay for her celebration of her birthday, the staff management and security decided to interrogate her while enjoying herself at a machine, but took it as if she drank too much alcohol and made a disruptive disturbance. Any witness could agree, they just decided to interrupt our family fun and made a fool of our whole party. I will never stay here again, if you want to come and celebrate a families member birthday don’t come here, or they will judge you off of one or two shots of alcohol, even though your paying to stay at their resort. I hate this place! The most embarrassing moment I’ve ever been through. Don’t come.

The black oak casino keeps getting better. I have been many times to both use the bowling, sports bar, and casino. It isn’t small. It has a hotel and even a gas station. The grounds have been getting really nice — they even do weddings. The music in the clubs is mostly local groups. Live music can be good on the weekends. The casino has a mix of typical table and slot games. They have high limit areas, but they are not always staffed. I find the staff has become WAY friendlier. I almost stopped going because the old pit crews did no take the tables FUN. Tips: — if you do not see a table open. Ask the pit boss. They often can move people or change limits. — the electonic games seem to do a better job of tracking to accumulate perks. — if the bars are crowded, go to the high limit area. They usually are slow. — the website has a good list of bus companies if you don’t like to drive.

Visited my friend in Modesto tonight(I live in Sacramento) and we decided to give Black Oak Casino a visit. I will break my review down into pieces of my visit, starting with the trip: The drive: from Modesto, it’s not too bad of a trip: about an hour and fifteen minutes. It’s definitely out of the way, similar to Jackson… Red Hawk and Thunder Valley are much easier to get to. I imagine it’s much more of a difficult drive from Sacramento though(I’m guessing 2+ hrs each way? Basically not worth it). Fortunately my GPS didn’t lose signal like others have, so I found the place relatively ok. My rating: 3⁄5 if you coming from Modesto or anywhere closer. 2⁄5 if it’s anywhere further. The casino(slots): The non-smoking area is the best out of all the casinos I’ve been to. It has the biggest layout and largest selection of slots I’ve seen in a non-smoking area. The rest of the casino was ok. There are a good amount of slots, but maybe only half as many as Red Hawk and Jackson and less than half of Thunder. I had decent luck in slots in both areas(Won like $ 200 and put it back, but any gambler knows breaking even is always good). Unfortunately my friend had zero luck and lost the $ I gave her lol. My rating: 3⁄5 The casino(tables): The table selection was pretty comparable to Jackson. I decided to play some double deck blackjack. My $ 300 was going pretty well… back and forth and basically even for about 30 minutes… until they changed cards and I lost almost every hand after that and my buy in… Wasn’t too happy about that(always a little weary when cards are changed out, but my fault for sticking around). Didn’t look too closely at the other games, but I didn’t see any progressives on games such as paigow or four card poker, so they lose a point there. Overall I’d give the tables a 3⁄5 The casino(atmosphere): Non-smoking gets an A+ for reasons I described above. The rest of the floor gets an F. The reason being is everything feels a bit drab and packed in. In addition the air quality is by far the worst of any casino I’ve been too(especially near the tables) ventilation really needs to be fixed. Overall my rating is a 2⁄5(would be a 1/5, but the non-smoking section saved that for sure). Employees on the floor: The players club guy in the non-smoking section was great and helped us with any questions we had: 5⁄5 there. The slot attendants were fast and responsive(I had two different slot machines jam on me…) but one guy made a comment that was especially irritating(borderline offensive)…he came over to open my machine that ate my ticket and after I put my ticket back in the machine I wanted to play, he asks me what ethnicity I am. I tell him Chinese and he responds by saying something in Chinese and rubbing my machine… now I’m sure he was trying to be friendly and wish me good luck or something, but come on… I have no accent whatsoever, I don’t speak a word of Chinese, and I dress like a normal American… come on buddy, don’t treat me like I’m some FOB visiting America for the first time…3/5 for you, as that comment docked you down two points… the dealers that dealt me were pretty friendly, even though they took my money. So 5⁄5 for them. Didn’t get to interact with the main players club or cage, so no idea how they are. Overall, employees get a 4⁄5 Restaurants: We decided to have a late dinner at the Mill(I think that’s what it was called?). Our food was good and our waitress, while a tad slow, was accomodating. It was a bit on the pricey side, but overall not too bad. My rating a 4⁄5 My overall review of this place is a 3⁄5. Basically it’s nothing too special, and if you’re closer to Thunder, Red Hawk, Jackson, or Cache Creek, I’d recommend them. However the one thing it does have is a bowling alley, but it’s very expensive as far as bowling goes. I guess if you got money to burn and ppl under 21 to entertain, it’s a good option. Anywho Black Oak is not a bad place to check out, but at the same time probably isn’t worth your time if you have closer options(sorry Black Oak but it’s the truth!)

It was a journey getting here from Santa Clara, Ca., thank goodness for GPS. Once we arrived we were very pleased with our accommodations. Room/bathroom was large, refrigerator, microwave offered. Casino is a short walk away from lodging. It’s a small casino that packs a lot of punch. A family location that offers bowling, arcade, and a warm, clean pool. The casino itself offers various slots, cards. keno etc… We enjoyed our stay and find its rustic appeal awesome. Food was great lots to choose from and various prices. Onsite coffee café a plus. You will find everything you need here for a fantastic time! Have Fun, drive safely and chaaa-chinging!

Coming from Sacramento you literally have to over the hills and through the woods to get here. We came one way left another confusing as hell especially with no reception on the way up/back so I had to have a drink as soon as we got there. The casino is nice, a lot smaller than Thunder Valley which I usually prefer but it was still nice. I liked how they split the casino into smoking and non smoking, but the smoking section was ridiculously smokey gross. They have a only 2 bars, one lounge and 1 café. Downstairs they have a huge cool bowling alley for the kids, giant arcade and even a cute sports bar downstairs. The hotel was actually really nice, only complaint that it was not connected to the casino so you have to walk outside and it was raining but they do have complimentary umbrellas to walk back and forth. The rooms were clean, Kurig machine in the rooms, microwave, fridge, huge TV, tempurpedic beds & really nice bathrooms. Nice place to gamble, nice hotel but personally rather hit up Thunder Valley.

Came to this place on a last minute trip. This is the best casino I’ve been too. I love the fact they send you coupons to go play. They have variety of machines and don’t have to wait till someone gets done. It’s a cleaner and nicer décor than other ones. Also downstairs they have a place for kids under 18! Also when I went they had a band! How awesome is that? The only downside was that I was on a machine for awhile, but no one came to get my drink order. Other than that will recommend this casino!

The Mill Restaurant downstairs is awesome! The atmosphere is true sports bar, the staff is great and the food is great. The bar there is good too, I’ve never waited long for a drink even when it’s busy. Depending on your bartender it can be a little watered down, but what else should you expect from a bar on the family floor? Upstairs, the Jumping Coyote is a great place for a dessert snack or coffee. However, this all goes downhill on a free fall when you talk about the bowling alley and arcade. Every single time I’ve gone there in the last two years, something has broken down in the bowling alley. Tonight was the absolute last straw. When we arrived, there was only one other couple in the entire 24 lanes. They were on lane 23– the BOC alley staff decided to stick us on the wall, right next to them. We asked if it was possible to not be placed directly next to them. We were informed that the other lanes were going to be oiled for the leagues later. However, less than ten minutes later, a family showed up and was placed in lane 21– exactly where we had just asked to go. Basically, the employee lied to us. Then, we discovered that the mechanism that sets the pins up was not setting all 10 pins. We reset the lanes over and over and over and still it was not working. We contacted another employee who contacted a mechanic. After that, we were informed that the mechanism would have to be fixed, and that it would take 20 minutes or more. We asked, again, to move lanes. The employee seemed very hesitant to do so. We then asked if it were possible to get a refund– we paid 20 $ for two games and shoes– we received only 13.50 back. Apparently, we weren’t allowed to get a refund for the 4 frames we played. Even though that whole time, nothing was working correctly. We have been long time customers of the casino and bowling alley. We have been coming here since it was the warehouse building. We are incredibly disappointed with the obvious lack of maintenance and customer service, particularly in the bowling alley. If this were a small company, they would be shutting their doors. We would love to see some major improvement. It seems like they only care about the casino floor, and allow other things to fall apart. It also occurs to me, reading other comments and talking to other customers, that the BOC values the bowling leagues over general customers. They take care of those lanes, set aside large blocks of time daily for them, and neglect to take care of the general public.

While I enjoy a good night gambling, whether it is in tahoe, reno, vegas, or the Matrix; Black Oak just didn’t feel safe or fun. only 1 crowded bar to buy drinks and there wasn’t a single player in the high rollers room: not a good sign. To top it off, sitting at the Vanna White slots as I often do at most casinos, I’m staying even for a good 45 min; while at the same time I hit a total of 8 – 9 spin the wheel of fortune — but the wheel each time stuttered and would stop quickly on 20 to 40 each time, instead of any of the much higher 700 to 1000 spots. bad luck maybe, but 8 in a row??? Seems pretty long odds that it wasn’t being controlled. I’ll stick with real casinos. Thanks

BOC is one of the smaller Indian casinos I’ve been to, but they pack a lot into a smaller locale. Maybe because the casino is still new they are very clean and it doesn’t reek of smoke(although you will smell it on your clothing once you leave). I found most of the staff to be friendly(except for the wait staff at the café/grill/buffet). They have a good selection of new and older slot machines that are fun to play. They have some amusing night time entertainment(we saw a cover band that did get a good share of folks on the dance floor). However, the food here was really bad. The café/grill/buffet was awful. If you come here and aren’t really familiar with the area, you will most likely be eating all of your meals here, which is probably a mistake. We came in and had lunch at the café(which later is also the buffet) and it was boring, bland and uninspired, even for casino food. Our waitress was rude and seemed bored, she certainly wasn’t glad we were dining there and could give two shits less about our food. Midway into our meal we just stopped looking for her or asking for anything extra, she was so sour. There was only one person in our group that actually liked our food. The soups were very thin and watery(clam chowder and chicken noodle). My mashed potatoes were cold and my blackened salmon was flavorless despite whatever was on it that made it «blackened». The only other restaurants here are a very fancy/expensive restaurant(as told to us by a local) and a sports bar downstairs that offers standard pub fare for the bar patrons and the bowling alley. At night the café has an added area that turns into a buffet. RUNDON’T WALK from the buffet. The seafood buffet is one of the worst buffets I’ve ever had. Everything was a cold mass of flavorless slop. The shrimp scampi was cold and the only seasoning was giant peppercorns in a weird sauce. My baked potato was cold and so was the gross gob of macaroni and cheese they offered. The dessert selection was varied but none of it was good enough to make you think you’d order a full sized portion. The coffee stands in the casino and the hotel offer lots of different kinds of lattes, but they are all overly sweet and the coffee itself is weak. The gift shop has some neat things in it both at the casino and in the hotel.
